  1. Kids in planes….oops, that was mine. And, Texas heat. This place is awful right now.
  2. Fair point especially since they are everywhere and thongs are now apparently abundant and even on people that should be wearing them. But, with the fam and don’t want to be a creeper.
  3. Hah. I almost didn’t post for that exact reason. But, genuinely interested to see what’s “acceptable”.
  4. People. I have pretty much sat here for 9 days. To my left is the walkway to the pools, bathrooms etc. no biggie. To my right are a few more cabanas. Let’s say you are a cabana to my right. I would think the proper thing to do is walk outside those lounge chairs and and not in between the cabana and lounge chairs (the lounge chairs belong to the cabana). Yet, about half of my neighbors de jour seem to walk between me and the lounge chairs. Noticed pretty consistently the ones that do are from the northeast. oh, about half confuse this place with a sandals in Cancun (NTTAWW sandals or Cancun, it’s just not here) also and try to play their own music that gets weird with the resort music. The resort staff shuts that down pretty quickly. Am I being too picky and old with too high of expectations of others?
  5. Did you really expect an Austin driver to drive differently while on vacation?
  6. I have taken a lot of people on rides and I think my favorite line ever was “dude, you trust this car more than I have ever trusted anything in my life”. I never really thought about it before but he was right. Takes a huge amount of trust going into some braking zones.
  7. I have a random itch for a Daytona but there is no chance I am paying above MSRP for it. For you aficionados, when do you think this will calm down.
  8. Are they not expecting to turn a profit at some point? I kinda feel they are making this investment, then they have control, then they can turn a profit. Somewhat like a hostile takeover. It's not fair. But, that's life. Little guys get taken out by big guys all the time...and vice versa. But, even with that being against Saudi which I can somewhat understand, why blame the players? Because they all should have banned together to agree to make less money in support of an organization they don't own, control, or in same cases even like? If I were a player heading into my less competitive years and someone offers me easily more than I would make in the rest of my career and it sets my family up for generational wealth, it would be hard not to take it unless I had Tiger money. Again, I really don't care one way or the other. While I play golf all the time, I only watch it to take a nap.
  9. I drove the plaid and, not to sound like too much of an old guy, a general person off the street or a kid should not be able to drive that car without some training/experience.
  10. Just for the sake of discussion since I hear opposing views on this...why? A common take that I hear, and hard to disagree with, is that this is these guys job....that they do for money. Just like in the corporate world, if someone offers you a chance to make more than you would the rest of your life for a new job and you can work less, why wouldn't you take it?
  11. They were/are my cousins and absolutely love that heart attack inducing place. There were a ton of times the chicken fried steak with eggs and grits were the highlight of my fishing/duck hunting trip on my way back home.
  12. After 45 miles in, it randomly doesn’t seem to know the tailgate is actually closed and have to go back there, open it and then re-close it to make the computer stop. This is gonna be awesome. Luckily, it is a 22 with 2,900 miles so still plenty of warranty. The good news is, i hear the closest dealership sucks balls.
  13. I would guess that at least 80-90% of Americans have never even read the second amendment. Just for the record, I am about as republican as it gets, I have read the second amendment and don’t believe the 2nd amendment allows us to own whatever gun we want.
  14. Really impressed by the amount of people I see in the background watching golf with a beer in their hand without a cell phone.
  15. I talked to a few that were and went ahead and pulled the trigger. If it doesn’t work out, I have a line on a replacement in about 6 months so will dump it then. But, in the meantime, I needed a baby hauler and nothing else jumped out at me. I have driven it 30 whole miles with no problems, fingers crossed, lol.
  16. In fairness, it’s been two separate races for a long time. But, I certainly see your point. Good luck passing Alonso at Monaco.
  17. The sport or the full size? Also, if you don’t mind me asking, what was the issue.
  18. What do we know about Range Rovers? I haven’t had one in 15 years and the last one was a major piece of shit that spent half of its time in the shop and told myself I would never buy another one. I now find myself interested in a 22 HSE P525 Westminster with 2,900 miles as a daily driver. I have heard since the new company took over they are much more reliable. Dealer dropped it of today for me to drive and think about it and I am really impressed. Is this new car fever or did they manage to turn this brand around.
  19. Sorry ahead of time for the long post. But, I think you all can help and wanted to give you the details and I appreciate any thoughts and recommendations. My sister, who is 53 and has been a problem child since about 13, has been messing with drugs and alcohol pretty heavy since 30 and is in a little more than a bit of trouble. Married three times. Two kids with the first husband (that started at 17 due to a pregnancy). Third child was with the second husband. Around 30 she got divorced from number 2 and went off the rails. Long story short, a lot of in and out of our lives due to starting drugs again, running out of resources and coming back for my family to clean everything up and get her back on track. She gets there and the same routine starts over and usually in a short period of time. I can’t count how many times this has happened. After enough of this, two kids went to live with their dad (2nd husband had adopted them by now and the oldest was out of the house) in a completely different state. More than a few more repetitions of the cycle and she gets clean with a lot of encouragement/support from my parents. Does really well for herself for a few years. She was very successful at what she was doing despite us having to buy her high school diploma. Tried to re-connect with her kids, etc. But, again, attracted the wrong people and started down the same road once she got on her feet. She developed some form of paranoia that people were coming to get her, stealing from her and tracking her every move. Ended up throwing away a very lucrative business. Rehab again. Comes out, goes to a halfway house for about a year, comes out and tries to get her life back on track again. Same cycle started over. The lack of use of drugs and alcohol put on weight (she is very vain) so that started some form of speed which led to other things, etc. This turned into a call a couple months ago from my dad saying she was recently placed in ICU for an overdose, left AMA, he found her, put her in a detox, she left there too and didn’t know where she was. About a week later she ended up in another 60 day rehab. She got out of there about a week ago and then gets in a car wreck while drunk (apparently she also takes 5 bottles a day of some weird herb that comes from some tree bark that I don’t know what it is). So, now we are at today. My dad asked if we should do an intervention. I don’t think anyone in my family, including her kids, are interested. I also think it wouldn’t help, we have done this before, and if what she has gone through hasn’t woke her up, nothing will. I am also under the impression you can’t fix someone unless they want to be fixed. My concern is that while she has a ton of people trying to collect from her from past bad decisions, now she has an actual real deadline for court that will result in her having to show up or face jail (which I think might actually help). I truly believe that she will now feel she won’t be able to come back from this family damage, financial obligations, legal issues and we aren’t far from my next call from my Dad that she is gone. All that said and dumped on you, is there anything me or my dad can do?
  20. Checked it out today for the first time and did not disappoint.
  21. A little late but this person lives in my neighborhood and has a cool idea. They take a picture of your child’s fingerprint and turn it into jewelry. https://www.lovetalla.com
  22. It’s worth visiting. Also, for the Granbury/Ft. Worth people. What’s that stand/trailer in Cresson right outside the track? It’s killer too.
