  1. He headlines Power Five ADs but then the caveat it is only two. Let me guess. Rutgers and Maryland.
  2. Todays B1G Presidents meet has to have been like a round of poker. In a corner of the table we have tOSU staring/daring @ IU or PU to vote to cancel the season.
  3. "toxic masculinity" lol. Just switch to flag football. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/29617569/colorado-state-suspends-football-activities-investigate-racism-verbal-abuse-allegations

  5. LOL. We took an anniversary trip to Oregon in the summer of 2017. It was 115 degrees in the interior of Oregon and well over 100 in Portland. Biggest surprise in my many decades of travel. Unusual. Of course. But it can happen. A lot of folks never realize how hot it gets in Denver in the summer. They only think mountains.
  6. @Updawg The tech gave me a history lesson of refrigerant. Apparently DuPont had the patent on R22 and once it expired everyone was making knockoffs. The Gov replaced R22 with something called R-410A. He said I was lucky that the units being installed today most likely had R-410A (which he hated and said the smaller coils are not lasting) but refrigerant standards are being upgraded by Gov all the time due to ozone. It's more costly than R22 units and he said he would guarantee R-410A would be replaced with something even more environmental friendly but unfriendly to home owners
  7. Exactly. Plus the capacitor was bad. The repair is keeping the pool table nice and cool
  8. Elvis. In Conroe. August 1955. Louisiana Hayride Tour.
  9. No. I watched him. The fan would have not allowed the top of the condenser/compressor to fit as the fan sat too high. He needed to cut about 4" off the shaft to let the fan blades sit low enough. You could see the previous installer also cut the shaft.
  10. Best Cover I've ever heard for Meat Loaf
  11. The AC was performing just fine when the tech arrived. He said from what I told him it appeared to him the condenser fan motor was the problem. He was certain the home warranty company would pay so he opened up the compressor and removed the fan motor. The warranty company kept him on hold for 45 minutes debating on whether or not to pay. They finally agreed. He noted the fan had been replaced before and they had to cut off the shaft because it was too long for the 1 1/2 ton unit. He claimed the fan would overheat, then shut down the unit, and then it would recover eventually. I thought about it and I told him the fan always operated when it was not working. He said oh, it must be the capacitor. He checked and sure enough it was bad. So new fan motor, new capacitor (there were two actually one larger one and a very small one). It's been cooling now this evening. Hope this is the end of problem. Thanks again to all who commented.
  12. Go figure. Repairmen due this afternoon. Yesterday at this exact time: Yesterday: Therm @ 77; room temp 86; humidity 73%; outside temp 91 degrees Today: Term @ 77; room temp 77; humidity 64%; outside temp 92 degrees (It knows doctor is on his way)
  13. Yesterday was another one of those unexplainable events according to Nest. 11:54am Thermostat set at 77 degrees; room temp 86; humidity 73%; outdoor temp was 91 degrees 2:47pm Set to 78 ; room temp 94; humidity 67%; outdoor temp was 96 degrees Suddenly starts cooling down at 5pm. Set to 78; room temp 87; humidity 48%; outdoor temp was 97 degrees 7:30 pm Set to 77; room temp 81; humidity 57%; outdoor temp was 92 degrees Of course this morning it is perfectly normal. At 7:45 am Set to 77, room temp is 75, humidity is 60% and outside temp is 79 degrees Repairman scheduled between 1-5pm today.
  14. @ztejas Responding to what David Dennison said about Lebanon's collapse. Just triggered a memory.
  15. I will always hold a sweet spot for Beirut. Back in 1972, '73 and early '74 while working in Kuwait (think oklahoma, no booze, nothing) our weekend getaway was Libon. Flying Kuwait Airways (again, no liquor) and landing in Beirut I noticed troops everywhere and tanks and artillery all around the airport and runways. Nevertheless, we arrived at the super smart Phoenician Hotel which had swim up mermaids (live ones) in the swimming pool bar staring at us through the plexiglass windows. I later learned the hotel was leveled in the Civil War. A night up in the Cedars at the Casino was just what I needed. A quick trip south to Sidon and Tyre with a driver (who had a big assed weapon). As I toured the ancient Phoenician grounds by myself around the ruins Israeli jet aircraft swooped low enough and fast enough to scare off my driver. A few hours later thankfully he returned as I had no clue how I was to get back to Beirut other than a camel. We stopped at a bar on the way back to Sidon and just as we crossed the Litani River I spotted a hole in the wall bar. I wanted a drink. The driver told me we were in the Arab Partitioned dry side of Libon. I asked if the could get me a coke then instead. He informed me you cannot drink coke in Arab world only Pepsi. As I started to exit his car he told me to get back inside. We were in the area of shall we say anti Ugly American. He retrieved my Pepsi and we headed back to the hotel. This was repeated many weekends (Friday-Saturday in Arab world) in Beirut proper. I didn't vernture outside the city any more except up in the hills to the Casino. I learned Libon had never had a recent census taken. The Government required a Christian President and a Muslim something. The Christians knew they were badly outnumbered and would never allow a census. Sort of sounds like America today lol. Anyway I loved the place, still do, and hated to watch them rip themselves apart in a Civil War with the damned Christians/Hezbollah/Syria and every other devil on our planet.
  16. It's a Nest thermostat which goes off line a lot but according to Nest info on web the schedule is not affected. Nevertheless, great suggestions and I will ask the tech to bypass. Thanks to all. Much appreciated.
  17. I'm certain I'm headed towards a new AC unit. Back to original question, is Goodman good enough. At my age I probably only have ten years at most left in this house.
  18. @TwiceHorn Agreed. Perplexing. Right now the AC therm is set on 78 and the inside room temp is 92. Outside temp in Houston now is 94. I just hope the damn thing doesn't start cooling by the time the repair arrives tomorrow.
  19. @Jkwellborn The fan outside on the condenser is not blowing hot air. The two bigger units outside are exhausting hot air when fan is circulating. Not so on bad AC. Not a heat pump. Electric heat.
  20. @Jkwellborn The issue began 6 months ago when the compressor made a singing noise you could hear much clearer inside the house than standing outside by the compressor. Since it cools sometimes, more than not, and the fan is not blowing hot air out the original guy who came and couldn't find anything wrong said probably capacitor. He did check refrigerant. The loose duct part is interesting. The fan blows hard out the first vent but a trickle out the second furthest away from unit.
  21. @mdmostTrue. But they are missing out on several key matchups and I'd think they'd rather have bsu vs dipshit with nothing else available the first four weeks of season. Bowls may be an even larger issue for networks if flu rages into winter.
  22. I was really surprised the SEC caved after the ACC obviously tried to hold on to their traditional rivalry games with the SEC at end of season. I can't wait to hear how this is going to fall out with TV contracts. ESPN lawyers and Fox Sports lawyers are probably in conference calls right now. Probably like Boeing and the airlines trying to juke and shuffle what each is given.
  23. A timely topic. We are not the original owners of our 3 story TH. It was built in 1993. The previous owners in 2017 replaced downstairs (3 1/2 ton Trane) and second floor (3 ton Trane) but not the heaters. No issues. The third floor (actually a nicely refinished attic with bath and a pool table ) is a 20 year old Goodman A/C (1 1/2 ton) with electric heat. We have a home warranty with Super Home. The problem is getting the Goodman to cooperate when the service tech arrived. For several months on occasion the Goodman stops cooling, infrequent. The Nest thermostat is set on 78 and it can reach 92 up there. Then overnight it catches up and cools to Nest setting. Rainy, cool days like we've had recently in Houston allow it to work normal. A few 95 degree days and it can't cool. The original tech told me it was probably a capacitor issue and the Warranty company fine print will not replace those. When the compressor is running and the fan is blowing it will not blow hot air like the other two units. I'm ready to pull the plug and buy an entirely new unit. I'm also told Goodman isn't a good unit. But hey, if the current one is 20 years plus can the current crop be that bad?
  24. @Wulaw Horn You should stop posting right now and start writing the movie script. I guarantee you the kids education, your next home and your vacation home will be paid for by movie rights to the best travel novel of 2020. I hope your family stars in the film :).
