  1. There were those of us who fought against this. But in the end, we could not keep up with the expense involved in the arms race, the space race, and the peace race. And at the same time, our people grumbled for more nylons and washing machines. Our Doomsday scheme cost us just a small fraction of what we'd been spending on defense in a single year. But the deciding factor was when we learned that your country was working along similar lines, and we were afraid of a Doomsday gap.
  2. Looks like somebody just saved the New York DA a pile of work.
  3. Went to visit the daughter in Seattle earlier this summer. Huge props to everyone who recommended Copper Creek, stopped there after a day of hiking at Rainier, good God, one of the best things I've ever had. (The other 3/4ths was still in the blender cup, damn...) Also had some time to kill before the flight home, so we took a little mini-Twin Peaks tour, drove up to Snoqualmie Falls to see the falls and the "Great Northern", then headed down to North Bend to check out Twede's (aka the Double R) and have the Dale Cooper special.
  4. I see he got the Alex Jones bumper sticker starter pack.
  5. A few lesser-knowns, but definitely got the yr sound goin' on...
  6. Cool. I heard his version of Little Drummer Boy years ago and it just hooked me, I love that style. Have this CD, I put on sometimes on a quiet Sunday morning sitting on the back porch, nice way to start the day.
  7. Was just coming to post some Kenny Burrell. Love me some Freddie Hubbard. And hey why not, jimmyjazz being a drum corps guy in the 80's, you probably heard this a time or two, right? (btw, saw the Cavvies last night in Mesquite, liked their show a lot, just curious, a lot of their shows seem to feature "manhood" or "brotherhood", intentional or just coincidence?)
  8. I liked Three K Mafia. Subtle...
  9. Yeah, these are all personal photos from my friend, very cool.
  10. Various - centrifuge, lunar landing training vehicle, vacuum chamber control room (guy standing in blue sweater is Jim Leblanc, who had a slight accident in testing back in 1966)
  11. Recovery practice in Gulf of Mexico, including Apollo 12 crew, and Neil Armstrong standing on deck
  12. A few more I snagged.. More frozen capsules
  13. They lasted 16 hours (testing for CO2 build-up and cold exposure).
  14. Hi-eeeeeeeeeeee. HI-EEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Hi-EEEEEEEEEEEEE1...... OK, BYE-EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! (tag line) EEEEEEEEEEEE
  15. Just found out a couple of days ago that a guy who sits in with my band occasionally was on the medical team at NASA, he's been posting lots of cool pics lately, going up in the Vomet Comet, an experiment where they froze an Apollo capsule solid with astronauts inside to see how long they would last on the off chance the capsule came back to Earth and landed in the Arctic/Antarctica, cool stuff.

Ha, this was my official, "Dad is old but trying to be cool" moment, I used to love this song back when it was out but never knew the name, and I tried to sing the rhythm to my son and his friend to see if they knew it, and of course got the "oh-kaaay dad" look. A few days later my son did finally figure it out and texted me the name.
  17. As long as I've been alive the French have been fucking us. Taylor High School class of 1948 RIP, Rip. (BTW, you like black-eyed peas on New Year's Day? You can thank Rip's dad for that, or so they say.... LINK)
  18. Apparently I took drugs before I woke up this morning, because I'm seeing some crazy shit right now
  19. But ain't you worried about gettin' your no-rish-ment in New York?
