  1. Maybe you were thinking of Wardell Mack to Florida
  2. Looks like his brother is going to be playing sooner rather than later, so let’s hope he balls out this year.

    Week 1 Recap

I saw that TXSU has 71 newcomers while CU has 87. Whole new world.
  4. This is my concern set in a nutshell.
  5. I had this same thought, specifically with regard to Mitchell. He seems like the type who shows up for big games. Wouldn’t surprise me if he had a “For who? For what?” attitude when it came to playing Rice.
  6. Eh. I’d take a shitty conference championship. But you’re right, if he’s the 1st round pick many made him out to be, we should be in the playoffs, and it’s abundantly clear that he is not. I do think the rest of the team is good enough to win the conference if we play to his strengths and that would be more forward program progress.
  7. Kris Ross may have a role as a 3rd down interior pass rush specialist this year. That guy has some get off.
  8. I knew I shouldn’t have come here hoping to feel better about yesterday
  9. I’m just worried our offense is going to look like Kevin Costner at the end of Tin Cup, hitting for the green over and over and failing rather than laying up.
  10. I’ve been a nattering nabob of negativity on the offensive threads this morning, so I’ll give PK and his players their props, because they absolutely deserved it yesterday. They look like they’ve taken the same quantum leap from year 2 to 3 that they did from the disaster in year 1 to last year. They should keep us in every game this year, especially in conference. The youth movement is very exciting. Next week will be a real test to see how we do with a DT QB who runs like a RB when they spread us out in an empty set. I’m expecting a patient, ball control offense that tries to wear us out. I was hoping for a potent offense to force them out of that strategy, but after yesterday . . .
  11. Appreciate the rewatch summary and analysis. I’ll just note on the deep ball PI’s that had Quinn put the ball where the WR could catch it in stride there wouldn’t be an opportunity for the DB to interfere. That’s my primary concern with Quinn if we insist on running Sark’s preferred attack plan - teams are just going to dare us to throw deep and we’ll keep wasting plays doing so.
  12. The conclusion that I’m drawing is that Quinn can’t hit a deep ball when the WR has 5 yards on the defender, same as last year.
  13. I agree with a lot of your points, but
  14. Alabama - 27 Texas - 13 Defense fights valiantly for 3 quarters and gets worn down late due to lack of support from the offense. Bama total yards, 350
  15. By way of comparison, Jalen Milroe, “the RB playing QB” that we face next week, hit three deep passes in Bama’s game last night. Quinn certainly seems much more comfortable and efficient in a short-intermediate RPO-based passing game, but Sark seems he’ll bent on forcing him into the big game hunting deep shot framework. And yes, the OL’s inability to manhandle Rice is a concern no matter what scheme we run or who is at QB
  16. I’ve rationalized enough opening lackluster performances against inferior teams to gloss over the way we looked today. This isn’t the offense we were sold in the off-season and I am really losing hope that Ewers is ever going to be the kind of QB we need. The o-line’s inability to pass block or run well on the Rice D is the kind of early red flag that doesn’t just vanish overnight. It’s going to hold us back all year. Defense looks as good as we’ve seen it in along time, and Alabama will be a rock fight for a while before we finally wear down. The Big 12 looks pretty mid, but I’m a lot less optimistic about making the championship game than I was this morning.
  17. I’d settle for an All Big 12 Team honorable mention
  18. 2010 all over again
  19. Are you serious?
  20. You wish!
  21. They’re already playing all over the place.
  22. I am there as well. Everyone feel free to save this and light me up next week if he shreds Bama, but I’m wondering how the recruiting services got his evaluation so very wrong.
  23. Bert “Nails” Auburn
  24. Is it me or is Broughton playing a lot? I know we’re rotating D-lineman due to the heat, but still . . .
  25. The Tennessee offense may have figured some things out.
