  1. Whichever one takes over will not meddle on the football side as much as Jerry does.
  2. He was also a true freshman. I hope so. I feel like we left a LOT on the table at times last season.
  3. They could do all that and MAGA WILL NOT CARE! Trump has poisoned their brains in the last seven years with repeated lies and dismissals of the truth as "fake media." He could go down for ALL of his four court cases, be thrown in jail for the rest of his life and they still WON'T believe their lying eyes. Hell, he could himself come out and say, "You know, uh, everything that I've said the last seven years is total bullshit" and they would twist themselves into a pretzel with ideas that he's being coerced by the Deep State Illuminati to say these things publicly.
  4. 'Human' skin suit wearing out. Lizardperson spotted!
  5. What do we figure this is? 'Trump Leaves Trump Tower With Mysterious Marks on his Fingers' https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12974087/trump-e-jean-carroll-defamation-trial-updates.html
  6. Revenge of the Nerds doesn't belong in discussion of definitive HS movies. It is a Gen X staple, for sure, but doesn't fit eligibility requirements for this discussion. (The Program was on HBO Max the other night -- or maybe it was MGM+ -- and I'd forgotten how bad that movie is. Young Halle Berry makes it almost watchable.) Reminds me of a totally non-related movie quote that kinda fits this discussion Yeah, WarGames is a big, big miss by me. Much better flick than Red Dawn too.
  7. I was born in late '72 and the John Hughes movies were absolutely right in my wheelhouse. If forced to choose from all Gen X-era movies mentioned, I think I'd probably pick one of Breakfast Club or Heathers, the latter being a much edgier flick, as the definitive Gen X movie. Don't suppose The Goonies qualifies as a HS movie as the main kids were probably middle schoolers.
  8. Same. I think Stephen will be a different kind of owner than Jerry.
  9. Beat me to it. Was just coming to post this one. Great flick. Sticking with Mel Gibson, how about OG Mad Max?
  10. We're busting out 10-wide formations in 2024
  11. I don't think he'd be in football if Jerry hadn't called him three seasons ago. I don't think anybody would hire him now either. (All that said, I'd take what Rodgers says with a grain of salt. I don't think he needs to be challenging anybody else's IQ level.) The defense needs a serious talent infusion. Our LB's were TINY this season once LVE, who wasn't exactly Mike Singletary, was forced to retire. We don't have a run-stopper In the middle of the line. Our DB's are suspect or boom-or-bust (Bland/Diggs). Parsons either tires himself out by the end of the season or playoff teams just scheme him better. He was non-existent Sunday.
  12. Recorded it. Will be checking this out.
  13. And one (maybe two) of the popular girls in Cindy Mancini's clique was a Playboy Playmate. Amanda Peterson was so damn hot. I think you're right and she was 15 or 16 when they filmed Can't Buy Me Love. She was a train wreck later in life, though. (Oh, and Seth Green was Mancini's little brother.)
  14. Now imagine Biden had flown on Epstein's "Lolita Express" seven times like Trump. Holy shit, that would be all you heard about.
  15. This is a good take. I'd also argue that while Gen X is the smallest of the generations in existence today we've got an inordinate number of the "classic" HS-era, coming-of-age films because the 80's was jam-packed with them. It was movie upon movie upon movie. John Hughes was a big part of that. Fast Times at Ridgemont High Sixteen Candles The Breakfast Club Ferris Bueller's Day Off Pretty In Pink Weird Science Less Than Zero Heathers Porky's Better Off Dead Risky Business Can't Buy Me Love Back to the Future (though I guess you could give this one to Boomers) Teen Wolf Private School Valley Girl Some Kind of Wonderful Footloose Summer School Dead Poet's Society Red Dawn The Outsiders (see Back to the Future note) Just One of the Guys Three O'Clock High
  16. The thing is the Jones boys aren't the only ones doing this. When you have to commit more money (higher AAV) so you free up cap money to sign other stars like CeeDee and Micah (we can debate whether those two are worth it after Sunday's game), the system is bad.
  17. She goes from “We are not a racist country” to “I faced racism growing up” in the same 60-second soundbyte https://www.threads.net/@aaron.rupar/post/C2KsFv0gSP_/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
  18. Unfortunately, they've made it a QB-centric league. What's obscene is the percentage of a salary cap a veteran QB's salary takes of a team's total cap. Any salary cap system that allows this: https://www.si.com/nfl/cowboys/news/dak-prescott-signing-new-dallas-cowboys-highest-paid-ever-contract-impact-green-bay-packers-playoffs-jerry-jones is fucking stupid AF.
  19. More Trumplican/MAGA stupidity: https://www.mediaite.com/news/woman-at-trump-rally-says-absolutely-she-wants-biden-to-be-executed-for-treason-and-jesus-would-be-cool-with-it/ Woman At Trump Rally Says ‘Absolutely’ She Wants Biden To Be Executed For ‘Treason’ — And Jesus Would Be Cool With It
  20. Damn. Far too young. My wife's close group of friends lost two guys at 49 three or four years ago, both to heart attack. One was definitely self-inflicted. Needless to say, I was a little skittish after hitting 49 -- I was almost looking forward to turning 50 to get past that dreaded '49.'
  21. I've seen Kyle and Tucker called a lot of things but "swirls" is a new one. I might start using that.
