  1. Dan and Jake's friendship (actually it was TC who struck up the initial friendship with the 2 of them) with Matt Bruenig and Philip Kingston really turned out to be a big factor in their corner. And I can't help but think that Dan didn't already start piecing this together long before he made the decision to quit. I don't know whether it's due to being from the Midwest or what, but Dan is fairly well studied in labor issues and has exhibited a keen interest on the subject throughout his time at the Ticket. For a year or so prior to quitting he spearheaded a number of segments specifically targeting non-competes and issues surrounding the subject. He'd routinely reference Bruenig on the topic and give thinly veiled comments that were obviously aimed at Cumulus. Dan's much sharper than he let's on and despite his demuring to the contrary, he probably discussed a number of these issues with Bruenig long before they quit. In fact, I specifically remember Dan bringing up the exact NRLB rule that was ultimately the basis for Dan and Jake's complaint with the NRLB against Cumulus in a segment on The Hang Zone.
  2. It's interesting to go back through this thread and look at the wide swath of land that existed between the early prognostications about how Dan and Jake were going to get taken to the woodshed and what eventually happened. Well, I guess they did get taken to the woodshed, but not in the manner that people were predicting.
  3. Lol!! Exactly, like we're about to suit up.
  4. Which conference tourney auto qualifiers spoiled it for 4 teams. I know Oregon wouldn't have made without winning their tourney. What other teams knocked teams out?
  5. Uh, no it doesn't. We're literally in the top 20 out of 362 teams in offensive efficiency.
  6. Pretty sure we played him the previous 2 years. Playing Barnes this year will make 3 years on a row that we've played him.
  7. I'm really not sure what to do about this bullshit.
  8. They created the section for students behind the baskets during the 00s, prior to that all student seating was in the rafters. As an avid college basketball fan who arrived on campus in the mid 90s that was extremely disappointing to discover I wouldn't be seated close to the action and had no ability to really affect the game.
  9. TCU started off the conference by absolutely getting jobbed at the Phog. The refs found a way to call an egregious to fragrant foul on a fun of the mill defensive rebound right as TCU was about to lock up a really good road win.
  10. Shockingly we've been in the top 30 ADjO in 5 of our last 6 seasons.
  11. Back to back a seasons with a top 20 AdjO. As much as this fanbase has complained about this program's offense over the last 20+ years you'd think this achievement would be notable.
  12. So I take it state championship games are no longer onb Bally's/Fox sports southwest.
  13. I was shocked to find out TAPPS already employs the shot clock.
  14. Miles just announced that the principals of both Carnegie Vanguard High School and HSPVA are going to be placed on the to be fired list. Oh by the way Carnegie Vanguard High School is currently ranked as the 5th best public high school in the state and #35 Nationally according the the US News & World Report rankings.
  15. Did DJ quit the Hardline?
  16. This is about as shocking a time as I've ever seen at the combine. Going into the combine I would've been pleasantly surprised with a time in the 4.5s. This makes me wonder whether he had some sort of ailment during the season. He got fetched from behind every time he got into the open field.
  17. Go read any bio on Clarence Thomas and you see this exact thread play out. Of course his experiences turned him into a troll, but much of what you noted here, and the resulting bitterness fomented his ideology.
  18. I disagree a bit. We're limited by our lack of athleticism and physicality in the backcourt( and wings). Hunter has the necessary athleticism, but he's small and tends to spaz out too frequently to be depended on. Abmas just isn't athletic enough to consistently get good shots off against good defenses. I expected more from Abmas coming into the season given his pedigree, but after watching him play it's obvious why he wasn't considered a high major player coming out of high school. The Big 12 is simply the wrong league for him to play in. There are too many dominant and physically imposing wings/guards in this league for him to play at his optimal level. Ideally you'd love to let Abmas play off the ball and run him off screens all night, but you're putting yourself in jeopardy by asking Hunter to handle the ball that much, so it's a bit of a catch-22.
  19. Jerry Palm sucks at his job.
  20. Same fucking play back to back. Kansas gets the call and we dont.
  21. Abmas got fouled egregiously on the midrange jump shot the next time back down the court.
  22. The metroplex is so dominant in Texas High School it's not even funny. Wylie East just beat Duncanville last night.
  23. It's so fucking stupid to give the entire playoff to a single entity.
  24. Such a weird question. What race is this not true for?
  25. I was under the impression that a lot of the NIL stuff for basketball players is through other means outside of school collectives and stuff like that. Like for instance someone like Tre Johnson may get a significant deal through a money manager due to the salary potential he could have down the road in the NBA. That's why playing in a city like Austin vs podunk college towns tends to be a better play for basketball players. Even a guy like Dillon Mitchell forecast to be a 7 figure player overseas so even if you're not a surefire NBA player there still significant potential for entities like the above.
