  1. Seems like a random time for him to post this. Or does he do it for every school he’s considering?
  2. Melvin Hills, please deliver us from this purgatory tomorrow
  3. Ethan Strauss calls this “Fracking the Pie.” Leagues aren’t even trying to grow their fan base, they now focus on extracting more and more dollars out of each existing fan. Online gambling is a big part of this.
  4. I feel like I’ve heard one of the IT guys on the podcast saying that Swanson is showing some real ability, he’s just having trouble putting on weight and may have a longer development curve because of it.
  5. Still better than Lawrence Welk
  6. The North Dallas Forty high-low special
  7. Getting some Alfred Collins vibes here. He seems to have the same tall, lanky, body type as Collins as well. Being a smart kid from a good family who wants to major in computer science speaks well of him as a person and for his future. Not sure how well that fits the profile of successful defensive linemen. Definitely a take based on ability, hope Bo Davis can bring out the dog in him.
  8. And it feels so good
  9. Made it seem like a Dr. Who episode to me, but YMMV.
  10. I’m with you on this one. There’s only so much you can do with an 80-year old action movie protagonist, which is why they shouldn’t have tried. The flashback de-aging effects were very good, but watching old man Indy in the present day punch out everyone, ride on horses through subway tunnels, and jump out of airplanes after being shot just takes me out of the movie. I know we are used to supernatural endings in these things, but the third act of this one just seemed like it crossed a line into the ridiculous for me. It also had two of the features of modern movies that I hate which are an overlong running time, and too many big, complex, CGI action sequences. It’s the Marvelization of action movies, and it’s just not for me. The Helena Shaw character just came across as selfish and unsympathetic. Phoebe Waller-Bridges is a fine actress, but the character is just written that way. I think they were going for “lovable rogue” but never got close. I was expecting her to meet a similar fate as the Alison Doody character in Last Crusade due to the way they set her up. It will take a major rewrite of her character to make her the lead for future spin-offs I won’t spoil it for those who haven’t seen, but I did love the two short appearances by major characters from the earlier movies. Those were my favorite scenes. It’s using nostalgia for cheap emotional good will, but it worked for me. Overall, I didn’t hate this movie, it was fun getting back to a theater and watching Indy on the big screen, but I remember almost nothing about the plot of the Crystal Skull and doubt I will for this one in 10 years either. Like the end of Last Crusade, it can be hard to let something that you love go, but they should have done it with this franchise. Because Disney now has the rights, they couldn’t even open the movie with the Paramount mountain logo transitioning into a shot of a real mountain like all of its predecessors. Sorry to be a wet blanket, I went in hoping for a better end to this series.
  11. Basically the “Jimbo didn’t all of a sudden forget how to coach!” rationalization.
  12. Their OOC opponents are Tennessee-Martin, Ball State, UAB, and Georgia Tech.
  13. Ridiculous that UGA doesn’t even appear on this graphic.
  14. Hampton seems like a coin flip at best as to whether he will ever be a productive member of the team if he commits. Let’s hope that all the talk about how good the culture has gotten is true and he works out better than Hall and Billingsley did.
  15. Could be he got confirmation on Hampton or Blocton, who are announcing tomorrow and Saturday, IIRC. Would be cool if it was someone else going public today.
  16. I did not know that about the second team OL, but I do have vivid recollections of us getting the ball back with a chance to tie and their combo of Kanavis McGhee and Alfred Williams just eating us alive and forcing a 3 and out, so it makes a lot of sense.
  17. Don’t enjoy this one. Gene always seemed like a good guy who did reporting and didn’t try to make everything about himself.
  18. Bobby and Gerry were asked on a live chat whether they’d take to over or under on 3.5 five stars in the class and both took the over.
  19. Totally agree. He and Sydir Mitchell could make a formidable duo or rotation plugging up the middle of our defense for the next few years.
  20. I am not a “trust the coaches” guy across the board, but I will give the benefit of the doubt on their evaluations to Bo Davis on DL, Flood on OL, and Sark on QB’s.
  21. When did we become the leader on Blocton? certainly not angry about it, just IIRC you had him going to Auburn on your last update.
  22. AI will be the ruination of us all.
  23. That’s crazy. You can’t get a better OV list than that. Is he just one of those really raw Florida kids that Gerry talks about? If you are doing recruiting rankings for a service and see an OV schedule like that, maybe it’s time to take a second look at your evaluation.
  24. Interesting. That at least makes it a little better if this is more of a financial relationship. I thought she was a Jimbo stalker/groupie that followed him from Tallahassee to College Station. At least she gets some form of compensation to act like this.
