  7. Just found out a couple of days ago that a guy who sits in with my band occasionally was on the medical team at NASA, he's been posting lots of cool pics lately, going up in the Vomet Comet, an experiment where they froze an Apollo capsule solid with astronauts inside to see how long they would last on the off chance the capsule came back to Earth and landed in the Arctic/Antarctica, cool stuff.

Ha, this was my official, "Dad is old but trying to be cool" moment, I used to love this song back when it was out but never knew the name, and I tried to sing the rhythm to my son and his friend to see if they knew it, and of course got the "oh-kaaay dad" look. A few days later my son did finally figure it out and texted me the name.
  9. As long as I've been alive the French have been fucking us. Taylor High School class of 1948 RIP, Rip. (BTW, you like black-eyed peas on New Year's Day? You can thank Rip's dad for that, or so they say.... LINK)
  10. Apparently I took drugs before I woke up this morning, because I'm seeing some crazy shit right now
  11. But ain't you worried about gettin' your no-rish-ment in New York?
  12. Nice, been eating those since I was a kid, my mom called them Coney Islands. Fill a baking pan with buns, insert weiners, cover in wolf brand, chopped onion and a Kraft single on each dog (folded in half and placed longwise so it can take the length), bake for 15 minutes or so. Glorious.
  13. Food King Food King Food King!
  14. My friends call me Lenny, but I got no friends.
  15. You forgot the follow up tweet.

I don't (just a fan of their music). I remember you mentioning him before, I even tried to look up his recording studio as my band is getting ready to record a new album and was checking out rates, but couldn't find anything up to date.

As with most Steve Hoffman threads, it tends to stray out of its lane at times, but shitloads of great stuff in here, tons of bands I never heard of, just gonna make one huge playlist off of these someday.. https://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/looking-for-recommendations-for-power-pop-from-1977-1983.369061/

I've posted their most popular song "Yellow Pills" many times, so I'll go a little deeper, still good:

Probably the last time I really spent a lot of time listening to "new" music, my son was around 10 at the time and just getting into music/listening to the radio, so I spent a lot of time listening to his music, some pretty good pop bands in the early 2000's... (This one I found via my kids through one of those Rathergood videos, the same guy that did the crazy Quizno's We Like the Subs commercials, Joel Veitch, he did one for this song with a bunch of screaming kittens...) Love Fountains of Wayne, a deep cut here but love the Boz Scaggs vibe...
  21. Smithsonian Channel has a series that started last week, Apollo's Moon Shot, watched the first two episodes last week, pretty good stuff as well.
  22. https://www.gearnews.com/david-gilmours-guitars-shatter-records-at-auction-in-new-york/ Jim Irsay the Indianapolis Colts owner picked up three items at the David Gilmour Guitar Collection auction at Christie’s New York salesroom. Turns out he is a huge Pink Floyd fan and so he bought not one, but three items at the auction. Spending a total of $5.245 million on the lot!' A 1969 black Fender Stratocaster known as “The Black Strat” for $3.975 million. A 1969 Martin D-35 acoustic guitar for $1.095 million. (used to write Wish You Were Here) The travel case used for “The Black Strat” for $175,000.
