OU Recruiting 2026: Burnt Vegetables
I was thinking about Bowe Bentley's recruitment the other day. Looks like UT and even aggy said "good luck, kid," without even handing out a fake, non-committable offer (although I must concede that, when you get a kid like Bell, there's no need to look any further. But that still doesn't explain aggy taking the much lower rated kid from Utah, unless they're making a horrible mistake, which, well... OK that's very plausible). However, tOSU took a 3-star instead of fighting for Bentley, I'm not sure I buy that UGA ever actually "offered," and LSU, with no current QB commit, also did not seem interested in fighting for him in the slightest. Maybe I'm completely out to lunch on this (and it would be VERY fair to call me an ignorant, know-nothing asshole) but outside of 3 schools that didn't seem to care enough to really recruit Bentley, I'm very much unimpressed by his offer list, particularly given the lack of local-ish powers (sorry, Tech - you don't count). Even TCU, Baylor, and SMU don't seem to have offered. Time will tell but this looks to me like a Haynes King/Jackson Arnold type situation to me. On the other hand, it seems like Duke really wanted him so at least we know his grades are pretty good

I really, really, really want her to somehow insinuate herself into Matt Rhule's organization and become the same glorious mess for the corn that she was for aggy. CFB is just better what Karen is regularly embarrassing some program I hate. Maybe she can move to Athens after that

"A new version of the sort of challenges that have always existed [in SEC recruiting.]" WHAT KIND OF CHALLENGES WERE THOSE, GEORGIA? AND WHO CREATED THOSE CHALLENGES? But, yes, Sark is totally dishonest and Kirby is a complete saint, worried only about the sanctity of the precious concept of "student-athlete." Fucking dunce

Roster retention thread of awesomeness- crowd source every schools most painful transfer portal losses
The fact that I'm having to dig like this says a lot about the amazing job the staff has done with player retention but... no mention of Andrej Karic? I would think we had a spot on our two-deep for him last year. He did start on a playoff team and won SEC OL of the week after they beat Vandy the last weekend of November Not saying we missed him a ton - just that maybe he would have given us slightly more depth at guard?

I think you're thinking of a different mediocre safety commit. It's confusing - roti, tortillas, and lavash are kind of similar. But it's all still bread in the end

Quick - someone tweet this at Mark Bowman Seriously, though, and I know recruits and their parents aren't paying attention to this shit like we are but how does someone read a line like "USC... is now forced to cut staff and sell off assets to stay afloat" and think, "yup, these guys are definitely going to be able to afford my huge NIL deal?" Selling off team shit? No idea how accurate this is but it sounds fucking grim Also, my sister is in town. My wife and I are supposed to meet her tomorrow at some place called like "the Broiled Peach" or something stupid and trendy like that. I'm definitely now saying "fuck all that, we're going to Conan's. If you don't like it, tough shit. See you at Thanksgiving."- NIL Recruiting News Megathread
I have considered (kind of) leaving my firm and paying to have an "I SUE THE NCAA" website at the top of Google's search results. Seems like easy money if you can get it. I mean, I would mostly have no idea what I was doing - but when has that ever stopped a lawyer?- Negative Recruiting Your Own School: The aggy Screenshot Megathread
The trashiest part of Austin is still a million times better than the very best part of BCS- 2026 DL James “JJ” Johnson
Such an awesome highlight reel. My favorite is still the first play where he throws the guard the QB Reggie White-style and then runs through the rest of the OL, turns the corner, and makes the tackle for little to no gain- 2026 LB Tyler Atkinson
For those who missed it in the other thread: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/17372397/66d495ab17498e1c92b9d4bd I'm pretty sure there's an actual fatality at 0:21. Possibly at 2:22 as well- Texas Recruiting Notes 2026: Boulevard of Broken Bagmen
This video would be funny if it wasn't so goddamn stressful to watch live. The play at 0:53 where Suh destroys Hall and then Hall passively watches Suh basically suplex Colt is an all-time post-2006 Texas-MacWhorter-OL moment Also, big shoutout to Greg Davis for thinking it was a good idea to run our star QB inside and right into the best defensive player in CFB that season. And to do it behind THAT OL. An unfortunate portent of things to come- Texas Recruiting Notes 2026: Boulevard of Broken Bagmen
I believe Louisiana also allocated a relatively small but not insignificant portion of the state's payout from the settlement of the AG's lawsuit against Juul to LSU NIL - which is one of the most LSU things I've ever heard Edit. Found it: https://frontofficesports.com/louisiana-ag-uses-juul-settlement-for-nil-deals/- Vince Young Perpetual Appreciation Thread
"He made major mistakes in a 34-27 victory over [who gaf]." The NFL and NFL media's attitude to VY summed up in a single sentence, IMO- 2021 WR Quay Davis
I mean... ever for you, dude- Realignment talk not going away
"Grand Canyon University" sounds like one of those schools that had to forgive all their student loan debt for being, well... not an actual university. Ouch- Tell Me About Texas a&m
The thing that Trev doesn't seem to realize is that aggy wasn't second, third, or even fourth. They were somewhere significantly to the right of the red arrow and no one knows where the fuck they were looking because they were well outside the camera frame- Texas Recruiting Notes 2026: Boulevard of Broken Bagmen
I've heard lots of basketball and, with the new transfer rules, football coaches talk about how there really is value in finishing second in these things because, when a rival school breaks promises, isn't the right fit, or otherwise fucks up with the recruit that you wanted, that connection is there and ready Will it work out that way for us? Almost certainly not. That kind of shit never does. But hold your head high anyway. We're TEXAS and our academics are totally, 100%, absolutely better than Stanford. At least that's what I read on this board- Texas Recruiting Notes 2026: Boulevard of Broken Bagmen
Maybe I'm still drinking the Kool-Aid but I think a few flips are a real possibility. I know it's been a very frustrating summer but, as has been pointed out, we're actually ahead of where we were at this point last year. I also wonder if maybe we have a bit of a target on our back after coming into the SEC and not only not falling on our face, but being a missed kick away from winning the conference (GOD FUCKING DAMMIT, BERT), making the semis (and in pretty spectacular fashion, given the way we beat ASU), being a halfway decent red zone call away from being tied with the "unbeatable" national champ Buckeyes, pulling the No. 1 class, and doing all of that while taking local guys away from UGA, LSU, Florida, Auburn, and USC. It also seems like it's worth noting that the staff likes Turntine (who's not exactly low rated), Okpala, Howard, Robertson, and Riley significantly more than the $9.99 crew does. Maybe Brown and Wright, too? I have no idea. At the very least, I'm hopeful for Howard But maybe that's just typical "my team just got beat for a bunch of highly rated guys" cope? Again, I have no idea - but I do know that Sark has pulled off some awesome flips and that some of his 3 star takes look pretty fucking good PS Fuck Lott and fuck Finley. Unless they flip. If that happens, they've always been incredible prospects with my complete support. Also, fuck aggy, OU, Tech, and Baylor. There's no caveat here. Fuck them always and forever- Texas Recruiting Notes 2026: Boulevard of Broken Bagmen
"Dillingham said he’s seen contracts that also permit schools to end or reduce a player’s salary over the course of the deal, something reported earlier this spring by Yahoo Sports via Illinois law professor Michael Leroy, who uncovered more than 90 different player contracts through open-records requests. 'These NIL contracts read like employee handbooks that reserve a right of employment at will for employers,” he said. “They don’t use ‘at will’ but the concept is, they can terminate the contract.'” There's going to be a whole bunch of fuckery, some kids are going to get Jordan Addisoned, some schools are going to come off looking very bad, and some extremely expensive players are not going to contribute meaningfully - at least not initially - despite intense pressure to do so. It's going to be an interesting season- Texas Recruiting Notes 2026: Boulevard of Broken Bagmen

Are we definitely out of it for Gunner Rivers? Not that I'm complaining - Bryant seems great and, although I'm sure his ranking will change (up or down - who knows? It's really early), I certainly trust Sark and Milwee to properly evaluate QBs. Just wondering- Texas A&M Recruiting 2026: The World's Drunkest Elk
