  1. They’ve just gotten better and better as the season has progressed.
  2. Well, I'm now pretty damn certain CJ Vogel reads Surly: When you see this, CJ, I wish you a happy Memorial Day weekend.
  3. But he has "prototypical size and measureables!"
  4. Looking at this gives me MAX weiner.
  5. Get Jonah out there.
  6. I wholeheartedly agree. I’m not upset with Schloss. I’m saying the hitting coaching needs work.
  7. I hear you. But what’s the point of a hands-on coaching approach that doesn’t improve on-field results? No one is bitching about the strategy of taking pitches. We’re bitching out striking out swinging on stupid ass pitches that are off the plate.
  8. From a hitting strategy standpoint, yes. However, Tulo working with hitters consistently during the season has been discussed on broadcasts repeatedly.
  9. You mean, the other guy who Ks all the time?
  10. I don’t agree. His average is low, but he does have a propensity to come up with clutch hits in these types of situations. Also, puts the DP into play.
  11. Underrated post haha
  12. Yep. We called it earlier in the game. Hit the ace who was throwing 97 mph FBs and wondered why they weren’t throwing more breaking pitches. Now, we’re totally incompetent against the lefty throwing breaking balls.
  13. Also just full of Tigers, which has always been a funny mascot for a team in the US to me. Imagine if they did. We'd stand no chance /aggy, probably
  14. Not only that, he started his career at Texas A&M...
  15. Yeah, I'm surprised they aren't throwing more sliders and breaking balls. I don't know much about Doyle's pitching repertoire (other than he has great stats on the year), but it should be obvious to opponents what we struggle with by now...
  16. MENDOZA!!!
  17. That's one way to garner some momentum when you're struggling at the plate. I'm curious if that was a sign, or on his own accord. Seems like we never situationally bunt, but players will lay one down when they notice the infield is playing back.
  18. Tennessee's ace at 68 pitches through 3.1 is very nice for us.
  19. I don’t know about everyone else, but I, for one, do not want the divulgence of these fanciful stories to end. Shit, let’s sit back and allow WWIII to take shape, Surly style.
  20. Welp. Yep, his career at A&M is over. Not that it’s that much earlier than it would have been. Yep, should have been a strike.
  21. It’s certainly a 6yo mindset. “I’ll keep playing outside until my parents call me in to stop.” Wouldn't it be amazing if Texas and aggy both made it to the final and Texas sent them home and ruined their AQ chance? That would be the ultimate analogy to the above mindset.
  22. Yep. That makes perfect sense. And likely kept it that way since they were starting early again this week. Things should change back if they make a Super. Maybe so for the Regional, but I doubt it, since they’ll be a host.
  23. They switched up the rotation (flipped Phillips and Doyle) for their final SEC series against Arkansas. Not sure why. But yes, Doyle has been the Friday guy all year until last week. Arkansas hit him hard; hopefully, we do the same. I don't care if we win this tournament, or not, but I'd like to beat Tennessee for a variety of reasons. Either way, just don't fucking get hurt, anyone.
  24. Most of this was pretty spot on, except for, “but to take a deep breath, gently turn off the TV…” Aggy typically has the emotional regulation skills (lack thereof) of a two-year-old, especially if Texas is involved. Otherwise, that was an entertaining read. There’s no way in hell, when push comes to shove, that a Texas legacy, especially one of a highly successful skill-position player, will let their kid go to A&M. J. Finley is going about this the right way with his son, but he’s not landing in College Station - especially right now due to a multitude of factors. Ain’t no way.
  25. Yep. I would like Alabama to make this a game and force Tennessee to use at least one top bullpen arm. Otherwise, it’s not really an issue for Tennessee, as Doyle has been the better starting pitcher for the Vols even though he’s the Saturday/second starter.
