  1. It was not good in either game. My biggest complaint is Flood has not produced a physical OL in his time here. It is not S&C, because the DL is extremely physical. I think that is an issue. I am sure there are better posters to talk about the OL technique, but I question Flood's ability to teach inside zone.
  2. going off memory I believe the range was like 61-65. Lot better than Stroh, but still not good. that is SJSU OL – Trevor Goosby, 82.7. Cole Huston, 47.4, Connor Robertson, 77.0, Nate Kibble, 72.6, Jaydon Chatman, 65.9, DJ Campbell, 64.3, Neto Umeozulu, 61.7, Brandon Baker, 59.1, Connor Stroh, 47.6
  3. According to PFF the guy has 8 big time throws in 2 games, not sure what you are watching to say a few good throws. What people are not talking about is the movement in the pocket that has saved multiple sacks. Given the OL play through 2 games. Arch has had a pressure rate of 41% and 38% in the first 2 games, his legs are going to be invaluable. We have yet to see a quality defense that goes after Arch and OL (OSU generally played coverage rushing 3-4). Arch has been a bit erratic, mostly with Wingo, but people seem to be focusing on the tree and missing the forest. PS- the irony of the bad ball to Livingstone vs SJSU is he probably doesnt score if the ball hits him in stride. The safety had to put the brakes on to adjust to the ball and fell. I doubt it was intended, but I cannot say it wasnt. That gives me the impression that you are looking for something to criticize.
  4. Arch is just a different QB. He is much more of a playmaker. He isnt a system guy throwing darts in the short game. I think this is going to be an interesting marriage with Sark. Sark likes system guys. I think Sark is going to have to loosen the leash over time and let Arch be Arch.
  5. crazy thing is how much PFF likes Arch.. 85.3 grade vs SJSU and 76 grade vs OSU (Quinn finished at 72.5 last year) overall passing grade is 80.4 with 8 big time throws in 2 games. I think one thing people are under-estimating is his movement in the pocket. He has saved Texas from more than a few sacks (one dumb ass int vs SJSU) Losing some on the missed crossers but also gaining on pocket awareness and playmaking. I think PFF puts a big emphasis on the play making aspect of QB play. I do think if Quinn was starting the offense would be different and revert back to the horizontal, screen heavy attack. So I dont think your comment is completely crazy, though many will disagree.
  6. agree. They were conservative with their gameplan, but they did not go into a shell on offense until the 4Q.
  7. Arch went 19-30 vs SJSU. PFF gave Texas 4 drops in the game (I remember 2), so I was not nearly as terrible as people are making it out to be.. The Wingo thing is still annoying, but this is not brutal. Keep in mind Texas is going downfield a lot more this year. Part of that is scheme and part is Manning, who has an excellent 50% comp rate on deep balls so far.
  8. Kibble is surprising to me. We heard a lot of good things about him last year and saw him in the playoffs. but has only gotten 10 snaps (73.7 pass/72.1 run grade albeit a very small sample size vs SJSU) Neto has gotten 22 snaps. 65.5 grade vs OSU and 61.7 grade vs SJSU (not Stroh bad, but not particularly encouraging)
  9. completely agree on small DLs (Wyoming comes to mind). The one disconcerting aspect of the Flood OLs is the lack of physicality. For the most part the OL has been guys that screen the DL from the RB and get 0 displacement. It is still early though, so improvement can happen.
  10. I think there is a better chance Miami cleans house after the season, and they draft a QB in the first 5 picks.
  11. It is still a bit early in the year to get too far down on them, but the grades have been very ugly. last year we had 3 players above 70 (Banks, Conner, and Majors) Campbell (68.3) and Williams (67.4) were borderline I will be surprised if Flood does not tinker with the OL this week. At least give a couple players more PT or move some people around.
  12. Those 2 have been consistently graded poorly in both games. Goosby has been consistently graded high. Cole Hutson had a nightmare game vs SHSU. Stroh: 47.6 PFF grade vs SJSU and 44.9 vs OSU baker: 59.1 vs SJSU, 41.0 vs OSU Campbell: 64.3 SJSU,60.7 OSU, (not great either) Cole Hutson: 47.4 SJSU, 63.2 OSU Goosby 82.7 San Jose, 73.9 OSU anything below a 60 is bad. above a 70 is a solid grade and 80s is very good. Goosby the only OL that has consistently gotten solid grades
  13. Arch is hitting an excellent 50% on his deep balls. Hard to find issues with that. The issue is finding something that is efficient and easily replicated. Texas is much more vertical in the passing this year, which will tend to be more boom or bust The OL has some real holes currently. Stroh: 47.6 PFF grade vs SJSU and 44.9 vs OSU baker: 59.1 vs SJSU, 41.0 vs OSU That is going to make doing anything consistently an issue
  14. Texas was 0-6 with 3rd and 9+.. That is a 1st and 2nd down issue. Not saying 3rd down is not a problem, but I would guess the larger issue is 1st down success rate. Seems like a lot of drives start out with an incomplete on 1st and an ineffective run on 2nd down or a penalty on 1st down. I cannot find the stats, but I would be the biggest issue with this offense is 1st down. Feels like they are consistently behind the chains.
  15. We just have to see it on the field. As much as people criticized Blue, everyone knew he was capable scoring any time he touched the ball. Not quite the same level as Worthy, but he had game breaking speed. Livingstone is playmaker, but as a downfield contested ball guy. Offense is kind of missing that guy that can take a 5-yard play, make someone miss, and break off a 50+ yd TD. Right now, I am not seeing guys make people miss on the 2nd/3rd level and getting those easy explosives. We all thought Wingo was going to be that type of a player, but perimeter blocking and Arch connection has that TBD. Potential is there for that game breaker to emerge, but potential means you havent done it yet (consistently). Though I can see the big play ability in this offense. Arch is clearly a playmaker and his Livingstone connection is adding explosives. That represents the ceiling of this offense, which is high. The scary part is the efficiency represents the floor. This offense has shown 0 efficiency through 2 games.
  16. He got targeted and brought back to earth vs San Jose State. Still has a great future, but he had a rough day. Lucky the QB missed miss man deep twice
  17. No.. Go back and look at the play. Endries was initially picked up on the TE leak by #9. Arch looked to the RB in the flat for a quick second and the defender left Endries opening him up for TD. It was nice QB play. Ran that play vs OSU for a big gain in the playoffs. TE leak has been a killer for Sark, but this play takes a long time to develop
  18. Not sure you watched the last 2 games, but I would love to have Cam Williams at RT right now
  19. Manning received the highest grade on offense from PFF with an 85.3 https://www.on3.com/teams/texas-longhorns/news/top-pff-offensive-grades-from-texas-38-7-win-over-san-jose-state/
  20. Not really what you are saying, but the 1st one was a mess. I am still trying to figure out how Wingo was 1 on 1 with a safety and just ran into him.
  21. Didn’t Mac have 3 1st round WRs and a 1st round RB.. Not to mention a dominant OL. That was one of the best situations any QB has ever been dropped into. Not remotely comparable to this Texas team
  22. I thought he looked better. He did account for 9.8 yards/att, over 300 total yards, and 5 TDs.. He still doesn’t trust himself over the middle of the field. That is where a lot of the off target throws are and where the turn downs have occurred. His pocket feel was really good. He is really helping the OL in pass protection. Easy mover
  23. Not sure what it is, but Arch to Wingo connection is nonexistent through 2 games. It has looked really ugly at times
  24. Little sketchy this game. SJSU went after Littleton. I think I saw 3 times that SJSU WRs got behind the secondary. That needs to be cleaned up. Obviously using a hyper critical eye based on the competition.
  25. That fumble was brutal for Gibson and the team. He looked like the best runner we saw on the season and then he fumbled. I am sure the coaches would love to play him more, but his fumble rate makes it impossible
