  1. Great pickup for Kansas St. Ward is going to put up numbers running behind that OL full of 6th yr Seniors.
  2. Nahlin (IT) says that it won't be Kendall Miller as the new Director of High School Relations.
  3. Nahlin (IT) says Gary Bryant Jr is a name in the portal to keep an eye on for WR - though he doesn't graduate from USC until May. Had a good 2021 catching 44 balls for 579 yards and 7tds. 3 games into 2022 it was clear Lincoln didn't have a place for him in his offense and Bryant decided to RS to preserve a season of eligibility. https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/gary-bryant-jr-1.html https://usctrojans.com/sports/football/roster/gary-bryant-jr-/12960
  4. Did he? I remember that great defensive play on the goal line - not much a WR can do in that case. PFF didn't count it as a drop.
  5. I think the most important question is 'can he coach?'. If he can, then whether its RB, WR, or TE I don't think it makes a whole lot of difference. Obviously there are nuances to each position - but most of these coaches have come up through the ranks coaching different positions - and most players nowadays have personal trainers/coaches. I'm not too worried about whether or not he's coached at a certain position for 'x' number of years.
  6. Bobby (IT) reporting that talk behind the scenes is that Patterson is leaving. Time away from home has been a factor. Bobby not ready to 'call it' but he would not be surprised to see Patterson leave.
  7. New posting on the UT Athletics website: https://utaustin.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/en-US/UTstaff/job/UT-MAIN-CAMPUS/Special-Assistant-to-the-Head-Coach_R_00017767 Is this Gary's position - or a new one?
  8. Georgia just recruited two very highly rated guys from the portal and have their leading WR McConkey coming back. Given the TE usage in that offense - AD Mitchell is more than likely the odd man out next season.
  9. Had a nice year under Helton but looks like he was recruited over by Riley.
  10. Gerry (IT) believes the High School Relations position will be filled by the end of the week though he is unsure when it will be formally announced.
  11. From the IT Scoop: Two candidates mentioned for the WR coach - Samples at ASU and Justin Stepp from South Carolina. Stepp was Chad Morris' WR coach at SMU and then Arkansas before moving to join Shane Beamer at South Carolina after Morris firing at Arkansas. https://gamecocksonline.com/sports/football/roster/coach/justin-stepp/ They say that both the WR coach position and the HR Relations position are in high demand with candidates reaching out to Texas.
  12. IT Scoop says that their sources all expect Catalon to pick Texas. Texas doctors have signed off on the shoulder - and the only roadblock would have been if Georgia decided to pursue (that is where Catalon's girlfriend is). They mention two candidates for the WR coach - Samples at ASU and Justin Stepp from South Carolina.
  13. That certainly would be part of the job.
  14. Yeah - I just kind of assumed it was a 'semi-retirement' kind of position. But if the scenario CTJ mentioned is a possibility that would surely make it more attractive to a coach like Dodge.
  15. Justin Johnson doesn't even have a wikipedia page - how am I supposed to know what to think of him? Seriously though - he caught 87 balls for 1229 yards and 12tds his Senior year at Houston. So he's got that going for him - which is nice.
  16. Gerry (IT) says Catalon arrived on campus this morning and had lunch with Blake Gideon. Scheduled to have dinner with Sark tonight. Lets hope it wasn't Denny's
  17. Closer to 190 than 400? Just so we're clear - the reported weights for Akana this weekend were 199, 196, 215, and 'closer to 190'.
  18. The University of Wayward Longhorns grabs another:
  19. This is for an 'on field' position - pretty sure those rules don't apply (also not sure if they even would apply to 'trainers' or just HS coaches).
  20. Not to bring this name up - but the only 'personal trainer' I'm aware of Texas hiring as a position coach is Jay Valai - but he had 1 year of experience coaching at Rutgers. Is anyone aware of any other personal trainer hires Texas has made?
  21. 247's public database only shows data back to 2010. Here are Texas numbers each year going back:
