  1. Hi Neighbor, our ranch is out that way too. We've had property off 337 since 90's and have definitely noticed a decrease in rain fall out there within the past 10 years. We do rain collection for flushing toilets and taking showers and I'm expecting to have to truck it in over the summer if things do not change. It's pretty sad when the family text chain blows up over the .07 registered in the rain gauge this morning.
  2. We just drove through Kerrville headed west and I’ve never seen that town so dead. Maybe the locals are already hunkered down until Tuesday. Even HEB was empty (and open).
  3. I’ve got the kids out harvesting some collards as we speak. We planted a few different types of greens and some broccoli this fall. The broccoli is coming along nicely but just seems to grow so slow and I never seem to plant enough for a decent haul. We are still picking jalapeños and serranos, they just won’t quit. I also have a few tomato plants that still look good. I’ve never held on to tomato plants through the winter, any idea if they will produce again in the Spring? Can’t recommend David’s Garden Seeds out of San Antonio enough, everything I planted from them last year did really well.
  4. 78729 here too, is your power half out? I’ve never seen it where some of our lights are on, but very dim.
  5. I dealt with Take All Root Rot last year and this was suggested to me by the people at Natural Gardener. You do have to stay on it and treat every few weeks to get the problem under control, but it worked for us.
  6. Bumping this ancient thread in the hope of some new info from the Surly hive mind. I’ve had sciatic nerve pain for the last several months that will not let up. An x-ray showed “mild disc narrowing” at L4-L5 so my internist sent me to PT. I’m in week 4 of therapy (at twice a week) and seeing minimal, if any improvement. Maybe I’m just being impatient, but I feel like even my therapist is thinking I should be getting better by now. If anyone has any Austin dr recommendations, I’d love to hear them. I’d just like to sleep through the night again and also maybe not feel like my leg is on fire while making coffee in the morning. I’ll hang up and listen.
  7. Is anyone else getting a little worried that school might get cancelled again on Monday? I’m in 78729 and I know our elementary school was still without power this afternoon.
  8. I have a H-E-B curbside order scheduled for pick up at 3:00 today. I’m debating on whether or not to just cancel it. Im sure the locusts will clear out every store from here to Houston within the next few hours.
  9. Someone needs to test Waterloo. If any of those come back hot, I’m screwed.
  10. I wondered why I never saw the 1lb bags anymore. The loosies always just taste better to me for some reason.
  11. I learned of this coffee maker from the Coffee thread. Can’t wait to try it out!
  12. This is happening for Christmas Eve lunch tomorrow. My in-laws wouldn’t know good food even if it bit them first, but I’m the chef this round so my rules. Hope it’s as good as it looks. Cedar Park Costco was insanity this morning, even before official opening time.
  13. Anytime someone quotes weather.com or whatever their phone says for the weather, I get all judgey. Ain’t nobody got time for that stupidity!
  14. I like free samples as much as anyone, but I kindof wish they’d do away with them on the weekends. All that jamming up at every other end cap is a beating. I guess no samples during the Covid years spoiled me. The Cedar Park location has been sampling Ruta Maya coffee again for the last few weeks. The sample guy puts out little bags of coffee to take home and people are practically yanking them out of his hands. We’re talking golden ticket in a Wonka Bar levels of stupidity.
