  1. Is JQJ supposed to be a QB for UT or play another position? His passing stats are underwhelming. Than again, Tom Herman has a history of coaching dual-threat QBs who were underwhelming passers in H.S. into good college QBs at both tOSU & UH.
  2. So basically: RB1 = Featured star workhorse RB RB2 = Flex RB/All-Purpose RB or Goalline power RB
  3. Can y'all explain what RB1 is? I haven't kept up with day-to-day (or week-to-week) recruiting since the the 2017 class.
  4. Yeah, when I think back to how our defense fell off big time twice this decade after losing a lot of upperclassmen starters to graduation/NFL draft (After the 2011 season under Manny Diaz & after the 2014 season under Vance Bedford/Strong), I think folks aren't being realistic if they aren't expecting a dropoff on defense due to inexperience.
  5. I liked this segment of the article: — Hand talked a lot about identity. Texas is clear about its identity, which makes sense because the identity wasn’t clear until Hand showed up.
  6. I honestly don't know how can y'all still say that when the 2000 recruiting class was pre-internet recruiting. The 2002 recruiting class was the 1st recruiting class covered on the net, so as far as back as I'm willing to go.
  7. I watched some of the 2002 season & maybe a little bit of the 2001 season, but the 2003 season was my first full season watching UT football & college football in general. VY became the fulltime starting QB over Chance Mock after the RRS game basically because VY was a freak talent UT wanted to take advantage of, NOT because he was a better QB than Chance Mock. VY wasn't a good enough passer back in '03, like Chance Mock was or like VY eventually became in '05, to take advantage of our star WRs. So I only remember seeing Roy Williams beasting in that 2003 Cotton Bowl against Nick Saban-coached LSU tigers, the first half of the 2003 season, & the 2003 TTU game at home when Chance Mock came in the game to bail out VY in the 2nd half. That 2003 UT team is probably Greg Davis' Magnum Opus to show how bad an OC he was, NOT the 2010 team. It makes my blood boil to think about how dominant OU was on offense that year, but UT had more talent than OU did on offense & underachieved.
  8. After reading that Smart Football blog post a few months ago, I came to the conclusion being an Air Raid offense just comes down to whether you run an Air Raid passing game or not. What a team does in running game doesn't really matter. All of the Air Raid teams in the Big 12 & throughout CFB do different things in the run game from each other.
  9. 1. TCU has been running an Air Raid passing attack for the past 5 seasons. UT ran the Veer & Shoot in 2016, so you should already be familiar with it. If you're not sure what an Air Raid passing game looks like, here's a good 2012 article from Smart Football blog that breaks down the different Air Raid passing concepts and explains the evolution of the Air Raid from Hal Mumme at UK to Mike Leach at TTU to Holgerson at WVU: http://smartfootball.com/offense/the-air-raid-offense-history-evolution-weirdness-from-mumme-to-leach-to-franklin-to-holgorsen-and-beyond#sthash.4l7nsXLB.dpbs Also here's a good video that SBNation.com's Brett Kollmann put out last month: 2. Just because the recruiting sites list a QB as "Pro-Style" doesn't mean he isn't mobile enough to be involved in the QB run game.
  10. Ian Boyd thinks this Baldwin transfer is huge news:
  11. I had to LOL at this post from the tigerdroppings thread: https://www.tigerdroppings.com/rant/display.aspx?sp=83350650&s=2&p=83340503#83350650 But Tom Herman is locked into Tim Beck's offense that they rename every year, but still appears to be the 2-decade old Read/option with Pro/Spread elements. Texas does indeed have tons of talent, but I'll be very surprised if the Herman/Beck offense can keep up in scoring with LSU's Spread/RPO. Texas has enough talent to win 9 or 10 again in the Big-12 (including non-conference), but will be out-schemed by LSU in September, IMO. And, "Lotsa luck" to to Herman's O against LSU's loaded defense.
  12. I had no idea Jamal Charles was still in the NFL.
  13. Has Herman officially hired David Beaty as analyst/consultant? Beaty's Wikipedia page is written as if it's official: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Beaty_(American_football)
  14. When Michigan hired Harbaugh, my opinion was that tOSU was still going to dominate Michigan just off the strength that Michigan would be running Harbaugh's pro-style offense, while tOSU is running a modern spread offense. And that's exactly how it played out. I can't believe it's taken 4+ years & after Urban Meyer leaves tOSU for Harbaugh to finally start go in this direction.
  15. Sigh....Can Herman just give in & sigh Major Applewhite as OC already. At least Major has shown he's a competent playcaller under Herman at UH and without Herman at UT back in 2013. Beck hasn't even shown he's competent playcaller under Herman at UT.
  16. Is there a link that has an option to cast it to Chromecast/Google Cast?
  17. Sooooo......What's the goto subreddit for LHN streaming links?
  18. Looking at the OC hires that UNC & FSU made this offseason, is it safe to say that Manny Diaz's OC hire for Miami is underwhelming?
