  1. I love watching Burns play. Hope they keep winning.
  2. This reminds me of going to the liquor store in college and picking up some 'imports' to try new things.
  3. Seems like a job for McKinsey. They'll fix 'em right up.
  4. Pulled up next to a restored one in dark green at a stop light today. Such a badass vehicle and it sounded perfect. Just a Dad cruising with his son in the back. I was jealous.
  5. Ha, fair enough. Trim and finish work is definitely my favorite part. I love all the details.
  6. Not trying to be disingenuous here. I did not make the top. I just finished it. Wish I had the tools to make something like this.
  7. Finished and installed the new island top. Now to turn the old one into a coffee table.
  8. On the PM subject, good organization and communication is really an underrated skill. Very few are good at it and I appreciate it when they are. Otherwise I agree with what has been said.
  9. If we're going to be embarrassingly shitty I can root for ISU. Nice win. Now how far to pick you all in the tournament.
  10. Our house has some Ring cameras outside when we moved in so I added on the alarm package which I installed myself on all the doors and downstairs windows. We pay $10/month for video recording without monitoring. I've never really seen a lot of value for the monitoring.
  11. I think I'm going to get a Makita track saw for my next big purchase.
  12. The people who complain on Facebook about paying a boatload of taxes never actually pay a boatload of taxes.
  13. It is nowadays, most people barely have a "retirement" much less a savings. Was going to say that while it's not a 'fortune', it's many multiples more than what the average person will ever have. Which is kind of crazy to think about.
  14. The best is when you ignore them and then they respond 'nevermind, I figured it out!'. You're welcome. Glad I could help.
  15. I'm a sucker for all things walnut. We have a walnut top for our kitchen island. Just ordered another one and am using this one for a coffee table. Considering doing the formal dining table in walnut also, but it may be too much. Of course I'd have walnut floors if I could afford it.
  16. Almost drove home from the Houston Rodeo last year because of this. What a nightmare.
  17. Been there man. It sucks balls, but is worth it. Don't skimp on the prep, primer, or paint because you don't want to do that shit again.
  18. For me, personally, I'd rather have no tub, larger shower, and more storage in the master. I think one tub is required by the kids bedrooms, but other than that they are useless. We've never used ours even once.
  19. Finally spent the money on a new pump and installed it tonight. The old one has been loud as hell since we bought this house, but kept running so I tried to ignore it. The new one is night and day difference in sound. Will be nice to be outside and not hear that bullshit anymore.
  20. Oil Plus 2C followed by Universal Maintenance Oil
  21. Here are a few after just the single coat for comparison. Different lighting, but still noticeable. And one sanded to bare wood.
  22. Yeah I didn't mind the single coat look, but I could see how a lot of people would think it looked unfinished. Probably looks better on some wood species than others. I was worried the maintenance oil would bring the sheen up too much, but it's perfect. It is more matte now than it was when I took those pictures. Maybe somewhere between matte and satin.
  23. Highly recommend the Pure color on black walnut. It looks amazing. The maintenance oil really gave it a professional looking finish too. Also, the sanding is really important. Tons of videos out there, but I used multiple grits all the way up to 180 and water popped the grain between each. Maroon pad by hand before the final maintenance oil coat.
  24. Always looks different in pictures, but our kitchen table was long overdue for a refinish. Used Waterlox before and was never really happy with it. Tried Rubio Monocoat this time and love how it turned out. One coat of finish and one coat of maintenance oil. Super easy to use and dries to a nice matte/satin sheen that still looks like wood rather than a plastic coating like some do.
  25. You should be grateful to your executive overlords for allowing you such a generous perk. I know I am.
