  1. I'm always amazed by the grace and restraint I see in the African American community, especially in light of the fact that these types of stories have unfortunately become a regular part of American life. Death at the hands of the police is the 6th leading cause of death for black young men. About 100 in 100,000 black men and boys will be killed by police during their lives. That's an appalling statistic. Who wants to live in a nation where you are literally afraid you'll be killed during a traffic stop.
  2. It's pretty clear he had good reason to run. He's saying he's on the ground and trying to comply and they keep escalating. They wanted to beat the shit out of him.
  3. That's right, and now people are also saying how she handled it should be the textbook example of how things should be handled.
  4. There's a rumor that's starting to circulate here in Memphis that the victim had perhaps started dating or seeing a woman formerly involved with one of the officers. Supposedly comes from a person in the department. And since there's no evidence of any reckless driving, and victim claims he wasn't doing anything wrong in the video, it would perhaps indicate he was targeted.
  5. My wife was a tour guide at Graceland when we met. She grew up on Graceland Dr. about a mile from the mansion. Rough area these days. Sad news about Lisa Marie.
  6. Still the biggest name in the game. In my playing days Pele, Beckenbauer and Cryuff were the big three. I had posters of them in my room, along with Farrah Fawcett, and actually got to see the Cosmos, and Pele was the guy that got that started. Seems weird that two of my biggest childhood heroes are gone. Rest in peace, Pele.
  7. No. Of course not. But TCU will likely get in, despite the fact we all know Alabama is probably the better team.
  8. Gerd Muller would have put that ball through the net.
  9. I've been watching German football since the 70's. This is the worst German side I've ever seen. No finishers, poor defense. An unimaginative manager.
  10. I felt like the first team to get a stop in those final minutes would be the winner. Obviously that was wrong. Charbonnet being held under 100 was significant, but UCLA has had big trouble on its OL. Everyone talks about these offenses, but it really came down to two teams with poor defenses needing their D to make a big play. That was the game.
  11. Who's their fat, violent, closeted gay, Marjorie Taylor Greene?
  12. I would have preferred to not get PSG. We've been up and down this season. Hard to predict which Bayern will show up.
  13. Lots of folks counting on Texas this week. I have a feeling Sark will want this one pretty bad and will have his team ready.
  14. I've been in the tech sector for 37 years. This is the worst situation I've ever seen in terms of how to handle employee separation.
  15. You could call holding on every down. Let the kids play. That wasn't egregious.
