  1. Jordan Scruggs (Horns 247) wrote this about Heze Kent, earlier this month. "Another name to know is Heze Kent, a 6-foot-5, 300 pound freak-show athlete from southeast Georgia. Rarely do those types of prospects end up leaving Georgia or the southeast for their collegiate careers, but could Texas strike back-to-back years after pulling Justus Terry out of Georgia in a similar scenario? Kent projects as an offensive tackle prospect, but he plays tight end at the high school level and is being recruited at both offensive tackle and tight end depending on the school. Kent also comes from a stellar basketball background and in 2024 led the entire state of Georgia 5A classification in rebounds. I'm not sure what position Texas likes Kent at, but he's one of those athletes you just get in the building and figure out later. I mean the dude is 6-foot-5 and had 983 receiving yards on 24 YPC and 211 rushing yards on 6.6 YPC in just 12 games as a junior in a season where he played around 315 pounds. Through 16 basketball games as a junior this winter, Kent is averaging over 16 points per game, over 14 rebounds per game, and is averaging at least one assist, steal, and block per game as well. The freak-show prospect visited Texas for the Kentucky game on Nov. 23 after first picking up an offer from the Longhorns in April. Earlier in the fall Kent released a top seven of Ohio State, Miami, Florida, Kentucky, Georgia, USC, and Texas, and the Longhorns will have a dogfight on their hands in Kent's recruitment. (SCRUGGS)" (Also added this later.) "Other thoughts: The more and more I think about it, Heze Kent might be athletic enough to play a tight end role in college that's similar to what Darnell Washington played at Georgia as a tight end that's effectively a sixth offensive lineman on the field but that can also run enough of the route tree well enough. Washington is two inches taller and weighed about 50 pounds less than Kent currently does, but you should be able to see the vision with the comp."

  5. 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 With a busy week ahead, I asked Kanu why he could see himself hypothetically picking Texas in the end. "I mean, shit, I can play football," he said. "That's it. That's why I can see myself there. It's the same thing everywhere. I'm trying to play. I'm trying to make an impact." I MEAN, SHIT, FULL ARTICLE BELOW. THAT'S IT. 16. Several nice quotes in this article, from 'ol Chasedahbag. This one made me chuckle. "We talked about how the school is and how much he wants me there," Calicut said of his conversation with Joseph. "He said I fit in their scheme and that I fit in like Michael Taaffe. He said I play similar to Michael Taaffe. That felt good to hear too, because that's a good player. Who doesn't want to play like Michael Taaffe?" And this sounds good ... "Oh yeah Texas for sure," Calicut said of his current standouts. "Texas has been one of my dream schools since I was a little kid. Forever been a Longhorns fan. I played for a little league team called the Longhorns so Texas has been standing out. Of course Oregon stands out. Michigan, LSU, think those standout but I think Texas is leading the race for sure." 18. An early look at the visitor list with Texas' Junior Day one week away Jordan Scruggs The Texas Longhorns are set to host their annual January Junior Day exactly one week from today when countless prospects make their way to the Forty Acres for the Longhorns' first major recruiting event since the end of July Texas Pool Bash. At the time of publishing with the Junior Day over a week away, Texas is set to host over a dozen prospects ranked inside the 2026 Top247 and seven prospects ranked inside the 2026 Top 100. With plenty of time between now and when prospects are set to arrive Saturday morning, expect at least a dozen more names to be added to the list over the next week. Although it's unclear what the exact plans will be for the Junior Day as of yet, Horns247 is expecting the batch of visitors to get to see the home basketball game vs. Texas A&M (Tipoff set for 1:30 PM CT) on Saturday after the Longhorns had this past year's Junior Day visitors walk over to the Moody Center to watch Tyrese Hunter hit a buzzer-beating layup to knock off No. 9 ranked Baylor 75-73. Horns247 will have more content throughout the week revolving around the Junior Day and the prospects set to partake in it, but for now, our growing visitor list reads as follows: TEXAS COMMITS: Dia Bell - Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.)
