  1. Need him to get some experience in college in that game, because it is likely Texas will need him vs Michigan
  2. I think there are times, when recruiting analysts project a players NFL fit over their college football fit. Lot of NFL IOL played tackle at a high level in college. There is a reason the NFL pays dearly for true LTs (they are extremely rare)
  3. This is bit harsh. I took a quick look at this and our numbers are very different. I am guessing that is because you counted the scrambles and the sack as running plays, which is technically true, but misleading for looking at play calling. I had 1st Half at 22 called passes for 126 yards (including the scrambles) 5.72 per vs 13 for 80 (6.15).. Through 3Qd 24 passes plays for 131 yards (5.46 per) vs 16 for 109 (6.81 yards). I could have missed a play or 2, but I think it is fair to say Sark came out pass heavy vs Washington.
  4. Red Zone wasnt really an issue. Even including the last series, which wasnt traditional redzone (15 seconds from the 12 is not easy), Texas was 4-6 in the redone vs Washington
  5. good scouting. They were really prepared. One thing that kept Texas in the game in the 1st half (outside the muffed punt) was Ewers legs. He had 42 yards on 4 scrambles in the 1st half alone (36 if you net out the sack).
  6. Texas was just sloppy. So many penalties. Think 6 first half penalties and 10 overall. Had multiple 3rd down conversions called back for penalties.
  7. I had different numbers. Just curious, are you counting scrambles and sacks in you rushing attempts? (I forgot how much damage Ewers did with his legs in that game)
  8. I think this is a bit over-stated. 18 carries for RB that averaged 6.8 yards is definitely a little light, but some of that was dictated by the circumstances. Those 2 fumbles by the RBs turned a 21-21 game into a 34-21 game
  9. He is pretty balanced, but I believe the OnTExas guys looked at the opening drive or first 2 drives last season and it was pass heavy. More of a pass to open the up the run strategy. He seems more creative in the pass game and coming from BYU, I think that is where his passion lies.
  10. I think he is going to be better than people think. I think Gibson can provide some tough running when the OL is not dominating. That is something we havent seen from any of the currnet RBs.
  11. Sark likes to open up throwing the ball and finishing games with the run. He throws to open the run. Everything increased last year, as Quinn and the OL made big strides from 2022. If the OL and Quinn takes another step, the offensive production will increase in 2024
  12. Texas was fine last year, so not sure what you are trying to say here. Just pointing out Texas was a pass first team last year and I don’t see that changing this year
  13. From freaking out and acting like the sky is falling. Now that it is officially an Achilles tear, feel free to freak out
  14. Last year Texas was a pass first team. I don’t see this year being any different. Felt like last year Texas always opened with a pass. We are going to see the same thing this year. Lots of screens and short to intermediate passes early.
  15. As a rule I try to ignore Texas RBs vs Tech. That is how you end up thinking Chris Warren is the next Earl Campbell. We will find out all we need know about the RB room vs Michigan. I think Gibson may surprise some people.
  16. Sometimes players just get into their own heads. Couple drops leads to a shitshow of a week.
  17. @immamac approves this message
  18. I haven’t heard anything officially released. Could be a bad ankle sprain for all we know, but isn’t going to stop people
  19. Florida and Georgia have really upped their game, but I think it takes a while for the reputation to catch up. Florida acceptance rate is ~24%. That is a different level than Athens (43%).
  20. QS World rankings 23- Michigan 67- Texas 128- Texas A&M 173- Florida 226- Virginia 541-Georgia QS World University Rankings 2022: Top Global Universities | Top Universities
  21. Stetson Bennett playing college for 6 years, always academically eligible, but never graduating was one of the more unique accomplishments I have seen
  22. He makes sense if you are taking bodies for the sake of taking bodies. He doesnt make sense based on the need in the room. Texas has 2 Rbs that are very comfortable in space (Wisner/Blue). There are questions about their ability to run inside and block. Maybe more importantly their ability to stay healthy, if continually tasked with those responsibilities. If they are going to bring someone into the room, you would expect a more physical/bigger athlete. Sark will run a lot of screens and some jet motion as the extension of the run game with the WRs, so I am not sure he needs to move a fast and small WR over. Lets see how Clark and Gibson do over the next week or so.
  23. I think most have thought that is where Barron's ultimate upside and NFL spot maybe. I do wonder if Barron is ready to accept that at this time. I remember some talk of getting him more time at CB for NFL purposes, when he decided to come back. Wondering if you have any insight on his willingness to spin down to Safety.
  24. I think the overall point was Sark is just going to have to adjust his offense, unless one of the freshmen take to the Baxter role. He was actually a bit of anomaly. Most freshmen struggle to block (generally they are not asked to do it much in HS). Things like 2 RB set may not be as effective. You could split Blue out and hunt matchups knowing you have a good pass protector in Baxter. Might have to run more outside zone vs inside zone. I dont think this is something to panic about, but an added risk. The one positive is this happened early in camp, so Sark has plenty of time to tweak things.
  25. Mostly the obvious. 1. Blocking is a question (Baxter was the best blocker last year, Blue/Wisner are questionable) 2. Could have a big effect on game planning. 2 RB sets that were successful might be run less, which could limit Blue's usage in the pass game. Play action could be affected. 3. Sark may have to pivot running less inside zone. That isnt the best use of Blue or Wisner's ability. Freshmen could help there. Their bodies are ready, but are they mentally ready
