  1. I guess the Dixie Chicken will have to modify their menu
  2. Yes, religion has lots of hypocrites, lots of grifters, pedos, etc. But they walk the walk for the most part. Count me in as religion is the excuse behind a lot of shittiness that goes on around the world.
  3. Not really. Other brother’s flirtation with DeSantis was really before his candidacy was officially announced. They are both decent men, church going and charitable. But republicanism has been so ingrained in Texas in our demographic, it’s hard to break out. Took me awhile…
  4. Unsurprisingly, I grew up in Texas in a white, conservative, Christian, republican family. I started out as card carrying republican but dropped the status in the early 90’s. My father and brothers continued to be republicans. My father has passed. One brother watches Fox “News” in all his spare time with his wife while other brother, while a straight ticket republican, watches sports and the LHN in his spare time. Nothing can keep my Fox brother from not voting for Trump, but my other brother was looking for an alternative. He mentioned DeSantis as a saner alternative to Trump. But DeSantis was the model for how not to run a campaign. Reasons: - He could have showed a softer, less crazy side to being a republican, but instead tried to show he was more right wing, e.g. the FL book banning and monkey business in meddling with the state universities. - He picked a stupid, vindictive battle with Disney. - He let Florida deteriorate as the expense of his falling campaign by refusing federal funds and not really doing shit to rebuild communities impacted from the hurricane. - He’s a weirdo. Thin skinned. Can’t relate to a crowd. Has poor table manners. - High heels and everyone knows this - White boots. You mean to tell me you couldn’t have come up with some black or drab green rubber boots? So my other brother will be voting for Trump as well.
  5. Went on a hiking and camping trip in ‘05 around the Sawtooth Mountains and stopped in Stanley to buy some groceries. We were in the produce section and my buddy (also a Texas-ex) discussing our campsite menu amongst ourselves, minding our own business. Some slack jawed young man in his early thirties or so was with him mom shopping and overheard us talking. He asked “Where are you from?” I replied “Texas”. He then excitedly said “They got a lot of rednecks there, don’t they?” I mumbled something in response but thought “Yeah, but you’d fit right in buddy.”
  6. Dạk is a good regular season quarterback, nice guy and a good teammate. But he doesn’t have the mental makeup to excel in big games nor make his teammates better in big games.
  7. @tokamak id stay away from places like this though.
  8. I’d advise finding an exchange rate kiosk at a mall if you live in a major city. Some banks exchange $ to pesos too. Ice is fine in hotels and major tourist areas like Polanco, La Condesa, Roma Norte and Sur, and a the tourist parts of El Centro. But I would use the eye test. If it looks clean, it probably is. But there is always a chance, just as I’ve gotten sick after eating at a Macaroni Grill in Houston and eating oysters at Pappadeaux in FW.
  9. The money they saved from proper burials went to Brett Favre…probably
  10. Randolph Duke vibes
  11. Aggy. Getting under people’s skin since 1939.
  12. Raised by wolves
  13. Now this is creepy as fuck…
  14. alternative facts
  15. They might wanna start the Rogaine treatment now.
  16. Gunny has a handle on the NIL situation…
  17. Reminds me of the quote attributed to PT Barnum...
  18. He’s a pathological liar but I’ll bet he knows some shit that’s true. You have to know everyone’s dirty laundry within a few weeks of roaming the halls. I hope he shows up every day at the House and gives a daily press conference.
  19. Don’t believe he’s darkened the door of any institution of higher learning. He was lucky to graduate high school. What jack he’s made has been by hitting a few events on the MAGA grifting circuit. He’s lazy, playing school is too much work.
  20. Fox News just needs to focus on true stories, like the libs war on Thanksgiving.
  21. So can the eventual attempt to escape conviction be consecutive to her current sentence or would it be concurrent?
  22. Even guilty of a heinous crime, if my daughter or sister were going to prison the rest of her life and I would never be able to see her outside of a visitation room, I would be pretty upset and shed some tears. A lot of lives were ruined the day Mo was murdered. I don't feel sorry for Kaitlin, I do feel sorry for Mo, her family and Kaitlin's parents...in that order.
  23. It’s actually a pretty damn good restaurant, expensive though. Best saag paneer I’ve ever had. They have tandoor ovens. Usually pass through Alvord on the way to see family, a welcome diversion from the usual 287 fare. Local (DFW probably) south Asian women dress up in their traditional finest while the some of the men will sip on a byob 1.75 liter of Jack Daniels. It can be crowded at times. Shame I have to strike it off the list.
  24. My MAGA brother and sister-in-law bought some for their ranch house bout 5 years ago. Yes, they truly were lumpy. Think of a fabric bag with chunks of foam as filler; that was sweet baby republican Jesus’s favorite pillow. As Junior went to school out of state, I used the bedroom 75% of the time for about a dozen nights a year. The pillows were quietly replaced a few years later with something decent. I never said a word (I think) but reality eventually hit them.
  25. Remember, this is the guy who had “martial law” as one of his talking points when he met with Trump and his merry band of MAGA nut jobs right after the election.
