  1. He’s a UGA beat writer/$9.95er and is just a shameless propagandizer for Kirby and Georgia. Like, worse than TexAgs bad.
  2. Easier commute for dad down I-35 from Temple to see him play than to hike back up to Lubbock.
  3. I thought you were referring to Kevin Steele from his Clemson days
  4. I posted in the commitment thread, but Bobby said on the live stream show tonight that the staff considers him one of the 2-3 best physical prospects on their board. Not a finished product who can come right in and play like Simmons, but one who has the frame to be an elite player by the time he graduates if he develops properly.
  5. Nice get. Bobby just said on the live cast that he has heard from his team sources that Zina had one of the 2-3 best frames and potential for development of anyone in the class. Give him some time, but he can be a beast in a few years.
  6. Show some respect when you talk about the team leader in fumble recoveries.
  7. I enjoy the SEC humor because is it self-deprecating and recognizes the foibles and insecurities of each fan base, unlike the State-run media propaganda on Finebaum and the SEC Network.
  8. And yet the defense came out pissing lightning and crapping thunder, so it wasn’t a team wide physicality problem. May have been more due to confusion leading to indecision, especially on the IOL, which ends up looking like passivity. If you’re thinking too much, you’re not striking decisively.
  9. Maybe you were thinking of Wardell Mack to Florida
  10. Looks like his brother is going to be playing sooner rather than later, so let’s hope he balls out this year.

    Week 1 Recap

I saw that TXSU has 71 newcomers while CU has 87. Whole new world.
  12. This is my concern set in a nutshell.
  13. I had this same thought, specifically with regard to Mitchell. He seems like the type who shows up for big games. Wouldn’t surprise me if he had a “For who? For what?” attitude when it came to playing Rice.
  14. Eh. I’d take a shitty conference championship. But you’re right, if he’s the 1st round pick many made him out to be, we should be in the playoffs, and it’s abundantly clear that he is not. I do think the rest of the team is good enough to win the conference if we play to his strengths and that would be more forward program progress.
  15. Kris Ross may have a role as a 3rd down interior pass rush specialist this year. That guy has some get off.
  16. I knew I shouldn’t have come here hoping to feel better about yesterday
  17. I’m just worried our offense is going to look like Kevin Costner at the end of Tin Cup, hitting for the green over and over and failing rather than laying up.
  18. I’ve been a nattering nabob of negativity on the offensive threads this morning, so I’ll give PK and his players their props, because they absolutely deserved it yesterday. They look like they’ve taken the same quantum leap from year 2 to 3 that they did from the disaster in year 1 to last year. They should keep us in every game this year, especially in conference. The youth movement is very exciting. Next week will be a real test to see how we do with a DT QB who runs like a RB when they spread us out in an empty set. I’m expecting a patient, ball control offense that tries to wear us out. I was hoping for a potent offense to force them out of that strategy, but after yesterday . . .
  19. Appreciate the rewatch summary and analysis. I’ll just note on the deep ball PI’s that had Quinn put the ball where the WR could catch it in stride there wouldn’t be an opportunity for the DB to interfere. That’s my primary concern with Quinn if we insist on running Sark’s preferred attack plan - teams are just going to dare us to throw deep and we’ll keep wasting plays doing so.
  20. The conclusion that I’m drawing is that Quinn can’t hit a deep ball when the WR has 5 yards on the defender, same as last year.
  21. I agree with a lot of your points, but
  22. Alabama - 27 Texas - 13 Defense fights valiantly for 3 quarters and gets worn down late due to lack of support from the offense. Bama total yards, 350
  23. By way of comparison, Jalen Milroe, “the RB playing QB” that we face next week, hit three deep passes in Bama’s game last night. Quinn certainly seems much more comfortable and efficient in a short-intermediate RPO-based passing game, but Sark seems he’ll bent on forcing him into the big game hunting deep shot framework. And yes, the OL’s inability to manhandle Rice is a concern no matter what scheme we run or who is at QB
