  1. Yep. No leaving the ranch to run up to Ace Hardware to buy a box or two b/c you forgot your pils at home. yikes- jealous!
  2. I’d still come out ahead if all I have to pay for is a new place and the side piece picks up her monthly overhead.
  3. All this home time has obviously given my wife time to look around and figure out shit she isn't happy with in our house. After fielding a couple of what she intended to seem as random and unrelated questions about "real estate" yesterday I knew what was up. As I went to bed last night I said....."If you decide you want to move, make sure to leave me a forwarding address so I can send you a Christmas card every year.....good night."
  4. Congrats fellas!
  5. Anahuac runs a close second. I used to fish there with an old coonass who would cover his arms, legs, and neck with marsh mud instead of using DEET.
  6. Bet there are some interweb orders being placed from CA tonight..... https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/breaking-us-district-court-grants-preliminary-injunction-blocking-californias-ammo-background-check-law/
  7. For what it's worth........
  8. PSA........ClassicFirearms.com has some Glock 22 and 27s in stock from police trade-ins. I've had good luck with them in the past and if your looking for a good truck gun or something reasonably priced those are pretty good values considering today's market. Everything surplus I've ever purchased from them far exceeded the stated condition. If they list as Good to Very Good, then my experience is that they are hardly used at all.
  9. Yep......I'm not your bank. I didn't loan you equipment.....I sold it to you. I understand your claim that your customer hasn't paid you yet, but nowhere in this order was it listed as a consignment sale.
  10. Watching with my wife, not 2 minutes ago, when espn did the State Farm “flashback” commercial.....I’ll give you one guess as to how that conversation went....
  11. We got PPP funded for both of my companies last week, after working through our local bank. They were deliberate but not necessarily slow. Fortunately I'd gotten out ahead of them and was more than ready once they said go. Thanks to several of you for bits of wisdom and interpretations that helped me be ahead of the curve when they opened their window. I've got several buddies who waited on their banks and were left holding an empty bag. Hopefully they'll get swept up in a 2nd round. The impact of this on banking relationships is going to be interesting to watch. Take care all. Trudge on......
  12. SGAmmo just updated their inventory and pricing. Link here SGAmmo 4/17/20 Provides what they have in stock and is also of interest even if you aren't in the market now b/c the owner gives bits of info, what he sees in the pipeline and when he expects other shipments as well. Take it for what its worth but my experience has been that he is honest about market conditions and the supply chain overall. Particularly interesting are the comments below some of the Russian rounds and how the supply chain has been interrupted. That'll have an effect on domestically made stuff if the European product dries up.
  13. That is one crazy MFer who needs monitoring.
  14. Correct. Raising prices with demand is one thing, but cancelling previously placed orders and relisting items at inflated pricing is egregious. They basically dumped all of their existing orders in the trash and repriced everything which is far worse IMO than jacking up prices for new orders.
  15. I've heard that market is really tight as well. Some shortages and higher pricing. I don't know that from personal experience shopping it but I've seen mention of reloaders being frustrated by availability of certain powders, primers, etc.
  16. SGAmmo market commentary- Take it FWIW A lot has changed in the ammo business over the past 40 days as the Covid-19 outbreak created the largest rush to purchase ammo in all of history. Supply has been badly diminished, and bottlenecks in manufacturing and distribution will continue cause shortages for months yet to come. From what I am seeing the worst is yet to come on ammunition availability which I believe will reach its worst in the next 30 to 90 days. The buyer's market conditions which I have talked about in so many prior newsletters that brought ammo prices to 12 year lows in 2018, 2019 and early 2020 have passed. I hope most people followed my advise in the past and stocked up while supply and prices were at their best. At this time supply has for the most part been bought up, most ammo factories and importers have done substantial price increases, and moving forward availability will be limited to what the factories can make and allocate to their distributors. Covid-19 has caused some ammunition factories in Europe and Russia to close and / or reduce production, and most likely that will spill over here to some of the manufacturers in the USA at some point. I'd love to stay positive but realistically there are dark times ahead for the ammunition supply chain. All things considered, I believe we still have some decent deals in stock, admittedly not as good as they were, but not as bad as I expect them to become. If you are sitting on large quantities of ammo it might be wise to sit it out for a while but if you are short in supply it might be a good idea to get a few cases before availability gets worse. We thank you for your support of our family owned and operated business and will do our best to serve our clients well in these strange times, so please stay subscribed for future SGAmmo newsletters. If you have some spare time please take a few minutes and look over the online catalog at www.SGAmmo.com Sam Gabbert - SGAmmo Owner
  17. Look on the bright side....at least he doesn't need a heart transplant.
  18. .300 Blackout is a different caliber than the 5.56 . You could buy a .300 BO upper for your AR-15 and convert it but the ammunition isn’t interchangeable with your stock rifle (assuming it is a 5.56 chambering). Basically- Any centerfire caliber can over penetrate with the right (wrong) bullet so it’s not the caliber, but the bullet selection that matters. Opinions vary on the “best” home defense rounds and like assholes, everyone has one. My preference for 5.56 or .300BO for that matter would be a Controlled Chaos round by Lehigh Defense. I’m partial to their bullet design for home defense due to field experience and I have seen the Controlled Chaos terminal performance on thin skinned animals in real life. Devastating wound channels with no pass through.....Again, just my opinion based on my experience. if you want to go with the .300BO chambering you’ll need a new upper and will swap out the 5.56 upper (or buy a new rifle chambered in .300BO) Takes 30 seconds to change an upper. Just be careful not to mix magazines - mark them properly so you don’t cause an accident. The .300BO vs. 5.56 debate is an entirely different debate.
  19. We didn't feel the effects of '08/'09 until '10 and '11. What was already in motion stayed in motion but there were no new projects (for my work) conceived during the upheaval and my time lag from project conception to sale is about 2 years. I too look strong right now but the layoffs in the oil industry will certainly hurt me down the road and I have precious little visibility into what's going from pen to paper right now with regard to new projects in light of the quarantine and related uncertainty.
  20. This is no small point in the overall discussion of what the recovery will look like. For many companies / industries, there is work TODAY as we are still picking fruit from projects planted months before the 'rona hit. When the slowdown will manifest is in the months to come when there is nothing in the pipeline due to stoppages in project development. Some of the economy will bounce right back where there is immediate demand, but there are are going to be gaps where there is a break in the work cycle and nothing can fill that but time.
  21. Wife is cooking....... Her: Alexa, how many cups in a quart? Alexa: A quart contains four cups. Me: Babe- it’s really easy- quart, quarter gallon- 4 quarts to a gallon and then a cup is also one quarter so 4 cups to a quart. Wife: Don’t try and fill up my brain. I don’t want anything else in here (pointing to temple). That’s what Alexa is for.
  22. If just to shoot at the range- go to SGAmmo and grab a 420 rd can of Federal American Eagle 55gr. at $0.38 / rd. It’ll go bang. Then if you want something for home defense or more precision shooting you can buy a box or two as appropriate after that.
  23. My banker is working on Easter Sunday. Just sent me notice I’m SBA approved and all done for my two companies.
  24. .300 Subs are still in stock at SG - $0.60/pop by the 1000. FMJ supers at $0.76/pop in stock. Sellier and Bellot has been good to me over the years. No complaints.
