  1. Finkley is not in the portal guys, I think he's working with the staff to see if he actually wants to portal and that's why Sark brought it up in multiple contexts. could be that he's already made up his mind, but it seems like he's a big culture guy and the staff may want him to stay for important things off the field and reward that with some balanced playtime.
  2. He'll play plenty won't he? I thought he was pretty well regarded.
  3. I missed Finkley going into the portal. Seems like kind of a bad move for him?
  4. maybe if the season was over and there wasn't a Playoff game.
  5. yeah, she gone.
  6. Who wants to tell him?
  7. I'm not sure, no one seems to know what was going on as of Friday when I was looking for one. Its 5k to get a 20x20, 3 coolers and their TV. I don't think any of the smaller packages make much sense. With the sparse population 150 people could use that easily. That's 33 a head just for the spot, can be BYOB and picnic style bring your own food. The economics just don't make sense if you are being cheap. This isn't the cheap part of the tailgate its ultra premium. Scholz always does their thing and all the other tailgates over on the south side are just whatever. I'm not sure if best damn tailgate is doing anything and horn balls is 110+ in a terrible location.
  8. Georgia was $40 and should have probably been $60-$75, I think everyone that came would have paid that increased price. I think you covered off all the points that are perplexing here great. Next season is a long way away and I think this has picked up enough steam for people to all pitch in and organize in a way that makes this sustainable and doable.
  9. Its all corporate bullshit. None of these companies care they are just paying to have a sterile tailgate and do some marketing. Its what sets ours apart. We are literally 40 steps away from the biggest consistent pregame show in college football in longhorn city limits, I don't think your vantage point of "far from my parking so I don't go" is really a good example of what the general fan is doing pre-game. Modelo Tallboys on bevo blvd are literally $14 a fucking brisket sandwhich at LCL is $15. I don't wanna hear about the money and location excuse. We are doing something super cost effective for everyone involved. The issue is there isn't a big amount of hype around this game. The buzz simply is not there, everyone in the game week thread is talking about the season and all kinds of other shit and not even Clemson.
  10. Plus apres ski which is like tailgate and costs even more.
  11. You realize the dirt the tent is on is what the majority of the fee is for right? We could dramatically reduce the cost of the tailgate and just move it far as fuck and completely detached from campus and LCL and Bevo Blvd. It would also immediately cease to drive any kind of demand. Michigan we literally roasted a hog at gameday. We were the premier tailgate in the entirety of Ann Arbor. That's a huge part of why people come though, it's equal parts food, location and that we are actually a football centric tailgate about talking ball or nerding out about teams etc. Its entirely a money thing - if we had a budget we could maximize it. Right now I'm basically just a rich guy with a tailgate and we recoup a bit here and there. It's my tailgate, and I very much want it to be the communities tailgate. It's expensive. It's time consuming. It's hard. People just wanna show up and have a good time they don't wanna have to worry about shit etc.
  12. Stadium was full for Colorado state too. No one was out partying though. ULM was a bit of buzz cuz of arch and still meh. UTSA always shows out and it was OK. Kentucky people barely bothered to come before. Georgia was insane. Everyone came early and all day. This is the FIRST playoff game at DKR. Face value of tickets is more than regular season tickets. It's an ultra premium event. Nothing should be just a normal tailgate with a few beers and a hot dog. It should be absolutely massive - it's the first time Texas has ever played Clemson. It's at home. It's for the new CFP. There has never been a higher stakes game played in DKR, ever. It's completely absurd to me that anyone even gives a shit about $100.
  13. Soon to be out starting nickel.
  14. I think anything else would be criminal unless Quinn blows everyone out and is in victory for the next 4 games.
  15. I don't think price is was the issue. I honestly think a lot of people are barely gonna get away with going to the game. Family commitments are real around this time of year and I feel like many people will be driving/flying in the day of because last minute hotels in austin around the holidays are also fucking impossible. Everything was working against this game instead of it being really hyped up and well organized everything even from the AD side of things is a complete clusterfuck of epic proportions.
  16. They can't stop us from doing this. Lol
  17. What?
  18. This is actually so god damned funny.
  19. so 9 people + me stepped up to commit 2k per share for this. We had a 20k budget and breakeven was 200 people at 100 each. Something we've done a bunch of times before and isn't really that crazy especially for a premium post season matchup between 2 teams that have never played and it's a crazy game. I don't feel comfortable with 7 tickets sold spending for a party to feed 200, as you have to make the buys and commit a week in advance then spend a week hoping or taking "whatever" people wanna pay to make up whatever cost we can. "but just drop the price, $100 is steep around Christmas" First off, it's a fucking CFP game tailgate with PRIME RIB AND UNLIMITED OPEN BAR, it's good value and we aren't making money on it. Second off, if we dropped the price to 50 or even 60 we would need to sell 400 tickets or scale the tailgate way down and at the point of scaling the tailgate down you still keep the same $35ish per head in just the spot/tent/coolers/whatever. That leaves 15 bucks per person for food and booze. That's fucking impossible. and it would still require a ton of work and stress on my part to make it happen.
  20. yep, tailgate canceled. I'm not gonna stress for the next week about this.
  21. I am leaning strongly towards canceling the tailgate. We have sold 7 tickets and I don't want the stress + bow that we have investors I don't feel it's appropriate to just donk off a bunch of money. I'm looking for a tailgate to partner with and send folks to, if you are part of one and can host 40-50 extra people let me know.
  22. I think this is what people are missing, it's not about saying Quinn isn't a good player or made a bad throw or decision. Its the overall negative sentiment of quinn the person not quinn the player that starts to blur the lines of what's acceptable for pages and pages of it. There's a difference in the Gandalfish posts which are clearly a meme and just braindead shit talking with no context.
  23. This thread has been an abortion since the Georgia game this year. Quinn got shit on and dunked on hard, including by me, after a game where he shit down his leg and fucking imploded mentally. We are obviously beyond that, but the lingering feelings from that game are persistent in the posts from the same people. I don't really know how to get this thread to be productive of back on track. It isn't "hornsfans" all over again to not have a bunch of threads exclusively shitting on and talking shit about a player. I'm not sitting here saying you can't criticize quinn, but I did step in and say you can't just come in over the top and just talk shit about quinn outside of football criticisms, which was happening a lot and not really what we want to be about or have a huge thread on. I'm not asking for sunshine pumper or blind loyalty posts, but at some point you have to turn the temperature down on the conversation. I think it's universally accepted that no one wants quinn go come back for his 5th year season at Texas. A lot of that has to do with the future of Arch Manning and the implications of him leaving if quinn returns. Right now Quinn and the rest of the team are preparing to go win 4 games in a row against the ACC Champion, the Big XII champion and the B1G champ or a Tennessee team that is pretty good. Then a rematch against the SEC champ or ND or another team who has beaten other very good teams. Nothing about this season matters. Playoffs everyone is 0-0 and it's win or go home. So far quinn is 0-1 in the post season, let's all hope it's 4-1 when it's all said and done for him this year.
  24. I guess I missed the all stars on dukes offense that are getting drafted or transferring
