  1. I'm confused, the kid was enrolled at St. Edward's and ATM at the same time and was playing baseball. How the fuck is that even possible? Why would a kid smart enough to carry 24 hours receiving all A's and play baseball spend 3 years at a Juco unless he didn't have the credits needs to transfer or wasn't good enough to catch anyone's attention. This is nothing short of greed if the play is to stay in as long as possible to get paid for what reason? He was forced out by the NCAA? Hell, sue all the D1 coaches who didn't recognize your son's talent because obviously someone that smart and that talented didn't need to spend the first three years of his career at a juco.
  2. Money helps a great deal, but actually showing you can develop a quarterback who can throw the ball down the field plays a part as well. Seriously, OU has fucked up the quarterback situation the last two years and kids notice that shit.
  3. I am at a point where why the hell not? Seriously, who are they going to throw out in left and right who are going to provide more offensively? Might as well find out what Cam and Zach can do if you are going to keep them both up on the roster. Mix in the other options from time to time, but give them the bulk of the work.
  4. You obviously didn't see that piece of shit Ritchie put out for his wife or the movie that followed that when he went M Knight on the plot. He is capable of going pretty damn low at times, though most of the times he stays in his lanes and hits the mark.
  5. Mathematically yes and Lando does have the equal car right now, but Lando doesn't have the same mindset and I would not be surprised at the end of the year the top two are not Oscar and Max.
  6. Depends, if I have the mistake for him to owe me money, then hell no. If however, I am being robbed and need someone to scare off the perps he might be a handy guy to have around.
  7. Your right, Magic and Bird had no impact on the NBA or their teams in their first years. Except, Boston was +32 in terms on victories in Bird's first season and lost in the second round of the play-offs to the Sixers who went on to play in the NBA finals. If I only could remember who the Sixers lost in that final, oh yeah, the Lakers who were +13 in regular season wins and won the title in a game 6 in which Magic literally willed that team to victory with a stat line of 42 points, 15 rebounds, and 7 assists playing center replacing an injured Kareem. You are right in that the 1980 final and the 1981 final were not all broadcast live as the overall ratings for the NBA were very low. We did see however, in 1982 all the finals games were live broadcast and interest was starting to grow as the Lakers won their second title in 3 seasons. They played in the Finals a 3rd time in 1984, lost to the Sixers, and then the next season why saw the start of the run of great Finals games against the Celtics. If the quality of the product hadn't gotten better the NBA was going to be in very big trouble and that is exactly what Magic and Bird did for the game. I will say it again, Clark and here team need to win and force the league to raise its level of play to attract new viewers. The WNBA is not a new league, it has been around almost 30 years and the team that dominated the league in those early years no longer exists because people stopped going to the games in Houston. Why? Quality of play.
  8. Europe maybe, Spain has a decent women's league, pays well comparable to the WNBA, and not a bad place to live. Not much different than what we see from the better men's and women's soccer players going overseas. I understand ztejas position about how viewership is going to grow because of all the participation in the youth leagues etc... which will translate into viewers. When I was in elementary school my Mom signed me up for a youth soccer program and we went to watch Kyle Rote Jr and the Dallas Tornado play at Ownbey Stadium. That gives you a hint how long ago this was and at the time we heard the very same thing. Soccer will eventually become very popular in the US because of all the youth players who will eventually become viewers etc.....and it did grow a bit. If you expect Clark to raise the profile of the league similar to what Magic and Bird did for the NBA she and her team need to win titles and force the rest of the league to elevate their games otherwise she is Pete Maravich playing in obscurity in Atlanta and New Orleans ,
  9. So, she is basically Texas during football season in the Big 12 which means she should be leaving for a bigger league in a couple of years.
  10. Personally, I have found stumbling around and winning is far more preferrable than stumbling around and losing, but I am sure the glass was full, fell on the floor and shattered into a million pieces, and I cut up my bare feet while trying to get a broom, dust pan, and mop will be along shortly to tell us why we are all not seeing thw true big picture of this team.
  11. A very good point. Listening to George on the radio later in the race it sounded as if he was anticipating Oscar to push forward and George was going to either pass him or at least tag along and pass Max. Friend texted me that Oscar should have gone old school and made up his mind to either win the corner or crash he and Max out, but I don't think most of the modern drivers think that way.
  12. Which part? Crane not willing to overspend or the Padres trying to outspend the Dodgers and coming in second in terms of payroll and standings.
  13. Damn easy to spend other peoples money and that is exactly what is happening, I will type SLLOOOWWWWLLLLLYYYYYY. His ESTATE owns the Padres .
  14. Similar to the problem that plagued Junior though I believe with Griffey it first started hitting a wall on a catch.
  15. You mean the guy who tried to buy a championship before he died two years ago and now his estate is the owner of the team?
  16. Understood, so what the fuck happened where he can grip a bat? Seriously, if you are 27, aside from some autoimmune issue what can possibly cause so much pain and discomfort you can't grab and hold a bat?
  17. There is being cheap and there is someone who views players as assets and will spend accordingly with the periodic wild hair impulse buy, say Hader for example. Bregman at 31 is at a career high for exit velocity and hard hit% which is not only the norm for most players, but what indicated he was going to start the way he has this year?
  18. After the All-Star break? What the fuck! Seriously, what could possibly be wrong with the guy that would have him out for weeks? He is supposedly only 27, okay, factor in the Cuba birth certificate and he could be over 30 and if so those aches are called being over 30 so deal with it.
  19. Stanford also has a habit of not playing well with their conference mates. They aren't a pain in the arse like say BYU with some of their outright "we won't play on certain days" etc..... but there was more than one Pac school that was damn happy to be away from Stanford and it wasn't because they were getting beat by the Cardinal.
  20. The race was won between Friday and the point where Max passed Oscar. Red Bull did an incredible job changing something to go from what was seen in practice on Friday and today on the track. The pass by Max was a great move coupled by Oscar being WAY too tentative. Hoping he learns from today and applies next week because Monaco is more of the same. With that being said, the Red Bull driven by Max was the fastest car today. You could see it after the re-start when he absolutely ran away and hid from the two McLarens. i am not smart enough to know whether this is a the case of improvements made by Red Bull or if this track fits Max and the Red Bull really well as he has now won 4 in a row at Imola. Great day for Ferrari, can Charles possibly be anymore morose? Lando is whiny, George a wanker, and everything with Charles is so damn dour. Ferrari needs to replace his race engineer with a sports psychologist. Great weekend for Williams and a great drive for Alex (currently 8th in drivers' points). Also a good weekend for Carlos and Williams is clearly having the best year of the teams outside the big four. WTF happened to the Astons in the second half of the race? These next two weekends should be interesting with a similar race next week and then a more open circuit in Spain.
  21. Don't disagree with any of that, but in the end do you really think who they recruit is driven by where they play their games or the success of the program?
  22. The decision who gets included isn't going to eventually be driven by the conferences or who plays nice with whom.
  23. This, I think the smart schools in solid non-P4 conferences wait for the next round of conference realignment. There are 68 teams in the four power conferences and ND. Not all of those are going to be included in the next round which means there could be some very interesting options to form some new, regionalized conferences.
