  1. I think that's a big part of the idea for FOM, but not for Vegas. Vegas wants to (a) make a shit-ton of money off of the weekend and (b) attract more international travelers to come to Vegas (to make a shit-ton of money later on). Vegas during the day isn't exactly that appealing, esp on TV. At night it's like a completely different place.
  2. Because 'Vegas Baby' at night and because European market that the casinos are trying to market it to.
  3. More ... FIA boss Ben Sulayem wants more F1 teams and fewer races https://www.reuters.com/sports/motor-sports/fia-boss-ben-sulayem-wants-more-f1-teams-fewer-races-2023-10-09/#:~:text=Red Bull boss Christian Horner,races%2C" continued Ben Sulayem.
  4. Sorry, the MBS quote I referred to before is in this article: https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/f1-venues-could-lose-races-over-track-limit-problems-says-fia/10531032/ He's not shy about talking about cutting races. IMHO that's aimed at FOM and not at the tracks themselves.
  5. At first this article seems like it's about track limits, but there at the end, MBS also points out who the actual owner of the sport is ... the landlord of the leased property. It's about a whole lot more than just track limits. FIA threaten two races with F1 calendar axe over track limits fiasco https://www.planetf1.com/news/fia-threaten-axe-qatar-austria-track-limits
  6. When dipshit was talking about how tough the Astros' first 4 batters are, I said to myself "Wait, what about #5?" Heh...
  7. Wow wtf, that's not an error. That's a double. Fuckers.
  8. So apparently this Pirelli F1 contract is to be its last. Light at the end of the tunnel then ...
  9. From the 'you can't make this shit up' files: Formula 1 to change building name to avoid 1 October shooter affiliation https://www.reviewjournal.com/sports/motor-sports/formula-1/formula-1-to-change-building-name-to-avoid-1-october-shooter-affiliation-2899481/amp/ And then there's this bit of good news as wel. : / Pirelli extended to 2027 after beating out Bridgestone. www.formula1.com/en/latest/article.pirelli-to-continue-as-formula-1s-exclusive-tyre-supplier-until-2027.7xJIxJyMe84N3p7k4iIMjK.html
  10. Yeah, fucking this. I've been to 30 or more of the last 41 Texxas - ou sucks games, but all this nonsense is making me really rethink my disappointment over not getting tickets this year, and making me question whether I'll chance having to put up with this kind of bullshit in the future. I can only tolerate so much stupid.
  11. Were asses kicked? Was that dipshit MikeUT8750 from the "How not to sit with ou" thread there douching it up? Did you "take whatever is given to you, and like it", like he said we'd do?
  12. That's amazing that it's that bad. I know Dart's not trying to move everyone out of there. Probably not even 10%, and they apparently can't even handle that. An example of somewhere that does it right is Montreal, with the Canadian Grand Prix. Upwards of 140K people attending on race day, and 99% of them get there via one Metro line from downtown. They add trains to the route so that they're running like every 3 minutes. You're nbot crammed in like sardines, and it works like fucking clockwork. Every time I've been, I'm in the station for no more than about 5-10 minutes. So it can certainly be done.
  13. Y'all were probably just still deaf from the last UT home game you attended.
  14. Cool, cool, cool. Looks a lot like what I sent them. I'm certain they're working hard to incorporate our ideas as we speak.
  15. Yep. I'd much rather be optimistic and be disappointed sometimes than just assume we're gonna lose all the time. If I do the latter, just waiting for a loss, then for me there's no point in even watching. Fuck it. Let's win 6 and then go beat the shit outta ou sucks or whoever. 🤘
  16. In other news, I just saw this and chortled. Wish there was a gif for it. F1 Standings: Alpine: 90 Alonso: 183
  17. Bro do you even COTA? : )
  18. F1 has zero fucks to give about attendance. That money goes to the circuit. They want sanctioning fees and TV/merch money. Remember what Bernie used to call the crowd? The "studio audience".
  19. They left out one key takeaway - that the stewards found Lewis 'predominantly at fault'. So that's 3 similar incidents for Lewis in the last year or so, where he's chopping down on someone on his right that he knows is there. This one, on Alonso at Spa 2022, and on Piastri at Monza. Seems like he just thinks he's clear of the other car when he isn't (giving him the benefit of the doubt), or possibly he just doesn't care or thinks the other guy will back out. Not good in any of those scenarios. Really seems to me like he's misjudging it for some reason.
  20. Just watched Ted's Notebook. Williams personnel told him that Logan had a bug earlier in the weekend and he wasn't able to get completely rehydrated in time for the race. Also said he's ok.
  21. Oh yeah I understand the political reasons. I just meant weather isn't a good enough reason to not have the events imho. Apparently next year this race is 6 weeks later, which people are saying is significantly cooler there.
  22. Maybe, but next Sept 1 for WEC the temp will likely be a little hotter and the humidity a lot higher here than it was in Qatar today. And we'll have football games, baseball, racing, and more going on.
  23. *above. Can someone start doing my typing for me? JFC.
  24. So here's a thought. WEC races here next September 1, and we all know what kind of heat that will mean. They have cooling in the cars, but the rules just say they have to keep it 7C about outside ambient temps. That means they could very likely have temps around 120F in their closed cockpit cars. For 6 hours.
