  1. That’s what I thought. So all of the folks here saying that “someone” won’t let a vote happen for a speaker who cuts a deal with democrats, how would that work. For example let’s say someone can get enough votes from a republican private vote. Would the speaker temp then arrange for a public vote where a few democrats at the end put him/her over the top? How are the minority republicans going to stop that?
  2. What are the rules for how a vote on a speaker gets to the floor. Who decides? After the Republican private votes, no one has had enough votes to get to 217, so why have some of the public house votes proceeded anyway? Who made that happen?
  3. Very happy to see the Phillies lose, so that I don’t have to see a World Series with the worst fans of any city in the United States of America.
  4. As I said earlier you don’t know that. Nor do I. The only thing we know is that no cooperation has occurred. If it’s true that all of the Republicans are refusing to do anything, then of course the Democrats aren’t making a mistake. But if the republicans aren’t offering anything at all, why not point that out to the American people. Get public opinion on your side. And as far as what to get, I’m suggesting that maybe supporting Emmer or a more moderate Republican might be enough at this point.

    Getting old sucks

It seems that replacing the elliptical with something would be the only change? What’s wrong with the current workout? I just quit running due to stress fractures in the foot and psoas muscle discomfort.
  6. Hey go fuck yourself. Nothing I said was blaming democrats. I simply pointed out that the Democrats may be making a tactical error, losing an opportunity to advance their agenda. That’s not blaming them. It’s criticism.
  7. The key question none of us know the answer to is whether there have been discussions and whether there was a potential deal there or not that the Dems turned down. It is difficult to speculate without knowing the answer, but IF they are just sitting back and not working options in private with moderates, then I believe that is a mistake. Helping a moderate to get back in control helps advance bipartisan legislation.
  8. Multiple smart people on this thread have argued that the Democrats should just stand by and watch the shit show, believing that it’s damaging the republican party. I just don’t agree. The Democrats had an opportunity to help elect a speaker who’s only mostly a moron. They should have jumped at the opportunity to help him get over the hump. Things are going to get dangerous from here on out. Trump gains power from this shit show.
  9. More resources, fan support, and better education than Texas and Georgia. Well that’s certainly a view.
  10. What clown of a company let’s IT fire anybody?
  11. I always thought he was too small to play edge.
  12. Uncle Julio’s succcckkkksssss. People who like that place think On the Border is good.
  13. Dammit I wanted to be different by declaring that Maalik wouldn’t do well, but now that several people have jumped on that bandwagon now I have to declare he will have a 400Y passing , 100 yards rushing, 4 TD day. It’s so hard to be unique.
  14. I had no idea my former boss posted on surly.
  15. They will try hard to get thru this game with MM because it would allow Arch to then play several key games down the stretch without burning his redshirt too early by playing against BYU. If we see Arch it’s because the first half went poorly.
  16. Remember the impotent eight likes the idea of the government being shut down, no aid to Ukraine, and behind closed doors, no aid to Israel. They will just keep letting this go. At some point there will be pressure on Democrats and moderate republicans to do something.
  17. While this isn’t a bad post I feel the need to neg it because the poster has a negative overall rep. I’m biased by internet voting.
  18. Is anyone hearing Liz Chaney? I know it was a joke, but….
  19. Can one of you defensive dweebs go look at Houston’s defensive alignment, because supposedly they switched to a 3-3-5 in the second quarter, shutting down the offense. And apparently Sark has consistently struggled with this defense, causing a lot of the issues they’ve had.
  20. I can confirm that an amputation is NOT scheduled for today.
  21. As someone dealing with a weird stress fracture right now, not only is it painful and difficult to move around, continued pressure on the fracture point can create worse issues. I hope he’s not dealing with what I am because it sucks.
  22. Is anyone else struggling to hear Smoltz talk this whole series? The crowd noise seems to always be too loud to hear him without listening really closely. It’s exhausting.
