  1. I think you've read one too many Billy Mumphrey stories.
  2. Some projects over the holiday on the Primo. First up, smoked pork shoulder Next a smoked prime rib
  3. I've had much better luck sporting this red white and blue abroad.
  4. We only want what's best for him........
  5. So let me get this straight......these people actually believe that pivoting away from the economic greatness that is Texas and aligning yourself with the non-Atlanta part of the Southeast is a winning strategy? All because they couldn't effectively differentiate their university from Texas Tech? RD is right......A&M isn't producing graduates that can effectively reason beyond a 5th grade level. Neither can the media apparently, because they keep running the same articles from the Fran era, just changing the names, conference, and dollar figures.
  6. Baylor's best rating last season was a .7 against OU. Our game against them did not even register on the meter (on ESPN U, but still). If Baylor's good, they'll draw interest (our game in 2016 against them drew a 2.2 when they were at the time, ranked in the Top 10). If they suck, then they won't. You can make that assertion about any team in the Big 12 not named Texas or Oklahoma. Point being I think ISU will be better than Baylor, perhaps significantly so. If both TX and ISU are ranked in November, the Big 12 will probably rue the fact they let LHN early pick this game for the network. Guess we will see.
  7. Finally made it out to Great Heights. Winners for me were the Citramendous and Bam Bam IPAs and also enjoyed the Hefeweizen. Also liked this little design element in the taproom.
  8. I am actually surprised they chose this game and not Baylor. ISU projects to be better than Baylor and there would have been an outside chance this game might have garnered some national interest. Baylor has a less of a chance to be good this year and no one cares that much about that game. Not sure if the school or the conference was the driving force, but expect that the game in Ames next year will be on Thursday night football as a result.
  9. England have the easier path, but this is England we are talking about. One only has to go back to Euro 2016 to see how that worked out for them. Columbia's strength may be dependent on James Rodriguez's health, but it would be very England-like for them to lose in the easier side of the bracket. Belgium should be OK....they get a definite tune up game against Japan and I think have an excellent shot to beat Brazil. Brazil would have much preferred to see England come through on that side. The other side of that bracket is pretty brutal....no one has an easy Round of 16 game unlike Brazil and Belgium and could be beat up by the time the semifinal comes round. My guess is the winner of Brazil-Belgium is your finalist. Not feeling France as their form has been subpar so far and in World cups, subpar play in group play usually doesn't translate to success in the knockout stage. Other side of the bracket is easier, but I think winner of Spain-Croatia is your other finalist. Sorry England.......
  10. Interesting day to say the least. Mexico con mucha buena suerte to advance after looking horrific against a side in Sweden whose FIFA ranking coming in was lower than Costa Rica. I think the win over Germany said more about Germany than it did Mexico and the Tri will get bounced by the Selecao in the Round of 16, as is par for the course for Mexico. Nothing good happens for Germany in Russia.......nothing. Brazil looked good when they needed to today.......still not feeling a title for them this year.....other than 1958 Brazil, no non-European team has won a WC in a UEFA host country and the best 2 sides to this point have been Belgium and Croatia. Could be an all European semifinals the way the bracket is shaping up. CONCACAF look poor but that wasn't surprising to anyone that watched qualifying. Mexico will do what they always do, but Costa Rica is worse than 4 years ago, Panama shouldn't even be here, and we all know about the US issues. England-Belgium tomorrow. Loser may end up on an easier side of the bracket, but do you want to intentionally lose. If Belgium want to avoid Brazil for some reason that is what they would have to do or draw and have more yellow cards than England which is how the tiebreaker currently sits. Very interesting game. My guess is Belgium play to win and don't worry about Brazil, especially since they may very well be the better team.
  11. You see the brick....you see the brick.......you got it. What a nut......loved watching his sportscasts as a kid.
  12. Croatia is definitely legit. Wouldn't be shocked to see them through to the semi-finals and perhaps beyond depending how the other side of the bracket shakes out.
  13. I don't care about Brody. I was up on 96th Street today, there was a kid couldn't have been more than ten years old. He was asking a street vendor if he had any other bootlegs as good as Death Blow. That's who I care about. The little kid who needs bootlegs, because his parent or guardian won't let him see the excessive violence and strong sexual content you and I take for granted.
  14. While technically true, unless the poster got into a Delorean with a flux capacitor, there were no Whataburgers in Southern California in 2006. Last one closed sometime in the 80's. http://www.laweekly.com/restaurants/top-9-now-defunct-la-fast-food-restaurant-chains-the-return-of-3-2383855
  15. no pics....and it didn't last much beyond that weekend......
  16. It was Bubba Jacques with the scoop and score. Only reason I really remember that is I had brought a date from UNT to the game and the scoop and score happened when she left to either go to the bathroom or get a drink. Only really exciting moment of the game and she missed it.
  17. Dash was like an honorary Austin band......vaguely remember seeing them when Fred LeBlanc (of Cowboy Mouth fame) was their drummer in the late 80s.
  18. JOEY I think you're the greatest. But my Dad says you don't work hard enough on defense. ...and that lots of times you don't even run down court. ...and that you don't really try, except during the playoffs. MURDOCK The hell I don't! I'm out there busting my buns every night. Listen, kid, I've been hearing that crap ever since I was at UCLA. Tell your old man to drag Walton and Lanier up and down the court for forty-eight minutes.
  19. Buddy of mine and I thought up this one over cocktails last night. Great college band for Notre Dame, Boston College, and their ilk Opus Dei and the Knights of Columbus Frat parties can rock to the sweet sounds of "Shout (for Jesus)" and "Shama Lama Praise God" (oh-oh-oh-oh)
  20. That's not going to be good for anyone......
  21. I'm sorry, I don't have a square to spare.......
  22. Why Ed does this mean we're not friends anymore? You know Ed, if I thought you weren't my friend... I just don't think I could bear it!
  23. Dark Helmet: Lone Starr, I am your father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate. Lone Starr: What does that make us? Dark Helmet: Absolutely Nothing!
