  1. Damn, I sure do love some high proofs, but my poor liver...
  2. I feel your pain. She won’t use multiple boards, but she’ll make a salad or something with multiple ingredients and NOTHING is put away or cleaned for hours (dirty cutting board, dirty knife, package of lettuce, half used cucumber, half cut bell pepper, salad dressing bottle, salt, pepper). Boggles my mind. It’s like she thinks the salad will go bad if she took one minute to put the ingredients away.
  3. I had called my Specs contact to get a bottle of Taylor Single Barrel for a golf weekend. She said they got their shipment the week prior and they were put on the shelves, but that she would call around and find me a bottle and let me know. She never called and I just figured she couldn't find one. Fast forward a week and she calls and apologizes that she completely forgot about my request and said he coworker found a case of Amaranth in her office (she's been working remotely since COVID started) and offered me a bottle. The others were already spoken for. So, dumb luck on my part really.
  4. No, allocation. My specs contact found a case and hooked me up.
  5. Picked this up today:
  6. I really like the Stags’ Leap Petite Syrah for around $30 as a good value play.
  7. Ha, I didn't wait until the next day, but my kids wanted chopped so I was happy to oblige with the dry flat. Everything worked out well. Now I've got parts of the flat and point left over for some breakfast tacos and perhaps some brisket hash in the coming days.
  8. DAF flat. It got better closer to the point.
  9. I did a brisket yesterday and it turned out pretty well, but the flat was a bit over and the bark on the ends was difficult to cut through. I didn't wrap this time because I was trying out higher temp cooking ~300 - 340. Thoughts on the tough bark? Also wasn't working with an ideal cooker set up: Webber kettle with a coal box and bricks to create a heat shield.
  10. Nice little blend with some filets tonight.
  11. This sums it up nicely.
  12. This is a perfect wine-prick post. Well done. (along with the other two of course)
  13. Gluten free, crossfitter, anti-vaxer? How would you like to drive criss country with that guy? You wouldn’t get a word in edgewise.
  14. I've not had it but it's a highly regarded boutique wine. Made by the Harlan Estate guys.
  15. I’ve rented a car the last few times I’ve gone. It’s nice to be able to hit some of the farther out golf courses without paying $100 each way for a ride. We headed out to Wolf Creek one year and I would not have done that trip without my own car to drive.
  16. Denny’s pancakes better than almost every other pancake I try. I’m certainly ashamed of it, but it’s the truth.
  17. Probably because our porous secondary makes his highlights look better.
  18. Yup, I noticed a stack of Bud Light bottle cases at the grocery store that were plain white and had a large "warning" that they were not twist top. Those cases are made to be sold to bars.
  19. Conspiracy: a secret plan by a group to do something harmful or unlawful The theory is originated in a lab is not a fucking conspiracy.
  20. Is it a conspiracy theory that the Chinese were researching how the virus acts in bats and they had shitty safety procedures? How is that a conspiracy? Seems more like negligence to me. DDD has a good point though: why do we care where it originated?
  21. Nothing fancy, but a simple tenderloin roast turned out fantastic. Roasted potatoes and sautéed green beans.
  22. Found this today and it provides a good summary of stats by country and by state. https://www.realclearpolitics.com/coronavirus/country/united-states/ https://www.realclearpolitics.com/coronavirus/ Interesting to note number of deaths and confirmed cases per 1M of population. Here's the chart for the top 10 in testing: State Deaths Deaths / 1M pop New Deaths Tests Confirmed Cases Confirmed Case Fatality Rate Confirmed Cases / 1M pop Estimated Cases United States Deaths 20,046 - - - 518,236 - - - New York 8,627 443.5 +783 440,980 180,458 4.78% 9,276.3 - Florida 438 20.4 +19 173,187 18,494 2.37% 861.1 - California 598 15.1 +14 164,863 21,448 2.79% 542.8 - Texas 254 8.8 +6 120,533 12,561 2.02% 433.2 - Pennsylvania 494 38.6 +48 120,153 21,655 2.28% 1,691.5 - New Jersey 2,183 245.8 +251 113,523 58,151 3.75% 6,546.9 - Massachusetts 599 86.2 - 102,372 20,974 2.86% 3,018.1 - Louisiana 806 173.4 +51 96,915 20,014 4.03% 4,305.2 - Washington 483 63.4 - 92,999 10,195 4.74% 1,338.8 - Illinois 596 47.0 - 87,527 17,887 3.33% 1,411.6
  23. Did a little chicken milanese the other night with a WWLB sauce. I’m turned out fantastic.
  24. Review of kitchenaid attachment? Did it work pretty well? I'm looking for a meat grinder for beef tallow, but don't want another standalone appliance. I got the plastic one and it worked fine with the meat. However, I got a strip of sinew with fat that bogged it down (the sinew wrapped around the blade and I had to take it apart to get it out). For ~$40 it's probably worth what you pay and I imagine I'm going to break it before too long. I bought a chuck roast I'm going to try and see how that goes. I'll make sure to update once I break it.
