Can someone explain to me why it’s the consensus belief that our run defense will be on par to the previous two seasons? Not doubting at all, just genuinely curious. Murphy, Sweat, Collins, and Broughton were all extremely disruptive. All were drafted relatively high. Do we think that our current room is of that quality, or is the idea we will manufacture that production through sheer depth/fresh bodies? I’ve watched tape of Cole and Travis. Cole is huge and has a great motor. Travis is twitched up and explosive, maybe not consistent due to injury. I don’t know what we have with January but he appears to be developing well. We lost Sorrell who was a rock in the run game, I think the belief here is that Ethan Burke will provide a similar presence. Do we think Simmons will play the run better than Trey Moore did? Hill & Lefau are demons in the gaps, I suspect that’ll remain the same. Norton & Lole were solid, one made an NFL practice squad and the others playing days appear to be over. I think the additions of Shaw, Brevard, and Kanu appear to be upgrades to the depth. I think we take a step back in the front line interior though. Just thinking out loud.
