  1. It will be good to take another look 3 weeks from now at which teams fall within those constraints. Most teams have only played about 4 or 5 conference games.
  2. I think the gutting has to due with financial issues. According to the Buf Elliot and some of thr guys on the Saturday's Down Podcast the stuff coming out about how much of an NIL discount having Saban as their coach got Bama is shocking. And as a result their NIL budget is severely lacking now that they have to operate on equal terms with everyone else.
  3. As far as I'm concerned, that's pretty much modus operandi for any public school regardless of the quality of the district . When we started looking into the schools around the area I immediately started looking into GT testing and prepping my oldest (4 yrs old at the time) for it. I figured it would be easier to test into GT the earlier he did it and I was correct in my assumption. My son got in which wasn't surprising for him but that early exposure to testing (especially with the abstract nature of GT tests at younger ages) was definitely critical for my daughter who also qualified for GT when she was 4. I believe HISD recently changed their protocol for GT testing and don't allow for it in preK anymore, but I could be wrong.
  4. I just did a tour of Frank Black Middle school last November for my 5th grader and I must have gotten a complete snow job if what you say is true. The art teacher showed us some of the projects the kids were working on to present at the rodeo and they were extremely impressive. He even mentioned one of the kids in the previous year sold his art work for 10s of thousands of dollars there. Prior to this year I heard so many great things about Frank Black that it was a no brainer to send my kids there, but after all of the horror stories about uninterested teachers and fighting, I've decided to sit down and fill out the magnet application today. I guess Hogg, Lanier, and/or TH Rogers will move Frank Black down the list.
  5. Brock guards interior guys though. Weaver can't do that.
  6. Michigan will potentially have 20 guys drafted in the coming draft.
  7. I'm hopeful that Ewers will show more of what we saw against Oklahoma St in terms of his ability to get to his 2nd and 3rd reads more quickly. Also an understated fact about the switch from the Big 12 to the SEC is the hubris that comes with DCs in the SEC leads to fewer complicated defensive schemes and tactics. They're so confident in their personnel that they tend to play simpler schemes. Ewers will see a lot more man to man and simple coverages next year compared to what he's seen in the Big 12. Outside of maybe Arkansas and Vandy that 3 safety flyover defense is a thing of the past. SEC coaches have caught up with the rest of the college football on the offensive side of the ball, but theyre still old school NFL in terms of their mentality and willingness to innovate on the defensive side, of the field.
  8. we had a shitload of tipped balls on the RPO looks. I feel like there were at least 5 of them right off the bat. That really messed with his start.
  9. Honestly, our safeties weren't really that bad yesterday which was surprising. Washington didnt attack them like we assumed they would. They went after our corners with total abandon though.
  10. It would've taken huge balls but I almost thought we were going to go with a QB draw right there. The LBs dropped back and it was available for the taking.
  11. If we could only win one of the 2 mentioned, I'd rather beat Georgia than Michigan. Oh, how great it would be to go undefeated in the mighty SEC in our first season.
  12. Penix has the lowest sack% in college football despite being pressured at a relatively high level. Outside of deep ball accuracy, sack avoidance is his best asset.
  13. Outside of a couple of plays, last night's performance by our secondary was more of a product of Penix Jr's pinpoint accuracy and Washington's WR's ability to make contested catches than egregiously poor secondary play. Their receivers simply refuse to drop anything and on top of that they make plays for their QB on the rare occasion he's off target. I still can't believe we still had a chance to completely burglarize last night's game, because in all honesty, given the mistakes we made in terms of penalties, turnovers and simply not having the ball, we were extremely lucky to have a chance to win with the last play. Speaking of, has Quinn Ewers ever really thrown a fast ball. I can't remember him throwing a ball that wasn't of the feathery variety. If he throws that last pass on more of a line there's a good chance we come away with the win.
  14. Everybody is blaming it on Sarkisian but Ewers is the one who decides who to throw to. Other than the WTF call to Jaden the other passes were decisions by Ewers. He didn't have to throw those fade routes. Especially with as poorly timed as they were.
  15. 4 chances from the 15 and we didn't throw one catchable into the end zone. Great season, man what could've been.
  16. Okay I was wondering how the tiebreaker broke down. I wasn't sure whether we still needed the Eagles to lose to the Giants as well.
  17. LOL, this is actually a good point. Belichick would be much more sophisticated in going about this sort of gamesmanship.
  18. Try to follow along here. My only point of contention with @Huckleberry is whether or not Campbell was being dumb in trying to confuse the Cowboys by sending multiple OLs to the ref despite knowing that the ref will tell the other team who the extra eligible player is. Huckleberry thinks it's a pointless endeavor. My only claim is that Campbell probably has a better feel for what is and isn't pointless to do in fooling the other team. Rex Ryan confirms that this is just the sort of thing done for that expressed purpose of potentially confusing the other team. All it takes is 1 of the 11 defenders to fuck up. As far as the ref clearly stating 70 and thus negating the need for the Cowboys to even worry about 68, I agree.
  19. Dude Rex Ryan in the clip posted earlier mentions that it's routine to send multiple OL over to the ref for the explicit purpose of confusing the other team.
  20. According to Rex Ryan coaches routinely have multiple Olinemen go to the referee when reporting eligibility for the explicit purpose of confusing the other team. It's just that as fans we don't typically pay attention to details like this. Regardless, like I sad before, the tripping penalty was a 30 yard penalty and none of this 2pt conversion stuff is even consequential had the refs not totally botched it.

  22. Your argument is that Campbell is daft and has no feel for the NFL and the routine behavior of the players who make up the league. And that his endeavor to potentially cause confusion or trick 1 player out of the 11 on defense was futile because the refs are going to tell them who is eligible anyway. You of course know better than a man who has spent the last 20+ years in the profession. Why does anyone attempt to cause confusion ever? What's up with all this new age pre-snap motion? I mean the players all know their assignments. Why attempt to lull players into routine plays and then run a counter to that play? I mean the players are incapable of being tricked.
  23. I guess the argument is that 70 being declared eligible and then lining up as a guard and covered up makes it an illegal formation, but as far as the WR next to 68 he isn't covering up 68. Im not clear on the rules though. so 70 being declared as elgibile and then lining up as a guard may not mean anything. Here's a shot of the WR next to 68 though: https://x.com/SportsSturm/status/1741333825014087755?s=20
  24. Yeah it's totally surprising that defensive players pay much more attention to the personnel packages the opposing offenses send onto the field than the 45 different times over the course of a game that the refs tell them about player eligibility. You're being extraordinarily obtuse here. Go watch the video the ref is only talking to at most 3 or 4 players when he goes to them the other 7 or 8 players arent even paying attention.
