  5. Aggie Picnic: Lots of big names set for A&M this weekend VIP ByBRIAN PERRONI 39 minutes ago Share 2 Comments (Photo: Greg Powers, 247Sports) Texas A&M is holding a big recruiting event this coming weekend with a picnic on Saturday. The Aggies are expecting quite a few top prospects in town. We will add to this list throughout the week as we confirm more names but these are the ones we have confirmed so far. In addition, almost all of the current commits are expected as well. OFFICIAL VISITORS -A&M will be hosting a pair of offensive linemen from Pensacola, Fla., this weekend on official visits in Adrian Medley and Hunter Rayburn. This is the first official visit for both and they have said they'd like to play together at the next level. They are both early enrollees and have seen a ton of offers come in as of late, especially Rayburn. Despite them being from out of state, A&M is in very good shape with both and some in Florida believe there's a good chance they eventually end up as Aggies. CLASS OF 2019 -Katy Cinco Ranch LB David Gbenda:The state's top inside linebacker prospect is a lot higher on A&M than most think and he will be in town on Saturday. He still plans to use his official visits in the fall before making a decision but the Aggies are in good shape. -Houston Madison CB Bobby Wolfe:The one-time Aggie pledge still plans to announce a commitment sometime in the next month or so. He canceled an official visit to Florida last weekend and it looks good for the Aggies to get him back in the boat when he does announce again. -Fort Bend Bush CB Erick Young: Young says he 'likely' will be there. He has an announcement date of July 4 and, despite planning to take officials to USC and Ohio State later this month, there are a lot of expectations that he will be an Aggie. -Atlanta (Ga.) Lovett LB Nick Jackson:The 6-foot-2, 217-pound defender was offered by A&M in late April and wanted to check out the Aggies. He will get his chance this weekend as he makes his way to College Station. -Dickinson TE Jalen Wydermyer: A&M has one tight end committed but the Aggies are still in talks with Wydermyer as well. He has been a hot prospect as of late, picking up quite a few big offers, but he says he will likely be in Aggieland this weekend. He does not plan to announced anytime soon. -Buford (Ga.) Lanier QB Zach Calzada:Fresh of the Elite 11 finals, Calzada is visiting UCLA, North Carolina and A&M this week. He will be in town on Friday and Saturday and the Aggies want to see him throw in person at camp. -Horn Lake (Miss.) LB Nakobe Dean:The five-star prospect told 247Sports that he will 'supposedly' be taking an unofficial to A&M this weekend. What exactly he meant by the word 'supposedly,' he said he meant that he was not 100-percent sure if he was visiting just yet. A&M has a very legitimate shot at the nation's No. 27 overall prospect, though, even if he does not make it this coming weekend. CLASS OF 2020 -North Shore RB Zachary Evans: The state's top prospect in the class of 2020, the five-star running back has been to College Station a number of times. He will be back again and is the best hope of A&M breaking the North Shore drought that dates back to the class of 2000. -Fort Bend Austin WR Troy Omeire:A&M was the first to offer the four-star receiver and he remains very high on the Aggies. He will be in town again this weekend. -Fort Bend Austin OL Kendal Septs:Septs, who is teammates with Omeire, was offered by the Aggies on an unofficial visit back in March. He is a 'maybe' for this weekend at this point. CAN'T MAKE IT -Spring Dekaney cornerback Marcus Banks is planning to announce in about a month and it's a good bet that A&M is where he will land but he has an official visit to LSU set for this weekend. -Houston North Forest offensive tackle Javonne Shepherd has long had plans this weekend so will likely not be able to make it. He plans to visit Texas on Tuesday but a decision from him is not coming in the near future. He will be back to A&M at some point soon. -Fort Worth Southwest jumbo wide receiver Nnamdi Adim-Madumere will be headed to Alabama for camp. The same is true of 2021 Houston Episcopal offensive tackle Donovan Jackson. -Katy Seven Lakes DE/LB David Ugwoegbu will not be able to make it and does not have any visits anywhere coming up at this point. 2COMMENTS -Cibolo Steele four-star class of 2020 cornerback Jaylon Jones, who was recently offered by A&M, says he has to take the ACT on Saturday so will not be able to be there. He will, however, be in Aggieland on Friday instead, though. New Caney four-star cornerback Dwight McGlothern also has the ACT on Saturday. -Class of 2021 Katy Taylor offensive tackle Hayden Conner has a family funeral to attend, so he will no longer be able to make it.
  6. Perroni Texas A&M is up to the No. 2 recruiting class in the country after the addition of the state's top-ranked prospect, five-star offensive tackle Kenyon Green, over the weekend. The Aggies could be in line to land several more commitments soon as well. Fort Bend Bush cornerback Erick Young has officially set a commitment date of July 4. The nation's No. 102 overall prospect has long been very high on A&M and has used his lone official visit so far to Aggieland. Currently, he has ones scheduled to Ohio State and USC for later this month, but a lot of people expect him to announce for A&M. Houston Madison's Bobby Wolfe and Spring Dekaney's Marcus Banks are both set to announce around that same time as well. A&M is the Crystal Ball leader for all three and there's a good chance the Aggies could add a trio of very, very good cornerbacks all within a few days of each other
  7. 10 QBs Aggies will watch from the Elite 11 Finals ByDAMON SAYLES 12 minutes ago Share 0 Comments Jayden Daniels (Photo: Gerard Martinez, 247Sports) The Elite 11 Finals kicks off today and runs through Sunday in Redondo Beach, California. The annual event features some of the best high school quarterbacks in the nation receiving one-on-one instruction and participating in multiple competitions for the right to be considered a member of one of the most prestigious clubs for high school signal-callers. The event features 24 quarterbacks from around the country, and they will endure a three-span of on-field drills, as well as off-field instruction. Of those 24 athletes, several are players who Texas A&M has been in contact with and is keeping an eye on throughout the 2019 recruiting cycle. Here are 10 players to watch between today and Sunday. All names are listed in alphabetical order. Zach Calzada Hometown/school: Buford, Georgia/Lanier HS Height, weight: 6-foot-3, 195 pounds 247Sports rank: No. 13 pro-style QB, No. 411 player overall 247Sports Composite rank: No. 19 pro-style QB, No. 615 player overall Commitment status: Uncommitted Calzada is a 3-star prospect with 39 reported offers. Texas A&M offered him on May 17 and recently told GigEm247 he is interested in making a visit to the campus sometime in June. Calzada threw for 1,706 yards and 15 touchdowns as a junior. North Carolina State is a team to watch in his process, as is Northwestern. Jayden Daniels Hometown/school: San Bernadino, California/Cajon HS Height, weight: 6-foot-3, 190 pounds 247Sports rank: No. 1 dual-threat QB, No. 111 player overall 247Sports Composite rank: No. 2 dual-threat QB, No. 78 player overall Commitment status: Uncommitted Daniels put up monster numbers as a junior, and he's expected to put up even bigger numbers for his senior year. Daniels threw for 5,139 yards and 62 touchdowns and also rushed for 1,292 yards and 15 scores. He was offered by Texas A&M on April 5, but UCLA and USC are the schools believed to be the Aggies' biggest competition. Ty Evans Hometown/school: Monument, Colorado/Palmer Ridge HS Height, weight: 6-foot-2, 192 247Sports rank: No. 12 pro-style QB, No. 369 player overall 247Sports Composite rank: No. 17 pro-style QB, No. 423 player overall Commitment status: Committed to Colorado Evans committed to Arkansas as a sophomore but decommitted in November. He then committed to Colorado in January and has said he's solid with his pledge. Evans, however, is still a prime target for Texas A&M and several other schools, including Michigan and Ole Miss. Evans threw for 3,627 yards and 42 touchdowns as a junior. He was offered by Texas A&M on Feb. 16. Grant Gunnell Hometown/school: Houston/St. Pius X HS Height, weight: 6-foot-6, 222 pounds 247Sports rank: No. 2 pro-style QB, No. 109 player overall 247Sports Composite rank: No. 3 pro-style QB, No. 97 player overall Commitment status: Uncommitted Few quarterbacks have thrown for as many yards as Gunnell in a three-year span. He has 11,356 passing yards and 142 touchdowns under his belt, including 4,936 yards and 61 touchdowns his junior year. A one-time Texas A&M commit, Gunnell is thought to be leaning toward Arizona and joining former Aggie head coach Kevin Sumlin-- who he originally committed to. Ryan Hilinski Hometown/school: Orange, California/Orange Lutheran HS Height, weight: 6-foot-4, 222 pounds 247Sports rank: No. 6 pro-style QB, No. 188 player overall 247Sports Composite rank: No. 6 pro-style QB, No. 165 player overall Commitment status: Committed to South Carolina Hilinski has all the tools -- good size, a strong arm and a will to win -- to be a special quarterback at the college level. He threw for 3,749 yards and 33 touchdowns, and he completed 70 percent of his passes while throwing only six interceptions. Hilinski committed to South Carolina on April 4 but added a Texas A&M offer on March 25. Michael Johnson Jr. Hometown/school: Eugene, Oregon/Sheldon HS Height, weight: 6-foot-2.5/192 pounds 247Sports rank: No. 13 dual-threat QB, No. 672 player overall 247Sports Composite rank: No. 4 dual-threat QB, No. 199 player overall Commitment status: Uncommitted Johnson on May 3 announced a top seven of North Carolina State, Arizona State, Nebraska, LSU, Oregon, Penn State and Miami. Four days later, he was offered by Texas A&M and has since spoken highly about Jimbo Fisher and receivers coach Dameyune Craig. In three high school seasons, Johnson has thrown for 5,565 yards and 69 touchdowns and has rushed for 1,878 yards and 28 scores. Roschon Johnson Hometown/school: Port Neches, Texas/Port Neches-Groves HS Height, weight: 6-foot-1, 192 pounds 247Sports rank: No. 7 dual-threat QB/No. 415 player overall 247Sports Composite rank: No. 5 dual-threat QB/No. 200 player overall Commitment status: Committed to Texas Johnson is believed to be a firm commit to Texas. The Aggies offered on Dec. 1, 2016, during the stint of the old coaching staff. Johnson's ability to beat you with his legs is just as imposing as his arm strength. His stats are intriguing: He threw for 2,918 yards and 35 touchdowns and also rushed for 1,627 yards and 29 touchdowns as a junior. Graham Mertz Hometown/school: Leawood, Kansas/Blue Valley North HS Height, weight: 6-foot-3, 205 pounds 247Sports rank: No. 7 pro-style QB, No. 192 player overall 247Sports Composite rank: No. 5 pro-style QB, No. 145 player overall Commitment status: Committed to Wisconsin A lot has been said about Mertz regarding his commitment to Wisconsin. While he has said on several occasions that he is firm with the Badgers, it's no secret that several schools -- Texas A&M included -- are trying to flip the talented signal-caller. He threw for 3,684 yards and 45 touchdowns as a junior and will remain a topic of discussion among Texas A&M fans until signing day. Spencer Rattler Hometown/school: Phoenix/Pinnacle HS Height, weight: 6-foot-2, 180 pounds 247Sports rank: No. 3 pro-style QB/No. 113 player overall 247Sports Composite rank: No. 1 pro-style QB/No. 42 player overall Commitment status: Committed to Oklahoma Texas A&M offered Rattler under the old staff back in January 2016, but Rattler ultimately committed to Oklahoma on June 27 of last year. In three varsity seasons, Rattler has thrown for 9,220 yards and 93 touchdowns. His junior season included 3,946 passing yards and 45 touchdowns, and he completed 65 percent of his passes. Shae Suiaunoa Hometown/school: Houston/ Clear Lake HS Height, weight: 6-foot-2, 184 pounds 247Sports rank: No. 79 ATH/No. 858 player overall 247Sports Composite rank: No. 73 ATH/No. 839 player overall Commitment status: Uncommitted An event like the Elite 11 Finals is the perfect opportunity for Suiaunoa to prove that he is a "quarterback" rather than an "athlete." He doesn't have a Texas A&M offer, but he was on campus on May 25 and is building a good relationship with Fisher, offensive coordinator Darrell Dickey and the rest of the staff. Suiaunoa threw for 2,274 yards and 23 touchdowns and rushed for 801 yards and eight scores last season.
  8. aggy VIP recruiting notes Brian Perroni 65406 posts 12 minutes agoVIP QUARTERBACK This is obviously the biggest question mark out of any position. The Aggies have been evaluating several prospects and have sent out a few offers recently. Zach Calzada out of Georgia may or may not camp at A&M one of the next two weekends and he also does not have the escapability of the other quarterback targets so it will be interesting to see what Jimbo Fisher thinks if he does come and throw. Though he’s open, a lot of people think he will end up at Northwestern, though. Former commit Grant Gunnell is supposed to come up for the day sometime soon but it looks like it will be Arizona with him, though LSU will likely get an official visit in June. Michael Johnson Jr. out of Oregon likes the fact that Fisher was the first to offer him, doing so when he was a freshman and Fisher was at Florida State. However, as of now, Miami is definitely the team to beat. A&M recently offered Lance LeGendre out of New Orleans. Though an LSU offer would likely sway him, he committed to Kansas early over a bunch of other offers. His former head coach is on staff there and they also have several former Warren Easton players in Lawrence too. That leaves Jayden Daniels as the big uncommitted target that seems the most likely. While most are expecting him to end up at UCLA, there is a big question as to what will happen if Shae Suiaunoafrom Clear Lake commits to the Bruins while on his official visit that starts June 4. Will they take two quarterbacks? If so, that could cause Suiaunoa to end up back on the market. Whichever of the two does not end up at UCLA, A&M at least has a decent shot with. The Aggies have also at least looked at Peter Parrishin Mississippi and Coltin Clack of Texas High as well. It would not be a shock to see them give Maverick McIvor of San Angelo Central a look as well. Terrance Gipson of Spring Westfield is always an intriguing option as well. He’s an incredible athlete with a really strong arm and, at least in my opinion, is criminally under-recruited. Chris Herron of Langham Creek has improved as a passer a bit but he still seems like a likely ‘athlete’ in college, though. RUNNING BACK How many will A&M sign after inking four in the class of 2018? Charles Strong and Vernon Jackson are likely fullbacks, so that trims the number down a bit. Isaiah Spiller is an A&M/Michigan/Oklahoma battle with the Aggies and the Sooners a little out front. He wants to see what the run game looks like this year and also what the depth chart looks like with all the new arrivals. An Aggie legacy, his family would definitely like to see him in College Station, but they are not pushing anything on him. I think, if the Aggies continue on him hard and run the ball decently this season, there’s a good chance he ends up in Maroon and White. Amarillo Tascosa’s King Doerue is sort of tough to read but I think it’s honestly because he doesn’t know what he is going to do or who leads, either. Tascosa has not had a ton of prospects so the recruiting process is a bit unfamiliar to everybody involved. Doerue is not in any hurry but he likes A&M, Ole Miss, TCU and Texas Tech. The other main target would be Deondrick Glass but, like most Katy players, he is not likely to decide early at all and he has also played things very close to the vest. He has A&M in his top 10 and made it into town for the Super Bowl Sunday event but he could do almost anything at this point. It was obviously huge for A&M to get four-star Eric Gray out of Memphis in for a visit last week and you can bet the Aggies are working to get him back for an official. He’s likely to end up in the SEC but A&M will have to fight off some other schools that have long recruited Memphis more heavily than the Aggies. WIDE RECEIVER/TIGHT END A&M has three receiver commits in Kam Brown, Kenyon Jackson and Chase Lane with all three being solid in their pledges. That does not leave room for many more. The Aggies are looking for both size and speed and West Mesquite’s Dylan Wright fits both pretty well. After his recent unofficial visit, the Aggies are in much better shape than they were previously. A&M is a very real contender with him but Wright is likely to let things play out for a while. This will be the biggest one to follow for sure. The Aggies are still after Nnamdi Adim-Madumerefrom Fort Worth Southwest as well but a mid-June visit to Alabama could be one to watch for him. If he comes back uncommitted, that bodes well for A&M but the Tide are a team to watch there. A&M is also still after Elijah Higgins of Austin Bowie but Stanford has the momentum with him at the moment. Both Tamauzia Brown of Newton and Keontae Burnsof Pittsburg say they were offered by A&M at receiver. Burns is definitely very interested in the Aggies and will be one to watch. At tight end, A&M has its absolute No. 1 target committed in Baylor Cupp from Brock. The Aggies absolutely love him. The only other real target at the moment is Jalen Wydermyer of Dickinson but he does not plan to decide anytime soon. He likes both A&M and Miami but has been picking up a lot of new offers as of late. Will A&M push down the stretch? That will likely depend on what the numbers look like. OFFENSIVE LINE Though some other schools are making things interesting and making strong runs at him, five-star tackle Kenyon Green is still a very heavy Aggie lean. I expect him to take a few official visits and then commit to A&M at some point not too far off. A&M is also in good shape with Houston North Forest tackle Javonne Shepherd. Alabama and Texas are the other two main competitors and he is definitely enamored with the Tide as well. Alabama really likes him but they have a couple commits and are in on a number of other very highly-ranked linemen. I think he eventually joins his friend Green in Aggieland. On a recent unofficial visit, A&M made a huge impression on the Pensacola duo of tackle Adrian Medley and guard Hunter Rayburn. Rayburn especially has been adding a ton of offers recently, including one from Alabama last week. However, A&M is the only official visit they have set up as they are set to be in town on June 8. People in Florida continue to mention the Aggies as a very, very serious player with the duo and it would not be at all surprising to see them both end up at A&M. They are both set to graduate and enroll early. Crandall’s Branson Bragg is a big target on the interior but the Aggies are a bit behind Texas and Stanford at the moment. Wellington tackle Trevor Roberson is high on A&M, Arkansas and Texas Tech and I just get the feeling he will end up elsewhere. I honestly have no clue what Hallsville tackle Blake Trainor will do or if there would be room for him at A&M. The Aggies were his first Power Five offer but he has since added Arkansas and Missouri. DEFENSIVE LINE A&M has commitments from end/tackle swing DeMarvin Leal, end Braedon Mowry and tackle Josh Ellison. However, there is still a need for several others, even if RJ Orebo eventually ends up on the line and not at linebacker. Leal took an official visit to Texas after committing to the Aggies and could possibly set one up to Alabama. However, A&M is not worried about losing him. Though he does not have a timeline, A&M is still in very good shape for Katy Mayde Creek defensive end Marcus Stripling. He wants to take a few visits but he’s still likely to be an Aggie. A&M is also in very good shape with another Katy ISD product in Seven Lakes end David Ugwoegbu. The 6-foot-4.5, 225-pound defender could potentially be a 3-4 OLB but is also a prototypical 4-3 rush end. At tackle, Gio Paez out of North Carolina still plans to set up an A&M official visit. He has seen several new offers as of late but he has very real interest in the Aggies. He would currently considered the best shot of the out-of-state targets. A&M will try and steal ad out-of-state player like Jaquaze Sorrells from Florida or Jason Blissett from New York but it is an uphill battle with those and the others at this point. LINEBACKER A&M has Orebo committed as a linebacker and the Aggies love his length and athleticism at the position. They think they got an absolute steal in the 6-foot-6, 210-pound defender. The other commit is Andre White Jr. out of Pennsylvania. Thought to be virtually a Penn State lock, his commitment seemingly came out of nowhere when he did so a couple hours after arriving on an unofficial visit. A&M is going to have to fight to hold on to him but he has been very vocal publicly about the Aggies. Katy Cinco Ranch’s David Gbenda and Beaumont United’s Tyrone Brown are the two in-state targets. The former looks to have A&M a bit behind the other schools while the latter, who just decommitted from Baylor, is very high on the Aggies. Whether he would still be a take is a question we don’t currently have an answer to, though. Five-star Nakobe Dean out of Mississippi has been mentioned several times lately. He is going to be a very tough pull but he has very real interest in the Aggies. He has ties to Dickey as Horn Lake is just outside Memphis. Dean plans to visit A&M and will give the Aggies every opportunity. A&M just offered Tarian Lee Jr. out of Tallahassee and the 6-foot-2, 203-pound junior seems like a good fit for the Rover spot. Look for him to visit A&M at some point. Though junior college linebacker Lakia Henry recently committed to Tennessee, he plans to still use his official visits this fall. A&M will likely get one but Alabama is probably the biggest threat to the Vols at this point. Christian Harris out of Baton Rouge is still open to A&M and will visit soon but LSU and Alabama are going to be very tough to beat there. LSU pledge Zach Edwards out of Mississippi is still planning to visit A&M and loves Bradley Dale Peveto, so he could be a flip candidate. Kevon Glenn out of Georgia has a ton of offers but he likes A&M as a team and wants to see how the academics are. It wouldn’t be a shock to see him visit. DEFENSIVE BACK A&M has two safeties committed in five-star Brian Williams and four-star Demani Richardson and are likely done at that spot. At cornerback, both Bobby Wolfe of Houston Madison and Marcus Banks of Spring Dekaney plan to announce in late June or early July and both are expected to commit to A&M. The Aggies are also in very good shape with Fort Bend Bush four-star Erick Young, but will have to weather a USC official visit. I still believe he will end up at A&M as well, though. Those three would be a very, very good haul but adding Jeffery Carter of Aledo would make it even better. I still think that, if he committed today, it would be to Oregon. However, he was high on A&M for a very long time and the Aggies are still a very legitimate contender with him. Tyrone Lewis of Louisiana has talked about visiting but it will be interesting to see how the Aggies play that recruitment. Marquez Beason would be a take but everyone around him still expects him to sign with Illinois no matter what. KICKER A&M has Caden Davis committed and he is 100-percent solid. He will enroll in January
  9. Final full spring eval week: Looking at the new A&M offers VIP ByBRIAN PERRONI 2 hours ago Share 1 Comments (Photo: Brian Perroni, 247Sports) The spring evaluation period officially ends this coming Thursday and the Texas A&M coaches were busy during the last full week. While they were out on the road, several new offers went out both within the Lone Star State borders and to players all over the country. -St. Petersburg (Fla.) HS DT Keenan Hester: The 6-foot-5, 280-pound senior-to-be was offered by the Aggies last Sunday. Hester held several early offers but, for some reason, did not see more start coming in until a few weeks ago. A&M, Louisville, North Carolina and Tennessee are his most recent offers and he is still very open. Brooklyn (N.Y.) Poly Prep DT Jason Blissett: A&M DT coach Elijah Robinson spent a lot of time in the Northeast this week and the 6-foot-3.5, 271-pound Blissett is one of the players he went to see. He called the A&M offer ‘huge.’ Blissett, who plays end in high school and could keep doing so, does not necessarily have a list of favorites but likes the Aggies and also plans to visit Duke, Virginia and Wake Forest. -Tallahassee (Fla.) Godby LB Tarian Lee Jr.: The 6-foot-2, 203-pound defender is a player that A&M went by to see recently and, on Thursday, the Aggies offered. Lee’s film is solid but, for whatever reason, he only has a handful of offers. He could very well be one to watch. -Pittsburg ATH Keontae Burns: The 6-foot-3, 177-pound East Texan can play either receiver or safety, though he says the Aggies offered him at receiver. He has been pretty hot as of late with Alabama also recently offering. Some people in East Texas felt the Aggie offer was a really big one for Burns and that A&M is a major player. Arkansas is in good shape as well
  10. Its so obvious what the aggy mods are doing. Last cycle every time Texas would get a commit, Perroni would pump out 2 or 3 useless articles. I guess Sayles was told to do it this cycle.
  11. The next Aggies? A&M pledges chime in (Part 2) VIP ByDAMON SAYLES 48 minutes ago Share 1 Comments Jeffery Carter (Photo: Damon Sayles, 247Sports) On Saturday, GigEm247 posted Part 1 of a two-part story involving the anonymous opinions of members of the 2019 cycle regarding who they would like to add to their nationally ranked recruiting class. Among the names were the nation's No. 4 offensive tackle Kenyon Green, former Texas A&M quarterback pledge Grant Gunnell and new TCU offensive lineman commit Andrew Coker. Today, we continue the series, as several other names were mentioned by the class. Texas A&M currently has a dozen commitments, and to improve from the No. 3 spot in 247Sports' football recruiting team composite rankings to possibly the No. 1 spot, the athletes are hoping to land a few elite players. While Green was a popular offensive player of discussion, 4-star cornerback Jeffery Carter was a name a couple of players mentioned as a potential defensive pledge. Carter is a top-100 player with 22 reported offers. Carter announced a top six last month of Texas A&M, Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Oregon, and many believe the race will come down to either Texas A&M, Oregon or Oklahoma. Carter is the nation's No. 41 player overall and No. 5 cornerback, according to 247Sports. He also is ranked the No. 5 player from the state of Texas. At 6 feet and 180 pounds, Carter is projected to play cornerback at the next level, but he is equally talented as a wide receiver. "I want Jeffery Carter," one commit said. "He's very athletic, fast, strong and can play both sides of the ball." "I mean ... he's a dog on the field," another commit said. While many in-state players are always considered primary targets, one player in Texas A&M's 2019 class has been doing his research on the out-of-state talent. Much like the Aggies' coaching staff has shown, the objective is to find the best fits for the program, whether the target lives a few minutes or thousands of miles from College Station. When asked for one name to add to the class, the anonymous pledge couldn't decide between two -- Mississippi linebacker Zach Edwards and California linebacker Spencer Lytle. Edwards currently is an LSU commit, while Lytle has 40-plus reported offers and June official visits set to Wisconsin and Notre Dame. Edwards has been committed to LSU since March 3, but he was at Texas A&M for the Maroon & White Game in April and is considered a legitimate target for the Aggies to flip at inside linebacker. Lytle may be more of a challenge for the Texas A&M staff. Although he visited the campus and enjoyed the time spent on March 24, Lytle is believed to be looking more at Notre Dame, UCLA and Big Ten schools Wisconsin, Minnesota and Indiana. "I would love to see either Zach Edwards or Spencer Lytle [committed]," the pledge said. "They are two high-class linebackers and would be great to be around. I'm looking forward to being able to fight on the field alongside them." The breakdown of Texas A&M's 2019 class includes seven defensive players, four offensive players and a special teams commit. From a defensive line perspective, the Aggies have loads of talent coming in 4-stars DeMarvin Leal, Braedon Mowry and Josh Ellison. The Aggies are hoping to one or two defensive linemen, and a name that came up was Marcus Stripling. The Mayde Creek defensive end is ranked the nation's No. 140 overall prospect in the class, and as the No. 11 defensive end, he's been a player to watch for some time. Texas A&M is the favorite to land him, according to his 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions, but schools like Oklahoma, LSU and Florida are true contenders. "He's a beast," the commit said of Stripling. "What else can you say?" "You get him ... that's a wrap," another pledge said. "He's a monster on the field." Stripling has made multiple trips to Texas A&M, the latest coming in April for the spring game. He has 20 reported offers yet has not set a timetable for his final decision. 1COMMENTS The summer will be key for Texas A&M to not only impress their targets but also add more members to the growing class. Two players the commits will be keeping an eye on are the Pensacola, Florida, offensive line duo of Adrian Medley and Hunter Rayburn. Both linemen are scheduled for official visits the weekend of June 8
  12. The next Aggies? A&M pledges chime in VIP ByDAMON SAYLES 40 minutes ago Share 2 Comment OT Kenyon Green (Photo: Brian Perroni, 247Sports) As the spring prepares to turn into the summer, a large amount of elite-level targets are still uncommitted in the 2019 class. With Texas A&M at a dozen commits, there's still opportunity for the class to get even better -- and improve from No. 3 in 247Sports' football recruiting team composite rankings to the No. 1 spot. In order for that to happen, the Aggies will need to land some more of the premier names in college football recruiting. Texas A&M currently has one 5-star commit in safety Brian Williamsand a handful of 4-star players. But, there are still 5-stars and 4-stars available. The 12 commitments were asked about who they would want in their class. The majority of the dozen pledges participated in the short question-and-answer session, and they all agreed to answer anonymously. When asked about a recruit, whether uncommitted or committed to another school, who they wanted to be a part of the Texas A&M class, Grant Gunnell was one of the names that came up on multiple occasions. A top-100 player nationally and former Texas A&M commit, Gunnell's return to the class would solve the questions the Aggies have in landing a signal-caller. "He would really bring a good end to an already-championship-caliber class," one commit said of Gunnell, who is the nation's No. 3 pro-style quarterback and No. 97 player overall, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite. "He is a real good player that would help our class," another pledge said. "And, he is a cool guy." Gunnell has made official visits to Ohio State and Arizona. His Crystal Ball predictions are leaning toward him joining former Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin at Arizona. But several players are hoping to change his mind by signing day. Another player the commits would love to have a part of the class just signed with TCU on Friday. Andrew Coker is a 3-star talent with 17 reported offers and a high ceiling on the football field. The Aggies were in the hunt for Coker, who stands nearly 6-foot-7 and weighs 310 pounds, but TCU was a team to watch for quite some time, and on Friday, Coker decided to pull the trigger. The Aggies are still looking for an offensive lineman commit in the 2019 class. A couple of pledges would have loved to have added Coker to the group -- and some still think the Aggies have a shot to flip him before signing day. "He's big, he's strong, and he's physical," one commit said. "I know he will make us all better." "He's like my brother, and having family with you in such an amazing place is more than amazing," another pledge said. "I know if he goes to A&M, he'd love it." As for an uncommitted recruit, the same name seemed to come up by a few offensive and defensive pledges. Kenyon Green is ranked the No. 1 player in the state of Texas, and he's ranked the nation's No. 15 player overall and No. 4 offensive tackle, per the 247Sports Composite. Green announced his top five on Friday, consisting of Texas A&M, Texas, Alabama, LSU and Oklahoma. He's a former LSU commit who many believe could be the next 5-star pledge for the Aggies. In fact, what one commit said about Green practically was echoed and paraphrased by a couple others. 2COMMENTS "He's the best O-lineman in the nation," one commit said. "What else is there to say?" The commits chimed in on a few other players, as well. Look for Part 2 of this story to run Sunday
  13. From what I've read on TCU board he will be committing to the frog sometimes today or tonight.
  14. 4-star teammates Shepherd, Demas could end up at same school VIP ByBRIAN PERRONI 12 minutes ago Share0 Commen (Photo: Brian Perroni, 247Sports) Two of the top prospects in Greater Houston hail from the same high school on the north side - North Forest. Though not traditionally a recruiting hotbed, that has changed with four-star junior offensive tackle Javonne Shepherd and four-star sophomore wide receiver Demond Demas. "Man, I think pretty much every school has been by the school this spring," the 6-foot-4, 200-pound Demas said. "It's been sort of crazy."Shepherd and Demas are good friends off the field as well and have taken numerous unofficial visits together lately. Recently, they've seen a trio of programs - two in state and one out. "Texas was the last visit I went on," the 6-foot-6, 319-pound Shepherd said. "It was nice. The best part was really just getting to know the whole staff and everything. Alabama was great. I had a great talk with Nick Saban and then I watched practice too. That was intense. And Texas A&M, I went before that. I got to build more of a relationship with the coaches while I was up there. It wasn't for a practice or anything." Shepherd was noncommittal on those being his top schools but says all three are definitely up there near the top. "I'm really high on those three," he said. "I can't say for sure that those are my top three or anything but all three are definitely up there." Demas was on all three of those trips with Shepherd as well as an additional one to another SEC program. "The latest visits were Alabama, Georgia, A&M and Texas," the nation's No. 44 prospect in the class of 2020 said. "Texas, we were up there for the spring game. They throw the ball a lot, so I noticed that. At Alabama, I watched the practice and they swing it around a little bit. At A&M, we talked and went over plays and stuff like that." Demas is a year younger than Shepherd so he is even farther from naming his top few schools. "Almost everybody, I still talk to a lot," he said as to which schools he keeps in communication with the most. "You never know what could happen. I might like a new coach or something better than an old one or something. I'll post my top 10 out my junior year." Shepherd had wanted to commit over the summer but has pushed back that decision. "I'm not sure. I had considered doing it in June but I think that has changed because I want to take my official visits," he said. "I'm not sure if I'm going to do them in the summer or the fall. I might do some in the summer and some in the fall. I know I'm going to wait (to commit) until I take my officials, though." Shepherd admits he was actually close to make an early decision at one point and it would have been to an in-state school. "I was close [to committing], I'd say. It was last year," he said. "It was probably when I had my first offer, and that was A&M." Demas knows Shepherd will be making a decision before him and he says his teammate's announcement could signal where he will ultimately end up as well. "You could say that," Demas said, laughing. "It's not definite or anything, but it's a possibility. It's like 50/50
  15. Greater Houston: Where A&M stands with the city's top prospects VIP ByBRIAN PERRONI 3 hours ago Share0 Comments (Photo: Brian Perroni, 247Sports) HOUSTON – The Houston VYPE photo shoot saw most of the top players from Greater Houston converge on the Lone Star Flight Museum on Sunday and there was quite a bit of recruiting information to come out of the event. -Starting at quarterback, Houston St. Pius four-star and former A&M commit Grant Gunnell says Darrell Dickeycame by this past week. Gunnell also plans to visit Aggieland sometime in the next couple weeks with his brother Will, a walk-on receiver for A&M, to talk with Dickey. However, the Aggies are still on the outside looking in. Gunnell has taken official visits to Ohio State and Arizona and an unofficial to Cal recently. He hopes to make a June decision and the only other official he will likely take is to LSU.Arizona, with former A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin and offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone, is in the best shape right now. -Houston Austin’s Malik Hornsby is the only class of 2020 in-state quarterback with an A&M offer. He is in no hurry to decide and he wants to see a number of schools but the recent Texas offer was a big one for him. -At running back, Klein Collins four-star Isaiah Spiller has a top three of A&M, Michigan and Oklahoma. He was once committed to OU, is an A&M legacy and likes how Michigan has been recruiting him. Spiller plans to use his official visits in the fall and then decide on or around the Early Signing Day. He really wants to see how A&M uses the running backs in the new offense. The Aggies have really stressed to him how much he would see the ball in the passing game. If he likes what he sees from the offense, A&M is in good shape. A&M was in the top 10 for Katy four-star running back Deondrick Glass but he is relatively quiet when it comes to recruiting. Glass did admit that Alabama was in his top three but would not name the other two. He does not plan to decide anytime soon. -The Aggies are still in good shape with five-star Atascocita offensive tackle Kenyon Green. He still does not have a timeframe in mind but there was a lot of talk around the event that people expected him to end up at A&M. -North Forest offensive tackle Javonne Shepherd is pretty much a three-team race with A&M, Alabama and Texas. He has visited all three recently. The Tide have made a big impact and could be the Aggies’ biggest contenders. He has become quite close with Green, though, and the two still talk about playing together. Shepherd had originally wanted to make a June decision but has decided to push that back. He wants to take some official visits, possibly in the summer and early fall
  16. Hamm also stated, Fishers stalker Crazy Karen will also have her own studio show twice a month.

  18. Brian Perroni 64448 posts 20 minutes agoVIP At one point, Spring Dekaney cornerback Marcus Banks had pretty much been penciled in by Texas as a Longhorn commitment. While he was definitely seemingly leaning there, he kept in frequent contact with the Texas A&M coaches as well. Banks was one of the first players visited by Jimbo Fisher after he took the job and the Aggies are very high on the 6-foot, 170-pound defender. Banks took his first official visit at the end of last month. It was to A&M, two weeks after he had also been in town for the spring game. The next weekend, he had been scheduled to officially visit Austin, but Banks ended up calling it off. While there was talk of him rescheduling, Banks had actually stopped talking with Texas as he had a new leader and was showing no interest in the Longhorns anymore. There was suddenly no more reciprocated communication on his part. The consensus surrounding him seems to be that A&M was able to flip the script during his visit and the Aggies took the clear lead. He is scheduled to officially visit Alabama in mid-June but it would not be a shock if that trip did not happen either. Banks is set to announce at The Opening Finals in Frisco, which will be held from June 30-July 2. It would not be a surprise to see both he and four-star cornerback Bobby Wolfe commit to the Aggies at the event
