  1. Cancelled. And also took the money I was spending on Hulu/Disney and set up a monthly donation in that amount to NPR and PBS.
  2. We did a Danube river cruise on AMA a few months ago, and loved it. I’ve done a couple ocean cruises, and felt really trapped on the ship, surrounded by 2500 of my closest friends. But the river cruise was great, more like a floating hotel with no need to pack up in between locations. They had bikes on the boat, and we did some biking around towns. Excursions were included, and many of them were active and for biking or hiking. When we did take the city tour excursions (Vienna, Budapest), they divided us into groups, so there were only 10-15 people or so you were with. Also, for the most part, we were docked in town, and you could just walk into say, Vienna, in a few minutes, as opposed to an ocean cruises in which you could be stuck in some large port away from things. Also, the boats together wasn’t a big deal at all. You just walk through a lobby of the other ship. That said, I did find it mildly irritating when I did a Nile river cruise a number of years ago. And the balcony cabin in Luxor had a view of someone else’s cabin in another boat for 2 days.
  3. This. Hell, I bought my place at the bottom of the market a number of years ago, when mortgage interests rates were low. Today, rents for a comparable place are roughly five times what I’m paying for my mortgage. I graduated college without significant debt. Neither of those things has been possible for people today. In addition to insurance and utilities skyrocketing, a trend that started years ago. The gap in wealth inequality started decades ago, when most of us were still kids. Of course all that’s about to be hugely accelerated for no fucking reason other than bigotry and hate and that our so called president is a Russian agent.
  4. I’m not sure where I’d go. I don’t know what countries would want or need U.S. lawyers to work in them, and there’s nowhere that I’d want to live anyway where I’m entitled to citizenship. I have some money, but am far enough away from retirement that I wouldn’t qualify for a visa to Portugal for example. And even if I could figure out a place to land, I can’t imagine moving to a country where I don’t know a single person. But I didn’t plan on living out my middle age and retirement under fascism.
  5. Yes, but WaPo subscribers probably aren’t enough to make a difference, and Bezos won’t give a fuck. Everyone needs to cancel their Amazon accounts.
  6. This is the plan. They want incompetent law enforcement. Competent law enforcement wouldn’t have ever let the kidnappings, masked LEO’s, etc. ever happen. Competent law enforcement would have caught this guy. Instead, they can speculate and put all sorts of lies out there, about him being trans, being a lefty, and on and on, with no one competent giving a briefing to correct the lies. They don’t actually care about enforcing the laws. Or about catching whoever did this. They only care about adding more kindling to the fire.
  7. Better that than sullying an actual 9/11 memorial service. I had many coworkers who died that day, and I don’t want those shitstains anywhere near what should truly be a solemn occasion. They’re more suited for play acting faux outrage and sadness at the death of a bigoted grifter.
  8. I love the non-ironic use of “pro life” and “pro gun” right next to each other.
  9. Sure it was. If your goal is to rile up your cult with accusations and suppositions and lies, as opposed to actually arresting and trying the murderer using the actual facts.
  10. If it ends up being a right winger they’ll just lie and say it was a trans Antifa Mexican. And the media will quote Kash Patel. And no one will fact check. And a majority of the country will just believe whatever Kash Patel or turnip said regardless of whether it had any semblance of reality.
  11. Yes. They will. The right wing is absolutely giddy over this. Antifa! The libs! Someone stole a kids hat years ago! The right wing will use this as propaganda to further stoke the flames, and their sycophantic, brain washed Fox News watching incels will yell and scream about this endlessly. Meanwhile, they’ll ignore the attack on Paul Pelosi (in which Kirk called the attacker a “patriot”), the shootings of the Minnesota lawmakers, the federal judge’s son, and Gabby Gifford, the Tree of Life Bombing, the Wal-mart shooting, unmasked “federal agents” kidnapping people on American streets, and I could go on.
  12. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/turning-point-usa-founder-charlie-211415069.html In response to David DePape’s arrest over the weekend, conservative radio talkshow host Charlie Kirk encouraged his audience Monday to bail the man who attacked Paul Pelosi with a hammer Friday out of jail. During his livestream show on Monday, the Turning Point USA founder also dismissed the idea that “Republican rhetoric” inspired the assault on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband. Paul Pelosi remains hospitalized after undergoing surgery for a fractured skull and other injuries.
  13. If only the right were 1% as concerned when Democratic state representatives and their families are murdered in their homes.
  14. So we’re sending in ICE to Utah now, right?
  15. Jon Ostrower, the journalist who provided this information, is very highly regarded, who generally provides accurate information. This theory is much more credible than the prior AI nonsense and speculation.
  16. And we have always been at war with Eastasia.
  17. Cruelty. And no oversight of our cruelty.
  18. I don't think the flaps were retracted. The flaps on the 787 are difficult to see due to the shape of the wing.
  19. About 4000 people in the rain in Morristown, NJ (also Washington's headquarters during the Revolutionary War). Very peaceful. Just a few police directing traffic.
  20. Exactly this.
  21. And it's been less than ten days since the president's top aide accused him of pedophilia.
  22. I think they just stayed the decision to give the regime a little time to file an appeal before the order went into effect. Which in a functioning democracy with a functioning federal court system, would be what you want. A reasoned decision after the feds get their chance to argue their case. And if the feds still lose, then you have a strong record before it possibly heads to the Supreme Court. In this world, though, it doesn't really matter either way. Regardless of whether the regime suffers a temporary setback tomorrow, there's going to be bloodshed. We're less than five months into the trump regime and this is already where we're at. By the end of summer, the trump sycophants (which includes large swaths of the military and the police) will have forcibly invaded and taken over California, or California will have left the union and there will be civil war. Assuming the upcoming WWIII didn't kill us all first.
  23. This board is infinitely better with Ana on ignore.
