  1. Since this is the post that started all this, a couple of points. 1. More whites are obese, as shown by raw numbers, and are clearly more of a burden of society. 2. More minorities are obese by percentage, and would be disproportionately impacted by the insurance rates going up on "fats." And would more likely be the reason for a "new revolution" over increased rates.
  2. When I do 16 hour fasts, lots of the time I just won't eat lunch until 1:00 or 2:00. That lets me drink until 9 or 10pm.
  3. MSNBC is the network he was on and the one that cherry picked the quote and tweeted it out multiple times.
  4. I don't believe that and you are trying to answer for everyone. I think many would've taken the approach of "who really cares if it's true or not? Worst case it convinces you to get your child vaccinated, which is harmless." If he misspoke, MSNBC (the network he was on) certainly didn't want to clarify that as that's the quote they chose to highlight and tweet out multiple times.
  5. The next 21 hires all would need to be black.
  6. They didn't interview any white coaches after the texts with Belichek. But impossible to know when the decision on Daboll was made. Given that the GM came from Buffalo, he was probably the lead candidate from day 1. He was the first to interview via teleconference and the second to interview in person. The other white candidates were Anarumo and Quinn. Anarumo didn't interview in person and Quinn interviewed in person the day before Daboll did. Jan. 11 (Tue) – Giants fire Joe Judge as head coach Jan. 21 (Fri) – Bills assistant GM Joe Schoen hired as GM Jan. 21 (Fri) – Bills OC Brian Daboll interviews with Schoen and Giants’ co-owners via teleconference Jan. 22 (Sat) – Bills DC Leslie Frazier interviews via teleconference Jan. 23 (Sun) – Bengals DC Lou Anarumo interviews via teleconference Jan. 23 (Sun) – Daboll and Frazier’s Buffalo Bills eliminated from playoffs Jan. 24 (Mon) – Cowboys DC Dan Quinn interviews in-person. Giants’ first in-person interview for the job. Jan. 25 (Tue) – Brian Daboll receives second interview. Interview occurs in-person *Brian Flores receives text messages from Bill Belichick congratulating him on becoming next Giants coach even though Flores has not had his interview yet. Belichick’s text messages were intended for Daboll.* Jan. 26 (Wed) – Giants DC Patrick Graham interviews. Does not satisfy Rooney Rule since in-house candidate Jan. 26 (Wed) – Ex-Dolphins HC Brian Flores has dinner with Schoen Jan. 27 (Thu) – Brian Flores interviews (satisfies Rooney Rule because it is in-person with someone outside organization) Jan. 27 (Thu) – Dan Quinn announces he is remaining as Cowboys DC Jan. 28 (Fri) – Leslie Frazier gets second interview, this time in-person, also satisfying Rooney Rule Jan. 28 (Fri) – Daboll hired as head coach
  7. Fascinating. Did I miss how you bath normally? Any pics from inside the cabin?
  8. A one off article which had quotes from multiple well known people in the NBA and the head of the player's association said this. People who qualify as "serious people" as you said. I think that backs up the quote you responded to - that people are just going to be unhappy. The NBA does a MUCH better job with diversity in its hires. Is it perfect - no. But you have the head of the NBAPA calling it disgraceful. “These numbers are just disgraceful. It doesn’t make any sense,” National Basketball Players Association executive directorMichele Roberts told USA TODAY Sports. “It’s not as if no one is doing anything at all. It’s not as if teams aren’t uttering the right words. But the players are seeing it. I’m hearing people talk about both publicly and privately that these numbers don’t make sense.”
  9. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/2021/03/29/black-coaches-giving-nba-mixed-grades-hiring-front/6947526002/ The NBA has empowered its players and coaches by supporting theirdesire to address social injustices. Yet, the NBA has struggled with solving one of its own shortcomings. “You look at the dichotomy between players, coaches and front office ownership representation. The percentages don’t match,” Denver Nuggets associate head coach Wes Unseld Jr. told USA TODAY Sports. “The NBA is by far more forward thinking, more proactive and more diverse and inclusive than the other sports leagues. But I think it still has a ways to go.” Among the 30 NBA teams, there are four majority owners that are minorities and four women that have team ownership positions. There are 10 Black general managers, one Latino president of Basketball Operations and one Asian general manager. And there are zero women head coaches, seven Black head coaches and eight women assistant coaches. “The only way it changes is if the decision-making field gets more diverse,” Milwaukee Bucks assistant coach Darvin Ham told USA TODAY Sports. Scrutiny has intensified specifically surrounding the number of Black NBA head coaches for reasons beyond more attention this past year on the country’s racial inequalities. The NBA previously had eight Black head coaches at the beginning of the 2018-19 season and 14 during the 2012-13 season. That hardly matches the Black representation elsewhere. Out of the league's 185 assistant-coaching positions, 85 of the coaches are people of color. Meanwhile, 74.2% of the NBA players are Black. I’m hearing people talk about both publicly and privately that these numbers don’t make sense.” What will it take for these numbers to improve? What will it take for these numbers to become stable? And what will it take for these numbers to result in better inclusion? “It’s going to take certainly more than we’re doing now,” NBA CommissionerAdam Silver said recently on a conference call. “We’ve made progress over the years. But we’re constantly looking at how we can do better.”
  10. I imagine all the AA candidates for the remaining jobs are so excited that Flores just sued his former employer for racial discrimination. The harsh reality being the Dolphins could've hired a white coach, fired him after 3 years and not have to deal with being sued for being racist.
  11. Agree. I find it damn near impossible that he wouldn't have gotten another HC job.
  12. Agree. Coughlin has won 2 SB as a HC, yet they mention he was chosen over Romeo Crennel who "would go on to receive head coaching positions with the Cleveland Browns, Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans." Like that's a good point that they hired a guy who won 2 SB over a guy who went 32-63 and never made the playoffs with three different franchises.
  13. Every team that hires a white HC is going to be easily accused of passing over specific black coaches due to the Rooney Rule. Every team that has a white HC is not racist. Also, some of those guys listed are awful (as are the guys who were actually hired). Some were not even coordinators.
  14. They do that. In maybe even a better way. By rewarding the team that develops the minority coach. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/2020/11/10/nfl-minority-coach-general-manager-hiring-proposal-approved/6234064002/ https://www.nbcsports.com/bayarea/49ers/49ers-development-robert-saleh-nets-two-third-round-draft-picks
  15. Marvin Lewis and Mike Tomlin were/have been HC's for 16 and 15 years. Combined, they've hired 16 coordinators and 2 were minority (both by Lewis). Those 2 coordinators represent 4 total seasons out of 62 possible (OC and DC for 31 total seasons between the two). While Kyle Shanahan has been a HC for 5 seasons and all 3 coordinators that he has employed in his tenure have been minority. Outside of being his own OC for four years, he has never not had a minority coordinator.
  16. End result - Ross will be forced to sell the team to a minority.
