  1. I am not sure pressing the most physically gifted WR in the country is a great idea. Day is not a moron, he will have plenty of man beaters in his play book. We saw crossing routes in that film. Cover 2 man is not a great run coverage. You are asking for front to stop the run game with honest numbers. I assume OSU will try to establish the run game. That said If Texas can stop the run with honest numbers, OSU will struggle to score. You are assuming an offense with a QB starting his 1st game is capable of executing 10 play drives to score. I am not convinced that is the case. That is generally something PK bets on. Is it a bad game plan to force OSU to execute, bet that Texas will get them behind the chains over a course of a long drive, and lean on your pass rushers to end it? Relying on press man will require 1st round NFL CB talent and that is not even a lock, because OSU has 1st round NFL WR talent. I could see PK mixing in more coverages. We will see Cover 3. He can also mix in some Cover 3 Cloud (roll up a CB to the flats on one side). Throw in some man and Cover 2/4 and some blitz packages. I think the worse thing to do vs a new QB is let him get comfortable with the coverage. That is why I brought up Ewers vs Bama. Sayin is a talented QB, if he knows where to go with the ball, he will have success. Mix up the looks make him hold the ball an extra second or 2 and hopefully that allows Colin to impact the game.
  2. So Man 2 coverage. That is not very aggressive.
  3. Will be interesting to see what defense PK runs. I know Texas wants to run more man, but not sure this is the game for that. Nobody is better at WR than OSU in the country. Defense should be nasty, but OSU WRs vs Texas CBs is the biggest OSU advantage on paper. I would expect OSU to try to run the ball and have a heavy dose of screens and draws to help the young QB out. Running man can also help a young QB (Quinn Ewers says hello to Saban). PK isnt a usually a big risk taker. I could see him going the route of mixing a lot of coverages with occasional blitz (almost always keeping 1 deep safety).
  4. Florida has a really strong interior OL and they have the best backfield in the SEC, they are very dangerous team if Lagway stays healthy
  5. just curious to why you believe this. I watched a lot of Bama last year and their traditional run game was inconsistent at best.
  6. Last OTF update I saw Bobby said the OL is opening some holes in the run game.
  7. should be noted that was Goosby's coming out party. He was fantastic and played against a 2nd round NFL pick. 0 sacks and I believe 0 penalties. OL dominated that day.
  8. https://amp.marca.com/en/nfl/super-bowl/2025/02/10/679083e346163fd17a8b458b.html according to this site, LT is the highest paid position in the NFL. That is because they are so hard to find. LTs are not just lying around CFB at small schools. If someone spots them it will be a complete bidding war.
  9. Brooks is a true freshman. I doubt they want Brooks to get his feet wet in Columbus. This is not an indictment on him.
  10. Neto is the one of the great riddles of Longhorn football. I cannot remember ever hearing a negative report about him, but I still have yet to see him start a football game.
  11. Did not realize that. Damn, I just looked at that backfield. Daniel Young (81 carries), Chris Warren (71), Porter (83), Toniel Carter (53). Might be the worst backfield Texas has ever fielded.
  12. Duke transferred out. I dont think he ever even got a carry at Texas. Some reason I remember him being a headcase. I think had an ugly injury at Houston. Porter was a career back-up. Danny Young was the only one to be a lead back. I am not sure that is the bar for average.
  13. I didnt read the fine print. I used aDOT (average depth of target), you used average depth of catch.
  14. Seems like health is Florida's biggest question mark this season. Makes it really hard to predict their season.
  15. that is one thing young Arch needs to learn, get your ass down son.
  16. I dont think we will see a lot of called runs for Arch, outside of couple big games.
  17. Colt and Manning are substantially different guys
  18. if you are saying DCs want to bring 4 and hit the QB, I would respond water is wet.
  19. I forgot the stats, but I believe Arch was quite good vs the blitz last year. DC is going to want to hit any QB, but if Arch makes them pay for bring an extra player a DC's options are quite limited.
  20. I believe Arch. I always thought it was odd, they never reported it. If I am a coach being criticized for not playing Arch, I sure as hell would have reported he was concussed.
  21. Starting RBs and at a program like Texas? I highly doubt that. Here is just the SEC (cfbstats.com - 2024 Southeastern Conference Player Leaders). If I take out RBs with less than 100 carries, he still finished 14th in ypc.
  22. In college it is below average, especially for a blue blood RB. NFL is another story
  23. I hope that was it. Arch is definitely going to make defense cover more of the field. You usually worry about turnovers with young QBs, but given how many Texas dealt with last year I dont think the number will increase much. I would probably bet it decreases.
  24. Wisner should have better YPC number, which I believe was the lowest for a Texas lead since Daniel Young or Tre Watson. He will be better if he does not have to carry the full load of the run game, which he certainly wasnt built for last year.
  25. We can disagree there. Ewers finishing 33 in QBR (8th in the SEC,1 spot above Nico) with Sark and the talent around him is not screaming well above average. Texas QBs were responsible for 20 turnovers (17 for Ewers). Not to mention Texas threw more passes under 5 yards than any team in the nation according to Elko. It was a pretty favorable situation. I am talking the P4. Rb room had fumble issues, blocking woes, depth issues, and lacked an inside runner.
