  1. QB draw, reminiscent of Robert Brewer v Bama in the 80 or 81 Cotton Bowl. No one - nary a soul - in the middle of the field.
  2. What witless wonder concocted this nonsense? UCLA, USC, TCU, Ole Miss and Florida would like a word.
  3. I see the schools brought their greased pig contests with them.
  4. Dia's spreading the Longhorn love
  5. Am I confusing Vince's son with another football legacy who is better at basketball than football?
  6. Gospel. It blows my mind that anyone would think differently. This is one of those unalterable truisms along the lines of, "Make sure the gun is unloaded before trying to clean it."
  7. Teams are warming up on the field. 8:50 start. Coverage at 8:47
  8. We may need a Lott, but we already have plenty of better versions of Finley.
  9. I think it was Gerry who said that at some point (one would think after they are on campus) they are signing 3 year contracts. They better hope their representatives are actual agents that have their best interest at heart, because someone needs to read the fine print. You know, in case there's a clause buried in there that binds them to Tech if they are difference makers, and a clause that allows Tech to sever the relationship without paying out the remaining contract, you know, in case they are not difference makers. Too bad lawyer Mike Leach is no longer with us, I bet he would have a few things to say.
  10. Thanks. I have to say, Bobby was being mysterious/cryptic/coy so I figured it would be something bigger than that.
  11. Not the right thread for this, but this morning Bobby and Gerry were hinting at portal news and said they would have an update this afternoon. Anybody know anything? @closetojumping @FreeHorn @someguy?
  12. In baseball known as Tommy John Lite.
  13. Harvey Updyke says hold my beer...
  14. The Ignore feature works wonders.
  15. Maybe I was jaded having worked in the motion picture industry, but Blair Witch Project was a bore. Woody Allen's Shadows and Fog was too. Moving a film camera to create a sense of unease isn't special and requires no talent. It's like getting sea sick. The Blair Witch Project only provided interest in the final scene, which despite the many years I won't spoiler. The Haunting is far scarier taking the opposite effect of the camera remaining on a single atmospheric shot and allowing the viewer's imagination to fill in the gaps.
  16. I was a student from 1978-82. There was the theatre in the student union, above the rec center. Batts Hall used to show movies on weekends, as did Jester Auditorium semi-regularly. Dobie during that period was two screens, larger than the screen after the renovation. Even rarer was the movie screened in the Burdine Auditorium. The Varsity Theatre was at 24th & Guadalupe, which later and sadder became a Tower Records. On the Drag down between Wallace's Book Store and Quackenbush's (reference point, Quackenbush's wasn't there then) was the Texas Theatre, which showed porn films.
  17. We'll force more turnover because QBs are going to be getting rid of the ball before the play calls for it. And because continued pressure and hits will force fumbles from said QBs. Our DTs are going to be better than last year. We don't have any questionable talents like we did going into last year. Alex January is going to be better (before he's through) than Collins, Broughton and anyone not named Sweat and Murphy. And I'm not positive on that. I shit you not, we're going to terrify offenses this season. The only game I think we might lose is at tOSU, just because it's the first game. And we probably win that one. And then Katie bar the door.
  18. Legacies who were raised right.
  19. My parents loaded up the entire brood when I was 5 and took us to see 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, and whew boy, that giant squid made my sleep pure torture for several weeks. Seeing Old Yeller for the first time was traumatic too, albeit in a different way.
  20. People underestimated pretty much everything sans kickoff returns about Golden last year. And to the Whittington work ethic and leadership, OTF has said that Moore is the first one at practice and the last to leave. All I'm saying is, let's see. Jackson seems pretty good at WR development.
  21. Taaffe is back. Practice reports say that he isn't allowed to call the signals much of the time so everybody learns to recognize and make those calls. We have several coaches devoted to just the secondary. We have - by my count - 16 scholarship players in the secondary, and those scholarships are hard-earned. They are aggressive, intelligent, coached-up and hungry. Our entire defense is going to be a fucking abattoir. Think '85 Bears.
