  1. Wisconsin Supreme Court race and Kansas ballot initiative show the power and staying power of dobbs.
  2. 2 out of 3. The royals looked dead in the water the first 70% of this series, but when we switched to our bullpen in game 2 they started having pretty good at bats. It looks like that carried over to game 3. Hopefully we can take 2 or maybe sweep them next week tho.
  3. Astros probably win 2 out of 3 is my best guess.
  4. I can admit in 2018 I wanted her to run again because I knew she would dominate and keep the seat, but I also thought she would step down before the end of her term if her health went south. at the time in 2018 elections, we had Trump for president and a gop house / senate so I was just desperate to get as much power back as we could. she’s a massive liability now. We might lose the senate in 2024 and not get it back for awhile due to how rigged the senate map is in favor of the republicans. We can’t leave a single judge nomination to chance in case we lose the 2024 election. Fill them all and get some older dem judges to retire so we can replace them too. I’d love to see Biden have more judge appointments then Trump after one term.
  5. That election had unusual circumstances that will probably never be replicated. People voted while they were locked down and nothing else was going on at the time to distract them. The election was the only game in town, the country really. I don’t think the turnout will ever be that high because during normal times we have so many different things going on in our daily lives to distract people from voting. people weren’t really going to work. Kids weren’t really going to school. No extra curriculars. Minimal sports. No new movies or shows.
  6. Just want to wrap up the win and get out of there asap with no injuries.
  7. Going to first stars game in person tomorrow. Any suggestions on what I should do for parking?
  8. https://www.politico.com/news/2023/04/12/tennessee-democrats-justin-jones-pearson-00091631 this article has come out recently. I’d like to believe it, but I just can’t. I wish the dems were competitive in more states. We need a bigger map for house and senate seats.
  9. If Desantis or Trump is all the GOP can come up with, I’m not too worried about losing.
  10. Is 5% really that good with the OPEC cuts and bank collapse probably not factored in yet?
  11. Conservatives are obsessed with the “ good guy with a gun theory”, but when you break it down, how many of these catastrophic events have ended with a good guy ( civilian and not cop or former cop or undercover cop) actually saving the day? when these events happen, the good guys with a gun freeze up and hide like pussies, otherwise we would hear about them stepping in more often. It’s not the solution to our problem. It’s just another way for the GOP to make it look like their doing something without actually doing anything at all.
  12. Hopefully a Vegas player? We have our fair share.
  13. I think a lot of it is demographics / overpopulation. The baby boomers and millennials are both massive generations. Boomers have been retiring en masse for awhile now, but these people are still around buying cars and houses. Millennials got off to a slow start in life compared to earlier generations due to the Great Recession. Many of them are marrying later and looking for housing later. both these generations are fighting over a limited supply of cars and housing. We need more to go around, but we just don’t make as much housing and cars as we did years ago.
  14. The last paragraph of the last article linked brought a huge smile to my face. Winning Wisconsin and Michigan always feels so damn good because I know winning Texas is off the table and it’s the next best thing for dems.
  15. Referring to the Ben bernanke “sugar” he threw onto the market. Otherwise known as quantitative easing. Yes it was artificially propping things up.
  16. Walker barely won elections in Wisconsin by 1% or less. He ruled with an iron fist and governed like he had a mandate / win by 20+ points. The guy also is a huge proponent of extreme gerrymandering and undermining democracy at every turn. when he finally did lose, he teamed up with the legislature to neuter the governors office of all powers so that Evers wouldn’t be able to do anything. This was after he wielded the power of the governor as much as possible and as hard as possible for over 10+ years. if I was on the street and saw him get jumped, I would look the other way, not call 911, and let the attackers do what they want with him. The guy is a total scum bag. He’s almost as bad as Dan Patrick.
  17. The stock market is bad. Inflation is bad. Gas prices just went up. Grocery prices have been really freaking high. There are cracks and bad things to point at, but the good thing is pretty much everyone has a job and the people losing jobs are still finding new ones faster than their unemployment is running out.
  18. Don’t link tweets from pond scum Walker please. Dude is a fucking asshat
  19. We shouldn’t freak out about it yet. I think they will play hardball later this year if they have too.
  20. https://www.politico.com/news/2023/04/06/white-house-pulls-punches-over-gop-judicial-nomination-blockade-00090824 not sure what thread to put this in, but repubs are blocking our judges. We have about 60 vacancies and 40 of them in red states. I get that Biden and company probably don’t want to rock the boat right now, but we can’t let any vacancies make it to the 2024 election. Trump and McConnell will fill them even if it meant 1000 babies would be thrown off the top of a skyscraper.
