  1. I’m curious what the numbers were for tudn broadcast. USA games are always higher on Spanish speaking stations in comparison to English speaking ones like fox. I wonder if it stayed flat while fox went up.
  2. This was on pbs back in The late 90s and is terrific. I was surprised at how good the actual episode was after watching the sausage being made.
  3. My son played at trinity and graduated about a year ago. He played for a DA (now it’s mls pro) team in dallas and was regularly scouted at winter showcases in Florida and summer ones in other locations. The team also played in dallas cup where there were plenty of scouts. He intended to play D1 but injured his knee senior year. After rehabbing and playing high school for the first time, he had a few offers from small d1 and d3 schools. He chose one where the the academics and the soccer were strong. I would encourage y’all to attend the camps of any preferred realistic universities. If the coaches like him and he likes the setting then keep building a relationship. My son went to several summer camps at colleges. Coaches can formally contact recruits on or after sept 1 of their junior year. And a few did due to his attendance at summer camps and from tournaments. He didn’t score high enough on his tests for brown so the coach moved on. Good academics are key for getting a spot. He got academic money at trinity that made the costs reasonable. Trinity does a great job of selling itself and still hits me up for money. If location doesn’t matter then there are a ton of schools in the east that play soccer at d3 level. The tournament regions are lopsided with eastern teams University of Chicago is always in the west region is ODP still a thing? When he was first rejected for the DA team for being too small. He played odp and made the north Texas team. He then made the all south team when they did religion iv camp at Tuscaloosa. He made the DA team right after and left odp behind. if there is still odp then that’s a chance to play and get seen. Feel free to hit me up with questions.
  4. Colombia let US have the ball, waited for us to make mistakes and then destroyed us on transition. Brazil is going to have the majority of the ball. We won’t have the ball enough for Brazil to beat us on a counterattack. They can straight up just beat us. So, we’ll look better but we won’t be better. Questions: Will McKennie put forth effort in this friendly? Will pulisic play more than a half? Most importantly, will Adam’s play some? If defense matters more than passing out of the back then Miles Robinson will start.
  5. You should check out the English mini series. Tinker Tailor + Smileys People.
  6. And creator of Caddyshack as well as co-writing Animal House. Jumped off a Kauai cliff full of coke for his swan dive…er song, so the kid has that to look forward too.
  7. Not a fan of Habys but thumbs up on Dzuik’s. BAKED is new and pretty good for rich pastries. A wonderful name to boot. I had to alter my search for “best food near me” to just “food near me” as best choice results were not in town.
  8. I feel at home here in Little Alsace since I had an ancestor by the name of Hequembourg. Although it could have been a wily Scot who took the name to advance his silversmith business. Or a kindly Alsatian couple that adopted someone from “The most wretched, miserable, servile, pathetic trash that was ever shat into civilization”.
  9. In Castroville for a week. Got 3” the Alsatian ladies love it. Just might be able to swim in the upper Medina later this week.
  10. Right before this photo snapped, Beard was wearing reading glasses.
  11. Medina lake status here we come.
  12. It’s also an opportunity for him to grow. He needs to tell his dad to back off. What might have been good for his dad ain’t good for him and take charge of his choices. If he shines with the US this summer there will be an opportunity. He needs to stay healthy and go to the right team. 21 is too young to be washed up.
  13. ESPN stated Toopin will go to his home state to ether tech, tcu or Texas. I would assume Texas has the most to offer but is there any read to who he’s favoring and when a decision will be made?
  14. Trust fund parent and 13 yo kid moved to Brazil for 6 months so kid could play futsal. My kid and his kid tried out for UC Davis. His kid got an offer and my kid enjoyed the hell out of San Francisco on our visit.
  15. Keita to BYU.
  16. The ghosts of right backs past. Let’s not see Reggie Cannon, Shaq Moore or Deandre Yedlin. Rather not have Weah play back there. Let’s try 3 defenders and use Weah and Robinson as wing backs in upcoming friendlies. Richards, Ream and Carter-Vickers as back 3.
  17. Nice thing about yttv is that there is no limit on recording. So the nit final was available between seton hall and isu. Seton hall had the two best players in Richmond and Davis the other seton hall player Daws was the high scorer but didn’t stand out like these two Davis is going to play for miss and Richmond is now ranked first in the portal. Of the two guys who transferred to Texas, Larry was the more influential player. He hit several threes and had a couple of drives but wasn’t a ball dominant guard as the pg. he’s a little loose with his dribble. His defense was pretty good against Richmond but he’s no shut down defender. Kent was referred to as the best cutter in college basketball and he did that a few times but looked to be strictly a complementary player. ISU played thru Avila as well as swope, conwell and Larry. Texas has a chance to do the same with Pope, Mark, Johnson, Weaver and Larry. As everyone knows a front line of Kent and Shedrick will need help. Can Onyema improve over the summer? Who else will they get? And then can the coaching staff get all the pieces to matter?
  18. White Freightliner Blues -TVZ. King of the Road - Roger Miller I've been to a Georgia on a Fast Train - Billie Joe Shaver. Road to Nowhere - Talking Heads Roadrunner - Bo Diddly And for the way home… I Wanna Go Home - Van Morrison, Lonny Donegan, Chris Barber.
  19. NBA scouting report from SI for Mark is below. This will be his last year in college. He’s improved his 3 pt percentage. He’s a take. In terms of his game, Mark is an off-ball guard with a high motor. He makes hustle plays and is a really good rebounder for his position. He has a strong frame and really uses it to his advantage on both ends. Mark is disruptive in passing lanes on the defensive end and gives good effort.
  20. I like the message Texas is sending. If you can’t perform at the quality you’re being compensated for, then it’s time to move on and we’ll get somebody who can.
  21. TJ was always a good ft shooter. He went 78% as a freshman to 82% as a sophomore. He was a bad 3 point shooter (15% and 25.5%) but hit them at critical times. I’m Aldridge hurt his hip and had surgery before his freshman year ended. He spent the summer sitting on a stool and working on his shot.
  22. if Terry gives us one first round ncaa tourney win per year for the next 3 years and a mediocre regular season will Texas fire him?
  23. On this rewatch, I’m enjoying the smaller moments. Avon and D visit Avon’s brother in the public hospital. D doesn’t want to be there and doesn’t take in the wisdom of… .and how you ain't never gonna be slow, never be late?
  24. Who would you add at midfield instead? Acosta, oh wait we’re playing indoors.
