  1. HaHaHaHa... Please, Please, Please 😂😂😂 Ryan Grubb reportedly a candidate for Seahawks offensive coordinator opening DOUG SAMUELS 4 MINUTES AGO Mike Macdonald has his sights on one of the top coordinators in college football. As a bonus, the coach also happens to be very familiar with Seattle. Macdonald, who held his introductory presser as the new head coach of the Seahawks earlier today, is considering Alabama offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb for his offensive coordinator post, per PFT. Mike Floria shares that Grubb is "definitely under consideration for the job," and says that a deal is not finalized. Last month, Grubb left Seattle to follow Kalen DeBoer from Washington to Alabama. Grubb has no previous experience coaching in the NFL, but has prior stops at Fresno State, Eastern Michigan, Sioux Falls (NAIA) and South Dakota State (FCS). His relationship with DeBoer spans back to their days together at Sioux Falls.
  2. Last update on this I saw from Bobby Burton in late Dec:
  3. Sources: Texas State to promote from within for defensive coordinator hire Former NFL, CFL, XFL and AFL player Dexter McCoil has continued his swift rise up the coaching ranks. ZACH BARNETT 3 HOURS AGO Texas State is set to promote Dexter McCoil, Sr., to defensive coordinator, sources told FootballScoop on Thursday. 247Sports first reported the news. McCoil joined the Bobcats in December of 2022 as an original member of GJ Kinne's staff. He coached safeties on Kinne's Incarnate Word staff in 2022, and prior to that coached defensive backs in the Louisiana high school ranks. McCoil and Kinne were teammates at Tulsa in the early 2010s. Following his time as a Golden Hurricane, McCoil played professionally for nine years -- bouncing between the Arena League, the CFL, the NFL, and the XFL. He won CFL Rookie of the Year honors in 2014, won a Grey Cup with the Edmonton Eskimos in 2015, and spent parts of three seasons with the Chargers and 49ers. McCoil replaces Jonathan Patke, who took the defensive coordinator job on Manny Diaz's new Duke staff in December. Texas State is coming off its best season at the FBS level, going 8-5 with a win over Rice in the First Responder Bowl.
  4. Sources: Marcus Freeman stays hot, hanging on to Chad Bowden after Michigan courtship Bowden widely is regarded as an elite personnel, recruiting pro; key to Irish's stellar 2023-24 signing classes JOHN BRICE 1 HOUR AGO
  5. Just a guess... Recently reported that Ford played with an injury during part of this past season. (Might have been some type of hernia injury)
  6. Bobby Burton mentioned hearing Christian Jones might really moving up in draft... one source told him possibly 5th Rd, or a team might even take a shot on him in Rd 4.
  7. Bama hires Eron Hodges from Tcu as associate director of player personnel https://footballscoop.com/news/sources-confirm-alabama-hiring-eron-hodges-from-tcu
  8. Sources confirm Alabama hiring Eron Hodges from TCU DOUG SAMUELS 6 HOURS AGO Eron Hodges has developed a reputation as a top figure in recruiting and personnel over the last several years. He was at Purdue as the director of player personnel while new Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer was at Indiana as the Hoosier's offensive coordinator. Now the two are set to work together in Tuscaloosa. Sources confirm to FootballScoop that Hodges is joining the Crimson Tide staff as associate director of player personnel. Matt Zenitz has shared the same. Hodges leaves a role at TCU, where the position was designed to help him get more involved on the coaching side of things, as he held defensive analyst control responsibilities in addition to being the recruiting coordinator for the program. Before leaving for the TCU opportunity, Hodges helped the Boilermakeres pull in the highest rating recruiting classes in decades. Prior to landing the Purdue job, Hodges was assistant director of player personnel at Ohio State, where he quickly worked his way up in one season after starting as a recruiting staff analyst. He brings coaching experience at Kent State, Valpo, and Saint Joseph's (D-II - IN) with him to the role.
  9. Commanders. Anyway, is the former Golden State guy (Bob Myers) still running this search?? May end up with Dan Quinn which could be good break for the Cowboys. 😋
  10. Appreciate the effort DH. Just really hard to see OT (Joe Alt) getting picked at #2 in this draft -- but in your Mock Draft that's your prerogative
  11. Missouri hires Corey Batoon away from South Alabama to be its defensive coordinator January 27, 2024 https://apnews.com/article/missouri-tigers-sec-c848297fbfcf63f2bfcfe019cefef000 ---------------------------------------------- Brian Early (DL) reportedly leaving Houston for Missouri DOUG SAMUELS 29 MINUTES AGO Posted this Corey Batoon compensation article in coaches salaries thread https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/other/corey-batoon-triples-salary-with-move-from-south-alabama-to-missouri/ar-BB1hvibf

  13. Kansas City Jayhawks... 😋 Kansas to play home games in Kansas City this fall. ZACH BARNETT 21 HOURS AGO For 2024, they'll be the Kansas City Jayhawks. $300 million in renovations to Booth Memorial Stadium will push Kansas out of its home for this coming season, and so on Tuesday the program announced it will play its home games in Kansas City this fall. Non-conference games against Lindenwood and UNLV will be played at Children's Mercy Park, home of Major League Soccer's Sporting Kansas City, and the Jayhawks' four Big 12 games will take place at Arrowhead Stadium. TCU, Houston, Iowa State and Colorado are spared the bus ride down Interstate 70 this fall. Sporting Park is located on the Kansas side of Kansas City, while Arrowhead is on the Missouri side, making KU perhaps the only team in college football history to play home games in a separate state. Sporting Park is a roughly 30-minute drive from Lawrence, while Arrowhead is closer to 50. Having successfully fended off Washington for Lance Leipold's services, KU is looking to build on a 9-4 season with a bowl victory and a No. 23 AP final ranking in 2023.
  14. Corey Batoon triples salary with move from South Alabama to Missouri Batoon is set to make $1 million annually in his new role in the SEC. DOUG SAMUELS 2 HOURS AGO It was a given that Corey Batoon's move from calling the defense at South Alabama to doing the same at Missouri would come with a pay bump, as moves to from the Group of Five to the SEC always do. The pay bump is quite substantial, and it also marks a savings for what Missouri was set to pay Blake Baker as well. Before leaving for the defensive coordinator opportunity at LSU, Baker had just inked a contract extension where he was set to make $2 million annually as Missouri's defensive coordinator. All indications were Mizzou was willing to sweeten that deal considerably to keep Baker alongside Eli Drinkwitz following their special 11-2 campaign to fend off LSU's advances. Ultimately, it was not enough, and Drink's search led him to Batoon at South Alabama. According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Batoon will earn $1 million per year as part of his three-year deal that he recently signed. Batoon made $292,000 annually at South Alabama, USA Today's assistant coach salary database shares, meaning his new salary is over triple what he was previously making. The $1 million figure is a bargain by SEC standards, as 26 coaches in the league made at least that last fall. His deal states that he would not owe a buyout if he were to leave for a head coaching job, an NFL assistant job, or if Eli Drinkwitz were no longer leading the Tigers. If fired without cause, Missouri would owe Batoon the remainder of his unpaid salary through the remainder of his deal, meaning his $3 million of total earnings is essentially guaranteed. Batoon brings previous SEC experience to his new role, as he spent a few seasons at Ole Miss as special teams coordinator, and also has stops at Liberty and FAU in addition to his defensive coordinator stop at Hawaii from 2018-19.
  15. Interesting Staff move at Arizona... Sources: Arizona making significant hire, landing Gaizka Crowley as program's new G.M. Crowley has previous ties out West from running UNLV personnel, also was a top XOS director JOHN BRICE 4 HOURS AGO Just a few years ago, Brent Brennan nearly was Arizona's choice for head coach. Now that Brennan is atop the Wildcats program, he's working to ensure Arizona keeps momentum and puts key pieces in place for future success -- on and off the field. To that end, multiple sources tell FootballScoop that Brennan is hiring away Gaizka Crowley from Lance Taylor's Western Michigan program to become Arizona's general manager. For Crowley, it's an imminent return West after his key work helped overhaul the roster at UNLV before spending the past year helping Taylor set the foundation of his WMU program. A Florida State graduate with prep coaching experience, Crowley continues to rise rather rapidly through the ranks of collegiate personnel -- in large part because of his excellent background at XOS Digital -- now known as Catapult. It was with the company now ubiquitous in college football for its video platform that allows in-depth analysis and scouting that Crowley's eye for evaluating personnel began to shine and also when he garnered the attention of college coaches. Following his time at XOS, Crowley was quickly hired by Southern Illinois to run its personnel department, excelled there to land the UNLV job and then was a key early hire for Taylor as the former Alabama player and top ex-Notre Dame and Louisville assistant filled out his inaugural head coaching staff. Crowley, now, is returning West for his first opportunity to help guide a Power 5 personnel department.
  16. Entertaining post @DixonHur
  17. Hope so... Just saw this BREAKING: Ben Johnson Says 'No' to Commanders, Remains with Lions "With Johnson out of the mix, Baltimore Ravens coaches Mike Macdonald and Anthony Weaver, as well as Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn remain candidates for the job. The team could also still hire Houston Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik or promote offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, though those options aren't as likely."
