Sigh. Looks like Sark is official if our main Twitter account is putting it out there.

have you explained all your shitty takes in this thread or are you going to open up a new one to mea culpa?

If Urban was the only thing that was going to make you turds happy then you were destined to be disappointed in the actual reality of our next hire.

this is true, but the drip off from Urban to Sark is not the equivalent to stepping off a curb

this is more like accidentally falling off a 60 foot cliff at the 3:00 am and it's pitch dark (while drunk) and you're happy you hit water when you reach the bottom

Correct. Hicks said that too. Basically said Mack ruined it. And somehow our BoR, AD, President and boosters all stood by and let him do it, which makes no sense to me.

well, if you think Mack, the individual, ruined it then that is where you are getting it wrong

his fucking attorney and bestest friend was Joe Jamail; that's who likely fucked the timing of hiring Saban. You don't think him threatening law suits and pulling his mega donations gave Texas pause?

come to think of it, i'm not sure Sam makes even makes the list of the best 50 UT football players since 2000. if he does he is definitely going to listed in the 40's, no higher. but yeah, he's a total fucking UT football legend. 🙄

did he put up some good numbers? yes, he did. he played 4 years of QB at a school with very little QB/forward passing history in an era where QB numbers are wildly inflated compared to even just 10 years ago. of course he put up numbers. but as a football player, who is he better than? is he better than Cory Redding? what about Shaun Rogers? was he better than Justin Blaylock? David Thomas? shit, how many guys from the 2005 team alone were better than Sam? like 15-20? more?

you people who incessantly STAN this kid like he's a two-time Heisman winner are a huge reason that so many of us are ready for the Sam Ehlinger era to be over. Easily- EASILY the most overrated player in UT history, and it's because of his cult-like following, which consists of a bunch of people who don't know dick about Texas football history. i could not be more ready for him and his followers to be gone. i really really like Sam Ehlinger and I wish him well, but i am beyond over this practice of wildly overhyping him as a player and "Texas football legend".

how many people that you 'really really like' have gotten restraining orders against you?

cunty? god you guys are all in your feelings. "we don't deserve players like Sam!!" (lmao) "because we don't appreciate them." uh, have you read this thread? according to this thread Sam cured covid, beat the Russians to space, freed the slaves and then taught Tebow how to circumcise babies, all while Tom Herman and Sam's teammates tried to sabotage him at every turn.

Herman will ruin Casey by middle of next season

this, he's not going to survive running it 20 times a game

he broke quarterbacks when he was at Ohio State, he broke Buschelle before he left, he's broke and concussed Sam numerous times

Exactly, I feel bad for Thompson after his first bad game. He will be called every name in the book and there still be shouts for the backup

what are you talking about? shouldn't we extrapolate this performance as what to expect from Thompson in every single game going forward in his career?

the saddest part about this entire thread is that if Sam was from Utah or New Jersey or Oregon then there wouldn't be this irrational divide with how he's viewed among the fan base. hell, if he was from fucking Round Rock there wouldn't even be a divide. it's embarrassing to witness.

dude, I pretty much agree with you that he's as good as the quarterbacks you mentioned in post#7641 although Applewhite has such a ragdoll arm I wouldn't put him in that company.

the point is that group of quarterbacks including Sam should have 1 or 2 losses a year with the talent on campus during the Tom Herman regime.

most of the losses we have experienced are caused by Tom Herman, not any one player

Case had a career sub-60% accuracy. Sam surpassed that mark as a sophomore, as a junior, and as a senior. You're grasping at straws.

Case also had a career 5.9 adjusted yards per attempt compared to Sam's 8.2, tied with 1st place Colt

but he missed that one long pass that one time

If Urban was the coach he would have gone for 2 in the second OT and won the game.

I agree except that we wouldn't have been in overtime with that shit ou team; that is a 21 point win with Urban on the sidelines

My bet is that if Sam decides to come back next year it'll mainly be to get one more crack at OU.

Hypothetically, if Urban Meyer had been Sam's coach his entire career, a lot of these chuckle fucks think the results are no different

Appreciate it Nicole...  Not sure how any quizzes or how the Surly background check works ...do I need to post my Texas Exes life member #?...Hope this helps...

I’ve been around long enough to see the good/bad days a couple of times. Spent my days at UT during the Peter The Great years when team wasn’t always on top, but beat OU.  Knocking off Houston in ‘90 was the loudest game I’ve ever been to.   Haven’t made it to nearly enough games in person as not in Austin, but have been to some good ones post grad.  Saw Ricky get pissed after a guy stepped on his hand to run over Baylor in 2nd half the game before breaking the record against EaTmE.   Saw Major knock off Nebraska at home and eventually named my dog after him (both a bit scrappy)...also Pro Major over Simms. ..Enjoyed watching Vince and Cedric (RIP) run all over Nebraska, leading to them ultimately canning Solich. Sat in the end zone at Collie Station to watch Colt win a few games away of what should have been another national championship. (Damn pinched nerve...had one in my hs playing days and totally get where he couldn’t hold a ball...I lost feeling in my arm and thumb for almost a month so I get it)...   I try to forget the bad ones like 91 Cotton Bowl (thank God for Jack Daniels keeping me warm and erasing my memory of the Shock the Nation finale) and the Big 12CS vs Colorado 2001.  2004 helped cleanse the latter, but ready to have Horns stomp them at the Alamo bowl.

Regardless, this is the UM or Bust thread...so sacrificing a Ham and Turkey...might drink a shot for Jobu to make it so.

    🤘

a simple pay stub will be sufficient, sir

The schedule next year is soft. Texas will have a distinct talent advantage over 11 of 12 opponents. As poorly coached as Texas was at times this year, they could've (one could argue should've) won every game. Yes I know they could've lost more too but we're talking ceiling. It isn't outside the realm of possibility that Texas goes 12-1 with a conference title and makes the playoff. Likely? Fuck no, but that's the ceiling. Floor probably looks like 2019. Now, for what it's worth, I'd probably say that with Thompson or Card starting too. I'm not sure Sam definitively elevates this team.

Worth it? Depends on what the "cost" is. If you assume Thompson starts next year otherwise you might assume he leaves. If you assume Card starts next year, Thompson probably leaves anyway, right? So what is the cost there?

The game is just way too different these days to compare a current QB to one before the real evolution of spread offenses. Sam's got a higher completion percentage than VY, similar YPA, and fewer INTs on more than double the attempts. Who's the better QB?

we are in agreement on who is a better quarterback between Vince and Sam

name all the Texas quarterbacks that would have had more success with Tom Herman than Sam has (again not Colt and Vince)

it seems the detractors are assigning losses to the quarterback and I'm assigning them to Tom Herman

Ehlinger has fewer career interceptions, 27, than Applewhite, 28, and Opie had 400 fewer pass attempts

he's obviously not hurting the team with turnovers

he has a ridiculous number of touchdowns

when this team goes 4 or 5 wide, they excel because they have a great quarterback

when they go conservative and bunch things up and try to bludgeon the other team, they bog down; this is not an indictment of your record setting quarterback, it is a fucking indictment of the coach

by and large, when this team loses, they lose by one score

why the fuck are you blaming the record setting quarterback?

he's not accurate enough for you?  Who was more accurate besides Colt and David Ash (in 800 fewer attempts)?

What’s your criteria? Being a battering ram? Sams great at that. Throwing the ball properly and accurately all over the field? He’s probably worse than Case was at that. I mean, he’s head and shoulders above Swoops and Heard overall.

just name a quarterback and we can discuss it.  I'll put up his statistics against anyone not named Colt or Vince.
