  1. I think at some point you probably see them go to Simpson again at QB. He's their future. I don't see Milroe getting much better.
  2. Bama doesn't have guys like Jonathan Allen and Darron Payne in the middle these days. They've got some big, quick athletes, but they're just not as nasty and instinctive. I think the Buchner kid might help them. They've won national titles with guys like that before. McCarron, McElroy, etc. Guys that don't have the mobility or arm than Bryce Young had, but are efficient game managers. And their assistants have been average. Having Kirby Smart run your defense and guys like Sark and Kiffin for the offense takes you up a notch. I think those are the key differences between national title Alabama teams and the most recent versions.
  3. They're actually playing pretty well tonight. Bear Alexander is in the backfield all the time, Shane Lee is playing better and Tackett Curtis is a stud. Reminds me of Cushing.
  4. He won't leave unless he's forced. He'd have zero power in Russia, and he thrives on power.
  5. I doubt this fucker will ever be brought to justice. The government should suspend his passport due to the seriousness of the crime. And if he tries to fly his own plane to safety, they should make sure the pilot will face federal charges and loss of his pilots license for aiding in the flight of a fugitive. Otherwise, I figure Putin has a place for him in Russia, a gift in return for his unfailing loyalty. He will never serve a day in jail is my guess.
  6. It's over. Il a fini. I felt Pog needed to basically cut the lead in half on this stage and all Jonas did was bury him. But Pog probably wasn't completely ready for the Tour this year. With those two, it's whoever is highest in the climber category. That's going to be the winner. Barring disaster, the tour belongs to Jonas.
  7. Never Look Away A phenomenal film that's essentially based on Gerhard Richter's life and work.
  8. I grew up when Page, Clapton, Richards and Gilmore were in their prime, so they're always high on my list. But Hendrix, in my view, stands alone. Gotta give some love to Chuck Berry.
  9. It's not wise to bet against LSU in a CWS final. They've won 6 and only finished 2nd once. Sometimes they don't get to the finals, but when they do, they seem to have some mojo that carries them through.
  10. Bruno has not been on lately. His last two outings were poor.
  11. That curveball was on the inside black and nasty. Good call.
  12. Should probably leave that guy in the game.
  13. Maybe. But it sounds more like sexual harassment.
  14. There's a column in the New York Times today, written by a journalist based in Memphis, that discusses a historical perspective on police violence in Memphis, as well as violence against black males. I know the history, because I've been here since 1962, and was a History major. But most outside of Memphis do not. It's harrowing and shows a long line of intentional murders carried out by police in Memphis. When I was around 12, my dad was having a conversation with an ex-cop. I think we were at our duck club, and they were talking about how "the blacks" were taking over Memphis. Then the cop says, "I remember a day when we just carried out justice down at the Harahan bridge." I was old enough to know what he meant, and I never forgot it. Violence in policing is part of its cultural DNA. They attract males that are inclined toward violence and that hold brutish ideas about how to deal with crime.
