  1. I would love to see the +- for Holle and Gonzales playing together this year. It's probably insane. Having two shooters like that together makes our offense flow so much better.
  2. This team is our best opportunity to win a national title in my lifetime if we can just stay healthy. We are loaded. Hopefully, Rori isn't out long-term.
  3. Holle and Gonzales need to play more minutes together. When you have two players that can stretch the court it gives everyone more space.
  4. Last year we didn't have a backup PG. Booker is a good one even though she's really a point-forward.
  5. Just wish this team could stay healthy because damn we are loaded. We are doing this without our leading scorer (Jones) and best 2 way guard in the country (Harmon). How many teams could do that missing these caliber of players?
  6. Well that Harmon tweet was deleted and I'm not seeing anymore confirmation. Maybe it was a mistake?
  7. Comparing this year's roster to next year's roster, I think you can make the argument we are potentially better at every position other than MB. 1) We definitely have more talent at OH with the transfer additions. Weenas should also have more chemistry with a new team/system. 2) Swindle should be better in year 2 and healthier (hopefully). We also now have a legit backup setter in Carlson. 3) Defensively, trading Carlson for Barnes is a wash at worst but I think Carlson is probably a little bit better when you factor in other strengths such as serving/secondary setting. The big question is going to be MB. We're replacing two very good and experienced MB in O'Neal and Bergmark.
  8. I think this is almost certainly the plan with Carlson. Her strengths are defense and secondary setting. When you factor in Carlson's serve this is probably better than adding a true defensive specialist that might be slightly better defensively. Carlson's future, at this level, is not as a setter because of her size.
  9. It's always difficult to interpret what's fact and fiction from the 9.95ers but it definitely sounds like the staff is really high on Lefau. Sark has mentioned him a couple times in press conferences too.
  10. The only potential weakness I see is the block with young middles and losing Phillips from the pins. 1) We will be the best serving team in the country. 2) If we aren't the best offensive team in the country we will be 2nd or 3rd with all the OH talent, Swindle's offense, Skinner, etc. 3) Defensively we should be really good with Halter having another year of experience and if Carlson is as good as Baylor fans say she is defensively. Akana is good too. Probably not the best defensive team in the country but still really good. The key will be the block with those young middles assuming we don't add anyone from the portal.
  11. Yeah, I edited above but this looks to be the portal "DS" addition more than anything. Even though she's technically a setter.
  12. Which I think is her biggest strength to begin with. According to Baylor fans, she's really good at bump sets. This doesn't look like a prototypical "setter" addition. Defense, serving, secondary setter. This is our "DS" addition from the portal even though she's considered a setter.
  13. The Carlson addition makes a lot more sense when reading the volleytalk board and seeing the Baylor comments. She's a completely different player than Swindle. Not much of an offensive threat or great in the block, but very good defensively, and led the Big 12 in service aces/set. Swindle is a more offensive player and puts up a big block. I'm viewing this more as a defensive/serve addition than anything. If there aren't any great DS in the portal this may be the best option. Not sure what that means in the context of a 6-2.
  14. Carlson also led Baylor in aces this year. We are returning our top 4 servers (Skinner, Halter, Akana and Swindle) plus adding two more very good servers in Lauenstein and Carlson. This team could be even better from the service line next year and we saw what it was capable of doing in the national semis and national championship matches.
  15. As somebody that's not well-versed in volleyball as other sports it does seem like Carlson and Swindle would be a good fit together in a 6-2. Isn't Carlson considered one of the best bump setters in the country? Which is a bit different than the strengths Swindle brings. So now I wonder if the plan is to run a 6-2.
  16. I kind of thought the latter. I was somewhat worried about putting all our eggs (no pun) into the basket of someone that had a kid just 6 months ago. I don't think so. I think a OH leaving is more realistic. Even when Jenna was struggling, Elliott stuck with her. I think it's pretty evident that Elliott wasn't a big fan of the talent we had at the pins or he would have benched Jenna.
  17. The other thing is portal players like Rutherford and Carlson turn really good teams into national title contenders. Just keeping them away from other rosters is a win for us. Players want to win championships so why not stack the roster and keep them away from other good teams?
  18. Read all the salty Nebraska fan replies about "Texas ruining the sport." You love to see it.
