agree, they are well past their peak.  Like a 40 year old porn star who is making the rounds at the Adult Megaplex and promises to fuck one of the 6 dudes who show up for an autograph

    that's weirdly specific, sir

Stanford doesnt have any fans.  Look at their crowds in normal times.  They struggle to get 30k unless its SC, Cal or ND...and then 80% of the crowd is the road team

the lord of the rings pippin GIF

Most of their fans are fans of the mascot rather than the football and arrive fairly late

Congrats to every fucking dipshit that gave Carl enough rep to be impervious to a crowdsourcing. I hope you all die of herpes, inflicted from his fat pigs he trumpeted as thots.

I'm of the opinion that we can still crowd source his sorry ass

One of his fucking captains fucked up a coin flip, the same as one of Mack's did. This was put to bed upthread. He did recruit the QB position and Shane Buechele ended up pretty fucking good. STs weren't that much better under Herman -- it wasn't Strong's fault that his long snapper got the yips that one game. On Watson we can agree.

why don't you focus on Chuckles at USF; what forces were against him there taking them from an 11 win season to the Strong Ceiling Equilibrium of 4 a win season?

Just FYI, now that I’m plugged into the program I too am happy to answer any questions anyone has. Heard some pretty interesting stuff about the battle for backup long snapper.

I, for one, would like to know who is the best friend of young Tunmise, now that he has moved on from your son.

Any truth to the camar Wheaton is off limits out of respect for saban? Bama losing their OC and rb coach had to of given him at least a slight big of hesitation. Sorry if this was already confirmed on here.

He's not bitching about free information.  It's more about posting in the appropriate forum/thread.  This thread might as well be titled, "so, what's on your mind right now?".   I'm not complaining - most of y'all are having good ol' fun wading through a shallow pool of meaningless shit - so, have at it.  And, this pool of meaningless shit could be organized into smaller puddles of shit, but for whatever reason, the Surly posting guidelines have completely been ignored for these coaching search threads.

And once again, I'm not complaining.  Just pointing out a double-standard, if such a thing can exist on topical discussion.

do me a favor, just humor me here-  give me your list of the best football players, in order, among Sam, Redding, Rogers, Blaylock, DT, and the rest of the 2005 Texas team. just give me that much of an earnest response to the words that i actually said. then we can continue this discussion seriously, and without letting emotion or fondness or recency bias get in the way of objectivity.

just to reiterate- this is not based on stats, this is just "how good of a football player was he." because it's just this simple-if you're going to continue with these bombastic replies to my posts, acting as if what i'm saying is just completely out of bounds, and continuing to allege that I hate Sam for simply being objective about him as a player, then the least you could do is, you know, attempt to back up what you've said while disproving what i've said. cheers.

I've never said he's better than anyone on the 05 championship team; that is an argument you are having with someone else.

All I've ever said is that Sam is not the reason this team is losing and I place that at the feet of one Fuckface Herman.  The guy that is scoring a lot of touchdowns and having very few turnovers is not losing you games.  That is all I've been saying.  Apologies if this is not on or at least near the topic of the thread.  No hyperbole.

I think he won the presser more convincingly than what he did to Ohio State’s defense.

Aside from honoring all of the sacred gods of an introductory presser at Texas (a plea to Texas HS football coaches, invoking DKR, repeatedly mentioning “the great state of Texas”) I like that Sark conveyed a level of low key self-assurance and confidence in the face of the whirlwind of tasks in front of him. He repeatedly mentioned authenticity and the importance of building genuine relationships and if he was peddling BS, I currently own several shares in that stock. Buy and hold.

But I don’t think he was peddling BS. I think he’s that guy.

There was a lot of gold to mine, but three statements hit me like I’d just taken a pull on pure oxygen after being trapped in a collapsed mineshaft:

    1. “Our goal is to outcoach and outprepare our opponent every week.”

I’ve been waiting for Texas to find a coach who can leverage our natural advantages and vast resources while still maintaining an underdog mentality seeking to exploit the opponent’s scheme and personnel every week and not just “run our stuff.” There’s a dichotomy here between creative game planning and putting too much on the athlete’s plate, but Sark struck that precious balance at Bama and will work to carry it forward here.

    2. “This isn’t a destination day for me.”

When those words hit my ears, clouds parted. A chorus of angelic cherubs began singing. Sunshine bathed a field of puppies frolicking.

I’ve observed before that some athletes much prefer being a football player at Texas rather than playing football at Texas. The same can be said of some coaches. The economics at the top of the profession have simply warped reality. If you’re about the distractions, the petty baubles, or the pretensions, this place can be seductive poison.

The Japanese have an expression that roughly translates to “luxury robs valor.”

All gas no brakes doesn’t suggest complacency. Beyond the rhetoric, we just saw a guy put together THAT game plan last night with THAT execution level while working every other waking hour to take on one of the top football jobs in the country.

This opportunity means a lot to Sarkisian. He doesn’t think it’s all over now and that he’s won with this hire and this contract. I believe I saw a guy who thinks the real journey just started. Who wants to complete the Hollywood story of total redemption.

    3. “The Eyes of Texas is our school song. We will sing it proudly.”

He went on to say that he welcomed discussion and input on the matter and that it was important to explain the broader issues, but he was also unambiguous.

I’m not interested in discussing the specific politics. Let’s avoid that flaming garbage dumpster. But understand that this issue was a wedge. Sometimes a very cynical one. You either confront it head on or cede authority in the program to other actors within and without who have little interest in the program’s success. It festered due to a lack of leadership and a lack of authentic relationships with the players.

Sarkisian is not ceding his authority.

    **

Time to go hire a staff, land some recruits, and start getting this thing right. Let’s do this.
