  1. Finally someone who will engage my hypothetical. And again, y’all, I agree that given cumulative résumés of the five schools under consideration for a one seed, Texas should clearly get one. I would just really like to avoid UConn prior to the F4.
  2. I agree with you. I merely wanted to post the question to see what the ideal scenario may look like.
  3. Like many here, I believe the committee won't fall victim to recency bias, BUT what are the alternatives where a two seed makes more competitive sense for Texas? For instance, if we land a one seed but get UConn as our two, I'm not sure that's better than being the first two in USC's region.
  4. Yep. I agree with everything you said. I don't see him getting two more titles in Denver though. We'll see.
  5. If Cam Williams falls to the top of the third, I think he probably should have come back. The drop off in salary/signing bonus is pretty material from where he was originally rumored (late first) to early third (see below). Had he come back (especially if he played LT), it seems like it would have made a real difference. However, that's just my opinion and I have no real idea what next year's crop of tackles looks like. Mid/Later Round 1:
  6. Certainly would have helped with outside shooting. Teams wouldn't be able to sag back in a 2-3/2-1-2 zone if Phelia/Holle or Phelia/Lee were on the court most of the time. That would then open up the interior to feed the bigs. Get Phelia healthy and back, get Chavez on campus, and secure a portal big to spell Oldacre and next year looks very promising. One can dream all these variables align...
  7. Dead on, Js1. Other than holding SCar to a poor shooting percentage and dominance by Jones and Oldacre, these were strategic underpinnings of the win at home.
  8. This. Which is hilarious given how much a combination of fundamentals and mentally-sound hitting and pitching strategy is required to consistently win in any given season.
  9. Given your track record already this season...
  10. I'll take that bet, Kendall.
  11. What would it take for Joker to seriously enter GOAT conversations? The dude owns some crazy records already. I don't think the average fan entertains the notion as a possibility because he's not "as fun" (read: athletically high flying) to watch as Kareem, Jordan, Kobe, or LeBron in their primes. However, he's insanely skilled in most facets of the game - especially for a center. And seemingly, when current NBA players are asked about the best player in the league, most say it's Joker.
  12. I hope your info is right (not saying it's wrong). I would love to watch a Texas team coached by Oats.
  13. Negged for being completely false on multiple points. Whether or not an intentional bit, this is too dumb a post to not neg.
  14. Many of these schools have smaller parks (385 or 390 to center) compared to the Disch. Many have not played very good competition and most of the games have been at home. However, the teams have talent too. That all being said, there are often high scores in conference play. This is the norm in the SEC.
  15. While that would be extremely nice, Gerry said that though... so, disregard?
  16. Read the below again Gerry is stating that $7-8 mil/year is on the table. However, Texas doesn't want to commit to a buy out over $5 mil. Overall, it allows Texas to commit to one of the best comp packages in college basketball. That's all positive and Gerry is stating it as such. Look, I'm not saying that Gerry is definitely right. But I'm not sure how the above compensation package is bad.
  17. CDC appears to have near total decision-making authority with the athletic department outside of men's basketball and football. Football and basketball involve so much money in terms of buy outs and annual salary that a greater number of donors/university figureheads are involved. He did not hire Sark on his own accord and it appears this hire will be slightly similar (slightly because football is certainly a more in depth team - BOR, president, AD, etc. - effort). Gerry and Bobby are pretty well connected to the athletic department, other Texas admin, and BMDs. Why they don't know everything, I believe you're discounting their information too much. Also, no one has said $5 mil buyout + 7-8mil/annually is too much. That's what they're wanting/expecting to spend. I get you want Texas to reset the market and get the best possible, but that isn't going to happen.
  18. "Break the bank" by Texas' historical standards for men's basketball. However, again though, what Gerry offered up is actually an increase in spending of what we obtained Beard for - both in buyout and annual salary. I don't really understand what you're arguing about. They're not taking a step back, at all.
  19. This right here. Hell, it's basically the exact same type of spending scenario. However, as Gerry reported, we're willing to offer 2-3 million/year more than Beard's initial deal. Just don't want to have to pay a massive buyout to obtain the guy.
  20. Beard didn't get fired because he was arrested. He was fired because he didn't seem to understand, was entirely unapologetic, and lacked any personal responsibility as to how his role in the events was unsuitable for such a prominent figure at the University of Texas. Had he shown even a modicum of remorse for his role in the situation, he probably wouldn't have been fired.
  21. To give full transparency, I performed minimal research, as I try to avoid that board as much as possible. However, he was arguing some extremely far-sided views and just being an idiot poster overall. Enough that the collective group felt he should go. That’s the extent I’ll describe outside of that hell hole.
  22. It appears that it was a Cloak Room clusterfuck.
  23. Silly is one way to put it right now. UTRGV having the #5 SOS versus Texas’ at 145 is “interesting.” I know with more data this becomes a really good analytical tool, but the small sample size makes for some absurd early season results.
  24. I’m going to get shit for this, but as a good as Rori is on defense and how much we love her overall, her lack of a three-point threat limits the upside of this team. As another said, we’re UH (except on the women’s side) until this roster becomes more well rounded offensively. Now, that still makes for a really good team, but if we want to win a title, it’ll have to change.
  25. I believe he meant to the second or third one seed. Not to the two or three line.
