  1. My first thought at the new stadium discussion was to move their sorry asses back in the Astrodome. Maybe just the front office. The players didn't do anything to deserve it. It's dumb as hell that it is still standing.
  2. Combination of the thread title and this article drove my response with the facts/ numbers. As for the rest, you are not alone...
  3. I am not confused. The gatekeeper posters are. My posts were and are relevant. I posted a factual comparison with SoCal and Texas and people let their political leanings drive their responses. Cannot have a discussion here. Everything is rooted in fear and evil. If you don't embrace those, you are somehow a threat. What the fuck ever.
  4. I'm so glad the typical idiots are here to correct me. Potentially "historic wildfire conditions" Tuesday. Not in Southern California...
  5. Now compare it with population density, higher winds, and drier conditions in SoCal. I didn't say there wasn't risk in Texas, but also didn't make the thread title either. Typical surly bullshit, "This is gonna be way worser than Cali!"
  6. LOLz. Overreact much? Of course you do. I simply posted facts in the post drawing chopper's reaction. If we are qualifying our outrage or feelings though, I have a son/ DIL who live in Burbank, basically triangulated by wildfires; but I didn't feel it was relevant in the discussion, nor is your BIL's situation more dire.
  7. Sharing perspective is dumb as hell, right? I know should hate Texas more... The premise of the thread is false, or at a minimum, grossly misstated.
  8. Are giddy at Valley Ranch not tripping over their own dicks to sign a player? SMDH. That's not really cause for celebration. It's more amazing that they didn't further hamstring the organization for once.
  9. That heifer had it coming.
  10. Now do number of human deaths or $'s in property damage. The Texas numbers are greatly driven by the range fires like the Smokehouse last March in the Panhandle, which torched over 1655 square miles/ 1MM acres. 2 People died as did over 7000 cattle. Rhode Island is 1545 square miles, for comparison. The adjacent "Windy Deuce" fire burned 144k acres. A third fire, the GrapeVine Creek event SE of Pampa was the little guy at 34, 882 acres burned. The California fires were a series of 14 blazes around the LA metro and south to San Diego County that consumed 5700 acres, 18000 homes and structures, and killed 29 people.
  11. Back in May did some work in Stephens Point. Went to the brewery. Their beer was available at the main restaurants, and I favored the bock. That was a good local beer.
  12. Ain't no shame in a stroll down memory lane.
  13. Outside the spirit of this thread, I'd appreciate the opportunity to buy you an $18 beer at an Astros game some day.
  14. What'd the kiddo think of Eyes Wide Shut? Stuff that chimney!!!
  15. That's a plus I failed to mention. Count me as a fan of pre-purchased seating.
  16. Cowboys already have the biggest run stuffer of all time, and it ain't our friend from Port Arthur.
  17. Why would there be looting in a town filled with aggys?
  18. He can afford tickets either way. The injury doesn't even factor.
  19. The host plenty of whales. They host plenty of whales though.
  20. Why did Idaho and Iowa need to be castrated?
  21. This song came out in 1981. This board has been singing it full throat for some time now...
  22. The handwringing over QB is like worrying about which carrots you want, and there's no roast in the pot.
  23. Subtitles detract from the film to me. The only time I'm OK with it is if the film maker deems it necessary to convey the actors words/ thoughts to me. When we were sharing Netflix accounts, one of my sons would leave subtitles on, and I'd immediately turn them off, at the time I think it was during Peaky Blinders. I've never thought about it like Kingkoopa6 describes above, but it really distracts me from "taking in" everything that's happening on the screen. I actually like the previews, but sometimes, I think to myself, "that's 4 movies I will absolutely NOT be coming to the theater to watch." When our kids were little, they liked the previews, because typically the previews matched up genres with that which we were already there to watch. If we were there to see POTC, and you got 3 romcoms and a horror flick, yeah, they'd be saying, "This sucks!" but if it's the next Spiderman and a Christmas movie or something, yeah, they liked em. Concessions are what they are. We typically would get the big bucket of popcorn and drinks for everyone. We smuggled in candy. No ragrets.
