  1. Gerry Hamilton Texas Hoops: Battle for Wilcher; team notes Sean Miller and staff are in a battle for St. John's transfer combo guard Simeon Wilcher. Texas has been the favorite to land the 6-foot-4 CG that started 25 games for the Big East Champion since entering the portal. Maryland and Ole Miss are among the teams battling hard vs. the Longhorns. Maryland, in particular, due to the family relationship with Buzz Williams have been a thorn in the last 16 hours. Chris Beard is also trying his best to get Wilcher to not commit to the Longhorns. More on the remaining needs for the 2025-26 team below. Two team notes ... Two players have looked really good in recent work. The staff is very excited about what 6-8.5 power forward Nic Codie can become in Miller's offensive system. His skill set has really impressed. And how impressively he immediately jumped in and showed his desire to develop. The staff also likes what they have seen from the skill set of Jordan Pope, and believes there is more they can unlock offensively. Pope is expected to be a quality mover without the ball in Miller's system, which will create more scoring opportunities on the move. Texas current 2025-26 roster... Tramon Mark, CG, 6-6, Gr. (10.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists) Jordan Pope, CG, 6-0, senior (11.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists) Chendall Weaver, G, 6-3, senior (6.9 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.4 assists) Camden Heide, F, 6-7, junior (4.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, 39.2% from three at Purdue) Dailyn Swain, F, 6-8, junior (11.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.6 steals at Xavier) Matas Vokietaitas, C, 7-0, sophomore (10.2 points, 5.4 rebounds at FAU) Lassina Traore, C, 6-10, senior (11.9 points, 10.3 rebounds, 1.2 assists in 2023-24 at LBSU) Nic Codie, PF, 6-8.5, sophomore John Clark, PF, 6-8.5, freshman Jamie Vinson, PF, 6-10.5, sophomore 11th and 12th scholarship portal targets ... Texas will take one more combo guard, and likely two more guards to complete the 2025-26 team. A combo of a college portal and international player is in play. The 13th scholarship… Texas will be patient here. Will likely be a developmental player. There are a number of international prospects getting serious evaluations. Sean MIller's staff ... Chris Ogden - General Manager Adam Cohen - Associate Head Coach David Miller - Assistant coach Kenya Hunter - assistant coach Ulric Malagi - assistant coach Ryan Anderson - Assistant coach/Director of player Development Ryan Reynolds - Special Assistant to the Head Coach Cam Miller -Director of Operations Andy Kettler - Head of strength & conditioning Gerry also posted this video of Evan Boisdur who he says is one of the 3-4 international guys Texas is in contact with.
  2. This thread is hilarious https://x.com/jetpackgalileo/status/1914924857713918308?s=46
  3. Bottom of roster and depth building? Securing commits? Securing signatures? Bags work in different ways.
  4. lol at irs and penalties for cheating. the benefit isn’t they can lock players in with bags it’s a lot cheaper than NIL for the schools Gerry mentioned. just providing what I think Gerry’s bigger point is
  5. Is that the place going out toward Boerne by Texas Roadhouse? For the longest I always thought that it was some sort of boutique just driving by.
  6. Revenue sharing funds are capped.
  7. The UFA’s, the FA’s they’ve brought in, etc.
  8. Pete Carroll loves Texas players for sure
  9. Would be wild to luck into the 1. Wemby, Flagg, Foxx would be insane
  10. Only top 5% get in auto now as far as in state goes.
  11. So we basically have 1.5 shooters with the half being a true freshmen?
  12. Also that we didn’t have a content house so our players could make social media videos
  13. It’s quite obvious we lured him to the portal.
  14. I'd imagine in practice they probably look much improved just like he looks much different in 7on7 situations. Once the lights come on and shit hits the fan is when it goes haywire.
  15. I asked on a stream or mentioned something about do you think the bag game will come back with revenue sharing and he said something along the lines of no doubt.
  16. It's interesting you say this because @Red Five had a similar comment on the OTF thread this was posted on. I think it's kind of what the scouts mentioned with his feet/lower body not matching his arm. He also doesn't use his arm strength at least consistently to his advantage, whether that is because he can or can't, I don't know which. IMO he's more a finesse thrower in a Drew Brees/Peyton(late years) sense and not really a Brady/Peyton(early years) drive the ball type. I said a while back in this thread when comparing him to QB's that are in the NFL now when they were coming out with elite arm talent he doesn't even compare to them. Look at the throws that Josh Allen, Herbert, etc make in the NFL...no comparison.
  17. From a NFL.com article ahead of the draft. "Real smart, great kid, real self-aware," an NFC quarterbacks coach said. "Just the arm strength and some of the decision-making (are concerns). He's going to have a big jump, too, just as far as what's asked of him at the next level. But he's somebody you can see develop, develop, develop and then -- bang! Because there's a competitor there that's hard to teach and there's an intelligence factor there that's hard to teach." "He's a good player. He's got timing and anticipation. He's been coached well. And Steve -- I think they're a little careful," an AFC executive said. "But he's more player than talent. He's just not a big kid (6-2 1/8, 214). He's been hurt every year since high school. The arm's very average. There's not a lot of talent there. He's not a starter. He's a distributor. He's a point guard. He ain't going to push it down the field." "The Texas kid, I wasn't a fan of," an AFC coordinator said. "He can hit short and intermediate, but he's like an all-arm thrower. He never uses his lower body and he's not accurate down the field." "There's just no juice in his body," an NFC assistant coach said. "He's little. Arm strength lacks. Athleticism lacks. I don't really know the upside of that kid. When you put their film on and (Arch) Manning comes in the game, the ball is just jumping off his hand in comparison." "Operation, decision-making, ball placement -- he's just the safest pick, although the ceiling is not high," an NFC coordinator said. "Kind of just an average traits guy, but the kid's been through a lot," an AFC scouting director said. "You can't discredit his ability to overcome adversity. Arch Manning on his heels. We want to see guys that can handle pressure and fight through tough times, and he did that. S---, he had this guy breathing down his neck for two years. I like that part about him. But the rest is kind of average." "He's just good at a lot of things, and he can operate an offense," another NFC assistant coach said. "Is he going to be an elite guy or a Day 1 starter? No. But I think he could develop into a really good 2. I think he's got that type of ability. You first turn on the tape, he's making some really good ball-out throws. The ball comes out of his hand and he's accurate on that stuff. It's just when he's gotta start pushing the ball downfield, that's where some of the question marks come out." Said an AFC scout: "There's some tools and ability there. He's been a little streaky at times. There's been some flashes of some big-time clutch plays in some moments in games, and there's times he's had some misses, too. Doesn't have a really big arm or dominant traits. Could be a functional starter, continue to grow. He's won some games."
  18. I think Dart may end up being the best QB in this draft and have the best career of those in this draft.
