  1. A&M cornerback recruiting: Inside my Crystal Ball predictions Brian Perroni - 9 hours ago Texas A&M has had a bit of trouble recruiting elite cornerback prospects lately but that should change in the class of 2019. -I am putting in a new Crystal Ball prediction for the Aggies with Houston Madison four-star cornerback Bobby Wolfe. I have never had a pick for him so this is not switching things. I have thought the one-time A&M commit would end up back in the fold but I have done a lot of checking around this week and that is the consensus among quite a few people as well. Wolfe plans to announce his commitment at the Opening Finals, which last from June 30-July 3 in Frisco. He recently took an official visit to Colorado and supposed to be in Arkansas this coming weekend. Several SEC schools are still pushing as well but the Aggies are in good shape there. -I have long had a Crystal Ball pick for Fort Bend Bush four-star corner Erick Young to A&M and I feel confident about that prediction as well. I have long thought it was an A&M/Oklahoma battle and now I believe the Aggies have the lead. He is planning more officials over the next month or so, to USC, Ohio State and likely LSU and Oklahoma. However, when he announces this summer, I think there's a very good chance he ends up an Aggie. -I had my pick on A&M for a long time with Aledo four-star cornerback Jeffery Carter but switched it to Oregon recently. What was long an A&M/OU battle has now turned into an Aggie/Duck shootout. If it were today, I think he would probably be Pac-12-bound. However, I am close to changing the pick back to A&M. If Wolfe and Young end up in the fold, you can bet they will be working on him hard. The same is already true of five-star safety commit Brian Williams. -I have never had a Crystal Ball pick for Spring Dekaney cornerback Marcus Banks but, if I did, it would be on Texas. His recent A&M official visit went really well and the gesture of having a crawfish boil for his mom was big. However, he has long been thought to be a heavy Longhorn lean. Once he makes his rescheduled official visit o Austin, we should know more. But, for now, I still believe it will be Texas. I have been very conservative with predictions in this class so I'm not ready to put in a true prediction just yet
  2. Would love to see it happen Sent from my SM-J700P using Tapatalk
  3. Brian Perroni 63733 posts 9 hours agoVIP Converse Judson defensive lineman DeMarvin Lealwas thought to be a heavy Texas lean for quite some time before committing on his official visit (and announcing a few days later) to Texas A&M last month. It completely took the Longhorns by surprise. However, A&M and especially Tim Brewster had been working on him for some time. If you’ll remember, Brewster had tweeted a few weeks prior that he knew who the next Myles Garrett would be in Aggieland. It was assumed he was talking about Braedon Mowry as the four-star end had an announcement scheduled soon after. However, it was about Leal as Brewster had built a strong relationship with both Leal and his family. Leal made an official visit to Texas this past weekend. Obviously, that’s something A&M would prefer not happen. However, it did not take them by surprise and there has never been a Jimbo Fisher ‘no-visit policy.’ The trip to Austin went well from all accounts but A&M is still confident in getting Leal’s signature when all is said and done. They absolutely love him and consider him even better than his current ranking as the No. 74 player in the nation. The entire staff is involved in his recruitment. Brewster and Terry Price were recently at his school for a 6 a.m. practice. Leal is also likely going to take an Alabama official visit at some point as well. Again, it is something the Aggies would prefer he not do, but they still feel confident he will sign with A&M at the end of the day. Leal has never gone to camps and doesn’t do a ton of ‘recruiting’ events so he doesn’t know a bunch of other prospects. There aren’t a bunch of guys in his ear about either school, to be honest. But he does have a great relationship with the Aggie staff and A&M is going to work incredibly hard to hold on to him. I believe he will remain an Aggie commit and sign in December

  6. From Ousucks 247 Bru McCoy is one of the nation’s elite prospects, rated No. 17 in the 247Sports Composite and No. 4 by 247Sports. McCoy is a dominant player on both sides of the ball and is a high level prospect at receiver and linebacker. He has a rare combination of size, toughness and athleticism and always competes at a high level as well. McCoy took a visit to Texas over the weekend and the Horns made a big impression on him. “The trip was great, it definitely met and even exceeded my expectations,” McCoy said. “The coaches were great with me and seemed very genuine. They kept it real and were upfront and honest with me. With some coaches, you can kind of tell they're just recruiting you, but the Texas staff seemed very genuine. “Coach Herman is definitely a player’s coach and has a lot of energy. He’s the type of guy I would like to play for. All the coaches did a good job of talking about the future of the program, where things are at and where they want to take it. I was very impressed with everything I saw.” McCoy said the staff really went all out and even showed his highlight tape on the jumbotron inside the football stadium. “That was pretty crazy,” McCoy said. “They made everything pretty special for me and were very specific in how they want to use me. I met with coach Meekins (WR coach) and he talked about their philosophy and how they utilize their receivers. They want me as an X in their offense and feel I would fit in really well. “Then I met with the defensive coaches and coach Orlando (DC) said they want me to be a designated pass rusher on 3rd down or obvious passing situations. They run a 3-4 scheme that is similar to what we do at Mater Dei where I rush off the edge more so then drop in to coverage. “A lot of schools have told me they want me to play both ways and like me as an athlete but no one has laid it out like that for me the way they did. So I would be a full time receiver on offense and a pass rush specialist on defense and I think that fits my skill set pretty well.” The city of Austin and the campus in general all made a positive impression as well. “Austin is a beautiful city, I wasn’t expecting all that,” McCoy said. “It’s a pretty special place and you can tell coach Herman has things going in the right direction. “They showed me who’s staying and who’s leaving and there’s a lot of opportunity there. The coaches didn’t promise anything but said if you have to come in and put in the work, you'll play. Basically, you get out what you put in and that works for me.” McCoy said he’ll definitely be back for an official visit as well. “The two schools I know I’ll officially visit are Texas and USC,” McCoy said. “I’m going to be taking an unofficial visit to Oklahoma as well and if things go as expected, I’ll be taking an official there too. “I was supposed to visit OU over Spring Break but I had hernia surgery and had to move it. I was going to visit OU and Texas back to back at that time but had to move those around. I don’t have any official dates yet but I know want to visit Texas when they host USC, the atmosphere should be insane for that one. “The USC visit will likely be at the end of the season, that’s usually when they like to have their big visit weekends. As for the OU trip, I want to talk with Bookie (Brendan Radley-Hiles) and see what he thinks is best. He’s a smart guy and will know when a good weekend will be.” McCoy said he’s still planning to make his decision at the All-American Game in San Antonio in January. “I want to try and take all five of my trips if I can,” McCoy said. “The other schools I’m talking with right now are Florida State, Washington, Oregon and UCLA. I like coach Taggart (FSU head coach) a lot, he was recruiting me hard at Oregon so we have a good relationship. “I really like the Washington staff a lot and how they recruit. Coach Petersen personally hits me up a lot and I'm comfortable with the staff. Oregon has been on me hard for awhile as well and I have some teammates going there with Keyon (Ware Hudson) and Mase (Funa). I just recently started talking more with UCLA and I think Chip Kelly is a very good coach and will have them going in the right direction
  7. Katy (Texas) Taylor High School 3-star offensive lineman Andrew Coker has watched his popularity rise each day. Texas was the latest Power 5 school to offer him on Wednesday. And while he is grateful for every offer, particularly the latest offer from the school he called his "childhood favorite," Coker said his mindset hasn't changed with where he is on recruiting. "That doesn't change my place with A&M, TCU and Georgia," Coker said, referring to three schools that currently are high on his list. Coker's process is far from over, but he said the Texas offer was a big offer. The good news for Texas A&M and head coach Jimbo Fisher is that the 6-foot-7, 310-pound offensive tackle -- who was offered by the Aggies on his unofficial visit on April 14 -- is still very interested in wearing Aggie maroon in college. His presence would be welcomed, as Texas A&M is still looking for an offensive lineman pledge. The Aggies have the nation's No. 3 recruiting class, per the 247Sports recruiting composite, but all of the pledges are either skill-position players or defensive linemen. Coker is being recruited by offensive line coach Jim Turner. Last month, Coker spoke highly about his unofficial to Texas A&M. He was a part of a large group of athletes who were in attendance for the Maroon & White Game. He also was one of 48,000-plus at Kyle Field. "The atmosphere there was crazy, especially for a spring game," Coker told GigEm247. "You don't usually see that many people there for a spring game." After picking up the Texas A&M offer, Coker said: "This is one of the offers I've spent my high school career working towards. I think the programs will do big things under a high-quality coach like Coach Fisher." An all-district right tackle for Katy Taylor, Coker has 14 reported offers. He is ranked the nation's No. 48 offensive tackle and No. 491 player overall in the 2019 class, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite. Coker currently has nine 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions, and eight of them point in Texas A&M's favor. Additionally, all eight of those predictions came last month
  8. A&M offer has 4-star WR Smith considering slowing process down Brian Perroni - 26 minutes ago VIP 4 (Photo: Chris Trevino, 247Sports) Scottsdale (Ariz.) Notre Dame wide receiver Jake Smith is a serious playmaker with the ball in his hands. As a junior, the 6-foot-1, 189-pound four-star prospect became the first player in the state since former Texas A&M wide receiver Christian Kirk to have 1,000 yards both rushing and receiving. Smith now has something else in common with Kirk as the Aggies recently offered him. This week, Tim Brewster made the trip out to Arizona to see Smith in person. "He came out to visit me [Monday]," Smith said. "He came to my school and then came to my lacrosse practice for a little bit. He told me he had come out to just see me." It was only recently that Smith was offered by the Aggies but he has become a priority recruit for them. "Kevin Sumlin followed on Twitter when he was the head coach at A&M. I thought they might offer me but then he got fired, obviously," Smith said. "Nothing happened for a few months but I was still following some of their recruiting support guys. "A few weeks ago, one of the recruiting guys told me to give coach Brewster a call. Before I could even do it, coach Brewster texted me and said to give him a call. I called him and he said, 'Hey, I know we're late but we just watched your film and we love it and we want to offer you.' That's just kind of how it happened with them." Smith was close to finishing the recruiting process before the A&M interest and he says the Aggies could make things more difficult on him. "I'm honestly not sure," he said as to if A&M had a legitimate shot with him. "I'm really, really debating on officially visiting there. It's intriguing me a lot. I thought I was close to done but they're intriguing to me so I'm thinking about visiting there. I would say they do have a shot. "They want me to come out on an official. They told me I could come out at any point. They said I could come today if I wanted." As far as officials, Smith has one lined up to a Pac-12 program and will take another to a Lone Star State school, where he also attended the spring game two weekends ago. "Right now I have one official set up to USC in late June," he said. "Other than that, I'm not sure when, but I know I'm going to take one to the University of Texas. But, other than that, unless I schedule A&M, I don't have any others right now." Smith says he grew up 'idolizing' Kirk as the former five-star prospect was the Arizona Gatorade Player of the Year in the class of 2015. "I haven't met him but I grew up watching him. He was my idol," Smith said. "He actually tweeted at me once so that was pretty cool for me. He watched our state championship and shouted me out and said, 'Hey, this kid's the real deal,' so that was really cool for me. He's kind of who I wanted to be and who I wanted my game to be like. I wanted to be like Christian Kirk." Smith caught 33 passes for 1,055 yards and 15 touchdowns as a junior, averaging over 30 yards per reception. He also ran for 1,135 yards and 11 more scores, averaging close to 10 yards per carry. As a returner, he brought back both a kickoff and a punt for touchdowns
  9. This past weekend, Texas A&M hosted only one official visitor - Spring Dekaney cornerback Marcus Banks. Because he was the only one on campus, the 6-foot, 170-pound defender was able to spend a lot of time with the Aggie coaches. "Everywhere I went, Jimbo Fisher was there," Banks said of the A&M head coach. "That was really cool. We got a lot of attention since there weren't any other visitors. They really let me know that they wanted me. It was Coach Fisher, Coach (Mike) Elko and Coach Mo (Maurice Linguist) pretty much everywhere we went. I had all of their attention." Banks was excited about the food heading into the trip and he said it did not disappoint. "Oh my goodness, the food was incredible," he said. "We had food like everywhere we turned. We had lobster, blue crab and a whole bunch of other really good food. I've never eaten so well." One meal in particular, though, was the highlight of the trip for Banks. "The best part of the trip, we had gone up to a private area by Kyle Field and they had a private crawfish boil set up for us," he said. "They knew my mom loves crawfish so they had surprised us with that. I'm guessing it was coach Elko's idea. It was really cool that they did that special just for her." Banks was also able to hang out with some players while on campus. The safety KC (Keldrick Carper), he was my host," Banks said. "His roommate was Anthony Hines and we all hung out a lot. It was nice to see how the players actually lived and what day-to-day life would be like." Banks' next visit is to Texas this coming weekend. "I just want to enjoy my time up there," he said. "I want to see the side of things you don't get to see on an unofficial visit. You only have so much time to see things on an unofficial so I want to see what the players' everyday life is like. "I know my host is going to be Caden Sterns so I want to get to hang out with him and bond with the other players as well." Banks has not set up any other officials but that could change soon. "I just talked to coach (Corey) Raymond and coach (Bill) Busch from LSU," he said on Monday evening. "We talked about me getting up there for my official visit. It's going to likely be in early June. I'm supposed to call them back tomorrow and we'll probably set the exact date." For now, though, Banks just wants to enjoy the process and do all the research he can. "A&M helped themselves on the visit, they helped themselves a lot," he said. "They're up there in my top group. But I'm taking it slow and taking all my officials and I'll have a decision before the season starts
  10. Notre Dame continues its push for NaNa Osafo-Mensah Tom Loy - 4 hours agoVIP18 When trying to identify the most important target on the defensive side of the ball for Notre Dame, it's not too difficult to figure out. Fort Worth (Texas) Nolan Catholic four-star defensive end NaNa Osafo-Mensah isn't just a want for the Fighting Irish, he's a need. So, what's the latest? According to the 6-4, 227-pounder, defensive line coach Mike Elston and defensive coordinator Clark Lea will be at Nolan Catholic high school on Thursday to check in with the top pass-rusher target. This is a huge visit, as he heads to Texas next weekend (May 4) for a final trip before making his commitment announcement next month. The Fighting Irish coaching staff is going toe to toe with Texas and a decision is coming on May 19. These are his two finalists and he's quickly closing in on a commitment. Will he end up with the Irish or stay home and play for the Longhorns? Notre Dame crushed his recent official visit to South Bend. From all accounts, the Irish hold the edge heading into his final offiical visit to Texas. My 247Sports Crystal Ball remains on the Fighting Irish. Per the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Osafo-Mensah is the No. 118 overall player in the country, No. 7 weak-side defensive end nationally and No. 17 prospect in Texas from the 2019 class Sent from my LGLS755 using Tapatalk
  11. Ohio State 247 on Wilson Bill Kurelic 69055 posts 65 seconds agoVIP After making an official visit to Ohio State the weekend of April 14, Austin (Texas) Lake Travis wide receiver Garrett Wilson made an official visit to Texas this past weekend. “It went really well. It was a good visit,” Wilson told Texas and Alabama recruiting insider Hank South. “They think I can be a legend in Austin and I’m already here.” On Sunday evening after completing the Texas visit, Wilson told Bucknuts he was pushing back his decision and announcement until early May. It could get moved back up slightly. “Maybe this weekend,” Wilson said when South asked him when he would decide. “Whenever I feel like I’m 100% with it, that’s when it’s going to come. I’m probably going to make a decision one of these upcoming weeks.” The most likely scenario has Wilson announcing within the next week. Wilson also talked about what it would be like to be a Buckeye. “If I go there I know what I’m getting into,” Wilson said. “I know I’m going to be competing for a national championship right away. That’s probably one of the biggest things for me about Ohio State.” South asked will who is recruiting him hardest between Ohio State and Texas. “It’s really been coach (Zach) Smith, coach (Ryan) Day and coach (Urban) Meyer,” Wilson said. “I’ve been talking to all three of them probably just about every day, every other day. They’ve been on top of it.” On Sunday evening Bucknuts posted the Buckeyes would be out to see Wilson again on Tuesday, and they were there for his practice according to South. The 6-foot-0 and 185-pound Wilson is a 5-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite. He is the country’s No. 29 overall prospect, the No. 5 wide receiver, and the No. 4 prospect in Texas. Thanks to Alabama and Texas recruiting insider Hank South for interviewing Wilson for this article Sent from my LGLS755 using Tapatalk
  12. Brian Perroni 63062 posts Texas A&M now has 11 commitments and the nation’s No. 2 overall class. However, the Aggies are still predicted to land quite a few more very highly-ranked prospects. Here is a look at where things stand with every position at the moment. QUARTERBACK A&M basically has two outstanding offers at the position – Grant Gunnell and Jayden Daniels. Gunnell was at Arizona this past weekend and will be at Ohio State this coming weekend. A&M is not out of it but, right now, the main three schools would be Oklahoma State, Oregon and Ohio State. Daniels has offers from all over but it wouldn’t be surprising to see him schedule a visit to A&M. OC and QB coach Darrell Dickey is on the road doing evals now that the spring evaluation period has begun. The Aggies have been watching San Antonio Jay’s Jacob Zeno closely and he would be very interested if offered. Baylor is the leader at the moment. Rockwall QB Jacob Clark has not heard from A&M yet but is another player that would be very interested. A&M also likes the tape of Coltin Clack from Texas High and plans to see him throw as he is coming off a shoulder injury. RUNNING BACK A&M signed four players in 2018 that it has pegged for the position but the Aggies are still after several guys in the 2019 class. A&M legacy Isaiah Spiller recently decommitted from Oklahoma, though the state’s top back is still considering the Sooners. However, he has always liked A&M and has been in contact with the new staff ever since they arrived. There’s a good chance he ends up on the commitment list at some point, though Oklahoma should not be counted out. The question would then become whether the Aggies would take two pure running backs. Katy four-star Deondrick Glass is not in any hurry but he has shown interest in A&M, having attended the Super Bowl junior day. Like most Katy prospects, he will likely wait until very late to make a decision. Amarillo Tascosa’s King Doerue is another player that A&M likes a lot and he made it back to campus again for the spring game. I think he will see a ton more offers during the spring eval period. Right now, he really likes both A&M and Texas Tech. Doerue’s school is not a recruiting hotbed and he is still very new to the process so he is not in a hurry to make a decision either. A&M has also offered Detroit Cass Tech four-star athlete Jaren Mangham as a running back, though he could potentially play linebacker. Though his mom ran track for A&M and he recently made an unofficial visit, Michigan State will be tough to beat. WIDE RECEIVER The Aggies now have three commitments in Kam Brown, Kenyon Jackson and Chase Lane. That makes numbers a bit tight going forward. However, there is still room. A&M has made a ton of offers to out-of-state burners at the position so you can bet that Dameyune Craigwould love to add more speed to the equation. The in-state targets, though, are some bigger wideouts. A&M is after Fort Worth Southwest’s Nnamdi Adim-Madumere, Austin Bowie’s Elijah Higgins and West Mesquite’s Dylan Wright with Adim-Madumere being the best shot for the Aggies of the bunch. A&M has let the targets know they still want a “big, fast receiver” and all three fit that mold of solid speed for a bigger wideout. TIGHT END A&M picked up its top overall target at the position last week in Brock’s Baylor Cupp. The Aggies absolutely love him and feel he’s the No. 1 tight end in the country. A&M will continue recruiting others as well with Dickinson’s Jalen Wydermyer being the guy they are high on. He was in Aggieland for the spring game and is the teammate of 2018 wide receiver signee Montel Parker. He is also high on Georgia, LSU and Miami and will likely take official visits to all four places before making a decision. OFFENSIVE LINE A&M does not have any commitments on the line for the class of 2019 just yet but the Aggies look like they could put together a truly special class at the position. A&M is still the favorite for five-star Atascocita tackle Kenyon Green, the state’s top-ranked overall player. He has come close to shutting things down a couple times and will likely make a summer decision. The Aggies are also in good shape with Houston North Forest four-star tackle Javonne Shepherd, though Texas and Alabama have both piqued his interest as well. Alabama could be a real threat but I don’t think he goes that far in the end. The Tide are very high on him, though. Shepherd had planned to make a June decision but does not have a time frame now. Some were a bit surprised when Katy Taylor’s Andrew Coker did not immediately commit when offered at the spring game. He does plan to make a decision next month, though. This one is an A&M/TCU battle. The Frogs shouldn’t be counted out but the Aggies have a ton going for them and have landed a ton of players at his school as of late. A&M also offered Hallsville tackle Blake Trainor at the spring game and he is a take as well. The 6-foot-7, 280-pound junior holds a half-dozen offers but the Aggies are his only Power Five one. However, his coach expects a ton more to come in this spring. Trainor does not seem close to committing anywhere at this point. Mammoth Wellington tackle Trevor Robersonofficially visited earlier this month and did the same to Arkansas two weekends ago. This will be an A&M, Arkansas and Tech battle with a lot of people thinking he will stay close to home and play for the Red Raiders. Crandall four-star Branson Bragg is the top interior target and was at the Aggie spring game. However, Texas and Stanford are both also in good shape with him and it will be a bit of an uphill battle. The Aggies hosted a pair of Florida teammates in Adrian Medley and Hunter Rayburn but Clemson and Florida, respectively, will be tough to beat for the duo. Florida State also recently offered Rayburn so both have Seminole offers as well. DEFENSIVE LINE A&M picked up what some consider to be the state’s top prospect last week in DeMarvin Leal from Converse Judson. The 6-foot-4, 280-pound junior will likely be a tackle but is being recruited as an end and wants to at least start out there. The Aggies also have a commitment from a good pass-rusher in Katy Taylor four-star end Braedon Mowry and one of the state’s top tackles in four-star Josh Ellison of A&M Consolidated. Katy Mayde Creek defensive end Marcus Stripling is high on the Aggies and it seems like only a matter of time before the 6-foot-3, 265-pound four-star defender commits. Oklahoma is the main competition at the moment. Staying in Katy ISD, Seven Lakes high three-star defensive end David Ugwoegbu is also high on the Aggies. An intriguing and a bit raw prospect, the 6-foot-5, 215-pound junior has an impressive offer list due to his athleticism. He couldn’t make the spring game because of work so he drove up for an Aggie practice earlier in the week. At end, Brooklyn four-star Adisa Isaac officially visited the spring game weekend but Penn State is going to be tough to beat for him. The Aggies also have a pair of offers out to Louisiana prospects Myron Warrenand Earl Barquet with both having made unofficial visits this spring. At tackle, the Aggies are in a good spot with national top-100 prospect Jaquaze Sorrells out of Florida. He made his way to A&M on an unofficial visit this spring and will likely be back on an official at some point. It is going to be tough to pull such a highly-ranked player from a state that every school in the country recruits but Sorrells is very interested in the Aggies. The nation’s No. 4 overall prospect, Ishmael Sopsherout of Louisiana, visited for the spring game but he is likely headed to either LSU or Alabama. Gio Paez out of North Carolina is very interested in A&M, though, and still plans to unofficially visit soon. LINEBACKER This position is the biggest question mark right now. Dayton’s RJ Orebo is committed but the 6-foot-6, 215-pound junior could grow into a defensive end. The top in-state target is four-star David Gbenda of Katy Cinco Ranch. The Aggies have done well in Katy ISD recently and Gbenda has A&M in his top three, along with Texas and TCU. Most have him pegged as an eventual Texas commit but he is honestly still very open. He will take his officials during the season and hopes to have a decision made by the early signing period. A&M saw Atascocita’s Tyrone Brown commit to Baylor last week but, with Green also being at the school, they will still see him plenty of times. The Aggies are going to have to look out of state, though. Five-star Brandon Smith from Virginia officially visited this past weekend but he does not seem likely to end up an Aggie. LSU commit Zach Edwards from Mississippi has talked about unofficially visited at some point but he likely sticks with the Tigers. The main out-of-state prospects that have shown reciprocal interest are Spencer Lytle of California, Kane Patterson of Tennessee and junior college prospect Lakia Henry, who has A&M in his top five. DEFENSIVE BACK A&M has the state’s top two safeties committed in five-star Brian Williams and four-star Demani Richardson and is likely done at that spot. That leaves cornerback. The Aggies had a trio of four-stars – Houston Madison’s Bobby Wolfe, Fort Bend Bush’s Erick Young and Aledo’s Jeffery Carter – in for official visits on the spring game weekend. Wolfe is a one-time Aggie pledge and a lot of people think he will end up back in the fold when all is said and done. Young looks to be a battle between A&M and Oklahoma. The Sooners likely had the edge going into the visit but it is pretty even now. He and Wolfe had long said they planned to play together but they have both backed off that lately and say they’ll make their own decisions. Prior to an unofficial visit to Oregon this past weekend, Carter was an A&M/OU battle with the Aggies holding the lead. The Ducks have made things interesting and he publicly said they were his leader. However, it does not seem likely he heads that far from home, even if he does surprise a bit and make a commitment. Carter plans to announce his top group tomorrow but has no decision date set. In the long run, A&M is still in good shape. Spring Dekaney’s Marcus Banks has an official visit planned for this coming weekend, two weeks after also making it to the spring game. However, he also has an official to Texas for the weekend after and the Longhorns have long felt very good about landing him. Sent from my LGLS755 using Tapatalk
  13. Just watched Hamms recruiting chat on his FB page. Bullet points 1. Big things are in store for aggy scoop, Hamm possibly shutting his FB down and moving to new board. 2. Said Marquez Beason was enamored with Illinois and its all about the money. 3. The Gunnell effect will sign with aggy. 4. Fisher will close the borders. Fisher will get everybody he wants, the rest of the schools will be fighting for what's left. 5. Said aggy could flip Whittington, if the really wanted him. Sent from my LGLS755 using Tapatalk
  14. Four-stars Shepherd and Demas take in Texas A&M, Texas Brian Perroni - Though spring football is over, Texas A&M is still playing host to unofficial visitors. On Friday, the Aggies had two of its top targets on campus in Houston North Forest teammates Javonne Shepherd and Demond Demas. Shephard, a four-star class of 2019 offensive tackle, said he and Demas, a national top-50 wide receiver in the class of 2020, decided to make the short trip to College Station. "It was something we had planned for a little while," the 6-foot-6, 319-pound Shepherd said. "We wanted to go up there and just hang out. It was that long of a visit but we got to talk to the coaches." Shepherd has built a good relationship with A&M offensive line coach Jim Turner. "Coach Turner, I got to talk to him while I was there," he said. "I like talking to him. We didn't talk about anything too serious. We were just catching up. I feel comfortable up there." A day after the trip to Aggieland, Shepherd and Demas made it to Austin to check out the Texas spring game. "It was good," Shepherd said. "I got a chance to watch the offensive line really closely. We were in the end zone so we could see everything going on. I like the way their line plays. I could see myself fitting in there." Shepherd says he spoke with both schools about setting up official visits but he does not have anything penciled in just yet. However, he knows which programs will receive his five allotted visits. "We talked about them but I don't know when I'm going to take them," he said of his officials. "I don't know if they will be this summer or in the fall. I'm going to visit UT, A&M, Alabama, LSU and Ole Miss. Those are the five schools I'm going to visit." As for his commitment timeline, Shepherd has pushed it back. "At first, it was going to be in June," he said. "I switched it, though. I don't know when I am going to commit now. I'm just being really patient with the whole process." The Crystal Ball for Shepherd has four of six predictions for A&M and one for Texas. Demas' Crystal Ball has two predictions for A&M and one for Texas Sent from my SM-J700P using Tapatalk

  18. The aggy propaganda machine hard at work In the 2018 recruiting class, Texas and head coach Tom Herman had a very good showing. The Longhorns had the No. 3-ranked class in the country and signed six of the top seven-rated When Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher arrived in Aggieland, he was behind the eight ball a bit, especially with the first-ever Early Signing Period. The Aggies closed well but, with most of the elite in-state prospects, he was simply too late on the scene. The class of 2019 was seen as the true battleground class. Fisher and Co. would have an entire year to build relationships and recruit them. So far, things are going a lot differently for the Aggies with the class. A&M just landed a huge commitment from who some consider to be the top overall prospect in the state, Converse Judson defensive lineman DeMarvin Leal. The 6-foot-4, 280-pound four-star was arguably the top defensive prospect on the board for both A&M and Texas. The Longhorns thought they had him all but locked down headed into this past weekend's official visit to Aggieland. All that obviously changed. A&M assistant coach Tim Brewster, known as one of the top recruiters in the nation, made Leal one of his primary targets. He built a relationship with the family and played a huge role in the Aggies landing him. Interestingly, Brewster formerly coached at Texas and was credited with landing Vince Young after the five-star quarterback had basically eliminated the Longhorns from contention. Fisher has built a staff of solid recruiters and the Aggies have shown they are not going to back down vs. Texas. Leal is the second prospect in a week - tight end Baylor Cupp being the other - that was a head-to-head victory for A&M over Texas. Five-star safety Brian Williams and four-star safety Demani Richardson were two players that Texas felt good about at one point, until each ended up on the Aggie commitment list. Though neither truly showed a ton of interest, wide receiver Kam Brown and defensive end Braedon Mowry both had Texas offers as well. Going forward, there are a lot more head-to-head battles in the class as well. Texas is after five-star offensive tackle Kenyon Green as well as four-star Javonne Shepherd. Both have the majority of their Crystal Ball predictions for A&M. Four-star offensive guard Branson Bragg is also shaping up to be a battle between the two schools, though Stanford is also making noise. Katy Mayde Creek four-star defensive end Marcus Stripling has both schools in his top group as do Katy Cinco Ranch four-star linebacker David Gbenda, Spring Dekaney four-star cornerback Marcus Banks and Aledo four-star cornerback Jeffery Carter. In fact, Carter had once named the Longhorns as his leader but now the Crystal Ball is trending toward the Aggies. Four-star cornerbacks Erick Young and Bobby Wolfe were once big Texas targets but neither included the Longhorns in their top group. A&M is not going to win all the head-to-head battles against Texas this year but the Aggies are likely to take many of them. That represents a major change from the 2018 class and could be a sign of things to come as Fisher has brought a new excitement level to College Station. Sent from my SM-J700P using Tapatalk
