  1. It’s such a complex story and super difficult to tell through film. In a perfect world HBO would give DV or someone as talented all the budget money they need to make it a series. Thats really the only way to properly tell the whole story.
  2. Yeah that could work. DV has done a good job with his version thus far so I’m just going to trust him and hopefully it lands.
  3. I just started the prophet section of the book, so I totally understand. I haven’t got to your other bullet points, but she’s still a different character from where I’m at. I can see why he didn’t have her support Paul there at the end because it would have confused the audience at that point. I bet in Messiah, we see her come around and support Paul, which would be more true to her character in the book.
  4. Here’s an explanation from himself. I don’t necessarily get the guy tweeting tho. Everyone I’ve talked to understood the message quite clearly from the movies pov.
  5. He has horrible discipline at the plate, which you don’t need a stat to see. Theres a difference between being aggressive and having horrible plate discipline. But I’ll use stats from last season and I won’t bother to compare it to the ‘21 season when he was a true freshman. Last year he hit .222 in conference play with 12 RBI’s and an OPS of .622. Overall he had an avg of .284 with 37 RBI’s and an OPS .794. That means the majority of his damage came against non-conference opponents, which were very meh outside of the very beginning, and the postseason. He didn’t do nothing in Arlington, but did pretty good in the postseason. If you want to hang your hat on five postseason games at the end of the season, then go ahead. Hell Daly had one of his best stretches in those five games as well. But right now I’m looking at a guy with a .209 avg with 11 RBI’s and an OPS of .655. My whole deal with Kennedy is that I believe he should get more run to see if there’s a sizable difference between him and Jack. Coming in later in the ball game isn’t going to do that. If he proves that there isn’t much difference at all, then platoon them with method of whoever’s hot.
  6. Ultimately going to agree to disagree here. Like Hobbes has already said, reasonable level isn’t what I’d describe O’Dowd as. Heck, I hope your last little paragraph isn’t true because O’Dowd would more than likely not fit Pierce’s definition of a capable hitter. I’m looking at O’Dowd holistically and not what he’s done against poor pitching the last couple of weekends. Again he’s had some nice, timely AB’s but then he’s also looked like a complete buffoon at the plate. Guessing will only get you so far and it never adds up to consistency. I’m not necessarily saying we have to drop him for the rest of season. I just would like to see a young kid with potential get a handful of games in a row against a soft part of the schedule to see what he’s got. Already we’ve seen Dee gives us more range, albeit with some freshmen wtf moments but that’s to expected and with more reps we could see that issue fade. At the plate it’s still up in the air imo. Dee has shown competitiveness at the plate and maybe that translates into more hits. I’d like to find out. If not then you know exactly what O’Dowd brings and Pierce can roll with the engagement/rotating between the two.
  7. In the book when Stilgar tells Jamis’s “wife” that Paul will now look after her and decide what relationship they will have, her immediate reaction to Paul is he’s basically boy. And Stilgar is like yeah but he kicked Jamis’s ass tho so deal with it.
  8. The thing with Dee is he has a ton of potential and could be a good player for us later in the year but the only way that can happen is if he gets plenty of reps. We know what O’Dowd brings to the table. Pedestrian defense and a very hot or cold bat. I mean at times it’s not even game to game but rather AB to AB. He could pull a double down the line and next AB look completely lost against the same pitcher.
  9. Are Greg and Kieth going to the SEC with us for home games?
  10. O’Dowd is too decisive, swinging at crap it rolling over. Then Kennedy, too indecisive and not swinging at strikes. Still think Dee should be playing more and hopefully he becomes more relaxed/aggressive.
  11. O’Dowd is going to do the bare minimum to stay in the lineup and Pierce will oblige. He looks ok against meh pitching and his defense is just bad.
  12. I get all of that. What palps was doing to the Jedi under their nose is well documented and understood. But if a group of Jedi are investigating an evil that is happening, and the said evil labels themselves as sith, then I would assume the Jedi council would dig deeper on whether they really are sith or just a bunch dark user types not affiliated with the sith or rule of 2. Papls was pretty damn good at being incognito with his sith ways towards the Jedi and the Jedi being full of themselves was recipe for disaster. The Jedi needed to look inward to find the root problem. This is out in the open compared to what Sideous was doing. If this evil turns out to be operating like the inquisitors were under Sideous/Vader then it’s going to make what transpired on the council in the prequels more complex, especially Yoda being alive for all of it. After I made my initial post, I did see Jodie Turner-Smith is playing “Mother Aniseya”, a leader of witches. So that could be the dark side of things we’re dealing with a la nightsisters.
  13. The trailer looks great and I’m excited to watch the series! But I’m a little confused. In episode 1 we learn that the sith have been extinct for a thousand years or more. I don’t think that is something they’re going to retcon or else there will be a big backlash. So are these just dark side users who have nothing to do with the sith? Or possibly none of the Jedi depicted in the trailer survive and in return the Jedi council doesn’t find out? I think there’s some interesting routes they take with this, I just hope they don’t muddy the water with what was said in episode 1.
  14. Has Powell already tied the other catchers for outs on throw downs?
  15. Easier said than done. No way lsu comes close to having those things without Marucci in their back pocket. Texas can do it but it will take a massive commitment from big money donors.
  16. Watched CWS favorite Tennessee last year have the hair cuts, loud mouths, celebration pieces and flipping opponents off rounding the bases, and they end up getting beat by Notre Dame in the supers at home. You can’t be all flash like most kids want to these days. There needs to be culture of what it takes to win, and a part of that is discipline. LSU has a pretty good balance right now imo.
  17. I would be kinda disappointed if he’s the hire. People bitch about Pierce being the 5th choice but Saarloos should also be out 3rd or 4th choice if we want the best guy.
  18. You would think any decent coach from the pac12 would be easy to poach.
  19. Everyone in the lineup hitting above .300 outside of Brown(.226) and O’Dowd(.180). Brown will eventually get his but we know what O’Dowd is at this point. Seems obvious during this home stretch we should let Dee get more playing time.
  20. I am about halfway through the first book and while it is a lot to take in, the story is incredible. If it wasn’t for this Denis, I probably wouldn’t have ever thought about reading the books so I thank him for that. So far I can see why he made the decisions to change some stuff but I think as whole he’s kept the theme and message at the forefront. That could change as I get deeper in the book tho.
  21. It’s just so painfully obvious at this point with O’Dowd.
  22. I haven’t seen anything.
  23. SIAP but Blake from On Texas Football reported yesterday that Miller is not coming back. On who could possibly fill the position.
