  1. lol - take my $9.95, I want to subscribe to your newsletter
  2. I thought you always want to play defense first, then you know what you have to do the win or to tie. If KC had the ball first, and they score then Shanahan doesn't kick the shorty FG in OT; and KC doesn't know that they have 4 downs every series to get the first because it is score of go home. But then what would I know - growing up as a Lions fan, and then becoming an Oilers fan (fuck Bud Adams) after college.
  3. RIP Carl for the win - well done 👍
  4. My only comment is I would be a little concerned working with someone related to the bolded comment. Do you know how this investment would have performed if the indexes did not go up, is it a leveraged investment, do you know how much commission she gets from these complicated structured investments. Don't be lulled to sleep because it worked this time. As the famous money manager Ron Burgundy said - 60% of the time it works every time.
  5. OP - how about an update, there are lots of recommendations here, some better than others. I didn't read them all, but I have a question - how much are you contributing to your 401k, can you reduce it (temporarily) to only getting the maximum match amount (always max out the max - nothing beats "free" money). Pay down the debt, then take the payments (plus what you were in debt) and increase you 401k contribution to the max allowed. Also, if you can qualify for a 0% balance transfer to another card, I would do that at the same time - it will cost you about 4% of the transfer balance, which isn't great but beats paying almost 30% interest. But you have to find a solution that works for you, that you can manage financially, emotionally, and with support and agreement with your spouse. I think there is value in Dave Ramsey, and the living a less expensive life and being debt free; but if you are reasonably good at maintaining your finance why not keep cheap debt and let your money earn for you. Right now I have 3 outstanding debts, home loan 3.75%, car loan 4.15% and a nominal balance on a 0% CC - I could pay them all off from my emergency cash account but that is earning 5.2%, so why lose money on the paying off cheap debt. This debt will all be paid off before I retire, and it isn't affecting my life style. Good luck with your journey Poko
  6. nailed it Potgieter shoots a 59 today, same course, and he did it with a bogey. Cole goes 62-67 to get to T5
  7. This ride up sure is fun - but remember the ride hasn't ended. Please keep your hands and feet fully inside the car. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
  8. I don't know, I knew a guy (let's call him George) in the early 90's, worked as a consultant for an Environmental consulting firm I was at for about a year. He was hard to reach, cell phones weren't really out and no home phone at his apartment, he said he was Army Ranger who had served in Nam (red flag....just wait), son was a Navy Seal, George would stop in the office a couple of times a week to see if we needed him for any work, sometimes we did, sometimes not. But he did have a pager, so we asked him if we could page him when we had work for him. His answer was that it really wasn't his pager, after some badgering he said it was a DoD pager. A few months later George told us he wasn't available to work for a few months, that he had been called up to go back into the military. I saw him for the last time about mid-1991, he was just back from Desert Storm and his story was that he was part of an insertion team that went into Iraq (he wouldn't say where) and that their job was to laser paint targets for the bombs/missile that were coming in. I have not idea what ever became of George, but he'd have to be about 80+ by now, it could all been a hoax, but I believed him. Very interesting guy, very rough around the edges, but seemed like straight shooter if you were straight with him.
  9. Holey Shit - I just realized that this is gonna end up just like TxTow posting shit about rock throwers. Nicole - thanks for the updates, and we look forward to your trial
  10. Yup - today Aldrich Potgieter, playing the putt & chip course put up a 28 on the front side but only has 2 birdies and a bogey on the back so he needs to step it up to shoot a 59 or 60. and Cooper Dossey put in a 29, Someone is going 60 or under today, Update - Cole Hammer T4 at -12, 3 holes to play
  11. Only SPY matters - because you can't buy a share in the S&P 500 btw SPY is currently $499.64
  12. beat me to it Also OP needs to post in a quote so the long-cat post isn't taking up the whole page - but awesome story
  13. Here is one of my missed opportunity stories - I first heard of Berkshire Hathaway in 1986 (it was trading about $2,600/share), by 1989 I had a little money (maybe $20-25k) and BRK had risen to over $4,000/share. I thought that was crazy for a company that didn't pay a dividend, held a small(ish) group of investment is dissimilar companies but had well written public documents (annual reports, proxy, etc). But I didn't by a share or two - alas each share of BRK.A is worth about $600,000 today. Ah yes the one that got away....I feel like I'm telling fishing story
  14. Just play the game We are all sick of the hype, analysis, Swift, Purdy v. Mahomes, halftime show, etc . Play the fucking game and sadly let football end for the season (sorry Rock)
  15. and looking at the scoreboard, this event is being played on 2 courses. Of the guys in the top 22, 19 played the same course as Del Solar, including Cole Hammer who is T5 at -8. 13 under is pretty damned good anywhere, but yeah it looks like a turkey shoot an that course.
  16. Should have bought calls, players gotta play
  17. well that seems completely normal in this day & age I think they don't want US lawmakers that the Saudi's plan to take over the world using sports as a Trojan Horse to infiltrate capitalist countries - you have been warned
  18. Jebus - are you new here? First rule of investing is we don't talk about investing. Okay - this early 2024 market must surly be getting to the point of over-heated, but I hate to sell into a stupid run up, to only realized I was too early after it runs up another 25%
  19. You know who is laughing about the House Republicans failure to govern, failure to impeach, failure to lead, etc the 2 people I am certain are laughing are:
  20. I wish that I didn't have a job, then I could go hang out with a bunch of assholes and yell at people telling them that they are assholes, constitution hating, idiots who don't love this country.
  21. So you are saying that I should be okay flying a Max 9, as long as the door plug was not removed after the initial install? Will they let the service records be reviewed before boarding the plane? - obv, asking for a friend
  22. Over 41,000 posts on THIS message board and you expect us to believe that? Seriously, they were negligent in buying a troubled minor a firearm, and allowing him to access, On the other hand, my oldest son was an absolute shithead for several years, and it took him until he was almost 19 and went in the army to get his head out of his ass. I was responsible for him driving my car, even without permission, and thankfully his 3 accidents were all the single vehicle type. But his run ins with the police, and I'm sure the myriad of things I don't even know about give me pause to parental criminal liabllity. Hopefully this is a narrow case and does not open floodgates to sue parents who struggle with "bad" kids.
