  1. not that is matters, but I was confused by the comments. OU brings 4 on the int (first series) and they call it a blitz. They bring 5, maybe 6 with Stutsman, on the Helm TD, but that isnt a blitz. You have the Whit play to the 1 yard on a blitz, but they got to say 10-12 with 1 Int, 2 sacks, and no TDs (something like that).
  2. I was going to say that. It makes sense that both were supposed to be in today
  3. That’s huge. Hook’em
  4. Its like going back in time, when football has essentially unlimited rosters. I just dont get Baseball, Softball, and Volleyball. These are sports that lose money on the whole. No need to increase the expenses there. Title IX is going to become a bigger deal for schools (just added 44.3 men's scholarships and 19 girls). This will have a negative effect on men's sports (could see schools dropping men's sports) and probably adding women's sports.
  5. Texas took 3 DTs in the portal for a reason. That would have happened with or without Bo.
  6. I would bet one of the edge guys will be a 5 star and a long shot both are. Townsend is in that discussion also
  7. The goal was reported to be 4 DT.. This had nothing to do with Sanders. Texas needs to offer multiple DTs at this point
  8. “I’m gonna alleviate some of your concerns because I know you’ve got seven wideouts that all can play,” Saban told Sarkisian. “I know you’ve got three quarterbacks that all can play. Baxter was the best running back I saw of any team, aight, so you’re gonna be able to run the ball. “If you can run it, you can always do better in the red zone. I’m just gonna do a little coaching clinic here just in case.”
  9. Kelly has a pretty solid resume. Guys like Frank Wilson, Bo Davis, and Corey Raymond have long histories of good work. The one thing that can be frustrating reading this board is this idea that every single recruitment is about NIL (not that you said that).
  10. I do not think there is a singular factor, that can explain things. 1. Texas hasnt recruited at DT well for quite some time.. Given the amount of portal takes there, that is hard to argue 2. Texas went with an unknown at DT in Baker. Bigger issue is he had 0 contact with DT recruits prior to Jan/Feb.. 3. Weak DT class in state this year. Forcing Texas to play from behind in national recruitments with an inexperienced DT coach. 4. NIL just adds, so much volatility to recruitments. I believe the Sharma number was 800k and is for the 29th ranked DL in the nation. I do think he is under-rated, but he is currently ranked 1 spot above Rink in the national rankings. There just isnt much you can do to stop someone from overspending on a single recruit. 5. DT is arguably the most competitive position to recruit. The solution is not easy. I completely agree with Gerry on DT recruiting. Texas did not recruit enough names. Maybe it was hubris on Sark's part, but hopefully it was a lesson learned. Maybe it was a mistake that would have been avoided with an adult in the room running recruiting (Glasscock). That we will never know
  11. Jake Majors is starting. Not much to discuss
  12. should add Townsend ran a fully automatic 10.92 100m at district.
  13. JT Sanders - 6'3" 235 as a recruit Townsend - 6'3" 235 as a HS junior
  14. Outside of WR and maybe OT, it shows the services are pretty good at measuring pure athleticism. Positions that require more mental aspects of the game (QB/LB/S) and projections on body development (DT/OL), the services struggle.
  15. decided to look Top 100 players drafted by position: 1. DE - 60% 2. Athlete - 53.8% 3. TE- 53.6% 4. OT- 52.9% 5. CB - 45.7% 6. RB- 40.6% 7. QB- 40.3% 8- IOL- 40.0% 9. S- 39% 10. DT- 38.6% 11. LB- 33% 12. WR- 30.8%
  16. That would be the 3 in my view, assuming Townsend plays TE. I sell WRs in general. They are maybe the most plentiful position in football (especially in Texas)and its is also a position that has more busts, than you would expect. (inside Texas did some work on bust rates by position and WR had the lowest draft rate amond top 100 players.)
  17. I think people are sleeping on Townsend, might be the most likely NFL player on offense in the state of Texas.
  18. since when does USC lead for Faraimo?
  19. I believe Gerry said Nansen had recruited him at Arizona. Nansen must see something he likes. They only brought in 4 LBs and he was one of them
  20. you may want to check the news on P Diddy
  21. I dont agree with part either. DT is a hard position to recruit/evaluate. I would rather take my chances with elite recruits. While the 60+ bust rate is eye opening, I woudl bet 3 stars bust at higher rate. I do agree on numbers though. If you know a positon has a high bust rate and it is vital to winning, you probably need to throw numbers at it. Sark has not. I do think Jackson profiles to being a hell of DT, despite him having 0 current interest in playing there currently. He is already 270 and a 2 sport guy, I could see him easily at 300 as a Junior that maybe me wish casting.
  22. I dont think you understood what I said. Pulling 7-10 guys out of the NFL from a pool of ~200+ recruits is not going to tell you much about the BUST rate, which is what you were trying to disprove. I believe I addressed your attempt to shift the argument with the Clemson and Bama comment in the following: "I wouldnt be surprised if the elite came from the top of the rankings, but that doesnt mean there isnt a 60%+ bust rate." Probably best to move on from this little sidebar, since it is not particularly accurate or interesting.
  23. That is not going to be helpful. I do know guys like Chris Jones, Buckner, and Simmons were listed as a DE coming out of HS. Jones was 250 and Buckner 238 pounds. I have doubts on whether Sark would go after those guys. Sark is a size queen. You have taken players starting from the 2013 class. There were 41 guys listed at DL in the 24 class. I am not going to look, but let's say its 7 classes (2013-2019). Let's call it 30 kids a year or 210 players. The 7 listed, taking out guys listed at DE, are not going to tell you much about the bust rate. I wouldnt be surprised if the elite came from the top of the rankings, but that doesnt mean there isnt a 60%+ bust rate.
  24. Texas is losing that kid, but that is just the risk of recruiting Louisiana. LSU completely ignored him. Got in late. They offered and he immediately postponed his commitment announcement. That will happen from time to time. Some kids dont want to leave the state.
  25. Oh God, I can already see this shit turning into Evan Stewart 2.0. I am going to have to see people jonesing for him ever time the portal opens.
