That was a good bit and Zalatoris embraced the comparison but I've always thought he's more Beavis than HG caddie.
Interesting that they used Dechambeau and Koepka to play on the "good guys" side too.
My wife and I were lounging by the pool on Saturday and we didn't have plans for later. She said, "We can watch Happy Gilmore 2" tonight and I said, sure. (We have a friend who was drunk texting us about it on Friday.) After cleaning the kitchen, we fired it up. About 30 mins in, I asked her if she'd seen HG1. She laughed and said, "Nope." We laughed and laughed and laughed. Now it's on the list before it leaves Netflix on 7/31. (Not sure I have the DVD/BR for that one. That was back in the VHS days.)
At any rate, it was an easy way to kill two hours. Using the actual footage from HG1 for the callback jokes was probably unnecessary. I've been a Sandler fan since his SNL days and he seems like a really great dude in real life but he's definitely lost his fastball. If the original HG is an 8 or 9, this is a 6 at best. I laughed at points. The comparison to Caddyshack 2 is legit -- the mini-golf themed Bushwood vs the tricked-up LIV-style Maxi Tour was kinda similar.
