  1. Could Texas Longhorns Alfred Collins Be Best Defensive Tackle in The SEC Next Season? Pro Football Focus recently released its grades for the top returning defensive tackles in the SEC next season, and Collins was among the best of the bunch. Based on last season, Collins received the third-best grade of 79.9, behind only Florida's Joey Slackman (90.5) and Kentucky's Deone Walker (80.6).
  2. He was actually solid last year, so I am not sure he is eligible.
  3. He might quietly be the defensive MVP for the team.
  4. The best defense is base defense, if you can play well in it. Todd Orlando still hasnt learned that. Stunts do raise the risk of people getting out of their gaps. Offense can catch you in the wrong stunt vs a play and it is RB on Safety in the open field. Blitzing is the same way. Like everything in life adding complexity increases the chances for mistakes. Texas runs stunts. You will see them in obvious pass situations. If you are up 42-0 the main goal is not giving up any big plays, so need to run them vs Florida
  5. Ark offense is strange. They are actually pretty good, outside of the fact they love to fire a few rounds into their foot a game. Only OU and Aubirn have turned the ball over more than Ark in the SEC. Texas has created the 2nd most turnovers in the SEC. Ark defense pass defense is a mess. 8.3 yards per attempt (only UK is worse). 266.2 passign yards/ game worst in the SEC. Not helped by the fact they struggle to get pressures.
  6. I believe one of those sacks was the one where Banks buried him and Ewers just tripped over him. That was 100% on Quinn.
  7. the backfoot throw for no reason was the Golden TD pass
  8. "“This rivalry’s been going on for a long, long time,” Sarkisian said. Reflecting on the longstanding animosity Arkansas holds for Texas, he quipped, “I was joking with the team this morning; I don’t know what Darrell Royal did to Arkansas back in the day, but they absolutely hate our guts. I think we learned that the first time around when we went there.”
  9. not shocking math is not on the list
  10. This was a masterpiece by Sark (helped by Florida's poor coverage). 5 clips and 4 to the 1st read. I mentioned the Helm throw as one of the few that Quinn had to go through his reads and hit a secondary read. Its scary when Sark is dealing.
  11. People tend to blame the OL for every sack, when studies have shown most sacks are on the QB. PFF credited 2 of the 8 on the OL in the Georgia game. We know that sack rates are one of the most consistent stats in the NFL when a QB changes teams and the least consistent when a team changes QBs. Sack avoidance is a QB skill. That does not mean every sack is on the QB. We should include the RBs and TEs in this also. Baxter getting hurt as had a major effect.
  12. I don’t think he has to worry about that for long
  13. Missouri?? LSU??? WTF are you talking about. He should be fired for that comment alone.
  14. They are tied for 14th out of 16 teams, that dont get sacks.
  15. It's his footwork. I dont understand how a kid that has had a Qb coach since about the time he came out of the womb can have such poor footwork. It been an issue since he came to Texas and even in the Florida game, he would throw off his backfoot with no pressure. It has to be frustrating the hell out of Sark.
  16. It was simple read. Sark called play action pass and the ILB was blitzing and mugged up on the LOS. It was pretty obvious, not much to make a decision about
  17. Yes. Quinn is great with a clean pocket and 1st read is there. He one of the best QBs in the country in that environment. He has a rep for poor pocket presence and an inability to handle pressure. Only way for him to win over his detractors is to have a big game with a messy pocket. There just arent many chances for that.
  18. I dont think anyone is claiming that ball should not have been caught. Golden made a catch on worse thrown ball. That isnt the point when judging if a ball was well thrown. Great throw, WR catches it in stride. Good throw, slight adjustment for a WR. Ill explain with an example. I have said the 2nd best throw was the 1 in the flat to Blue. That was tight window (heart skipped a bit when it was thrown, that looked like it could have been picked) and hit him perfectly on that upfield shoulder. Arch is not as good at that. Being accurate on the short routes are a huge part of Sark's offense. Throw it to the back shoulder and it could be 1-2 yard gain, hit that front shoulder and you give the receiver a real chance for YAC. Catchable ball and good ball are not always the same thing. People are too caught up in the Quinn is a pussy thing, to be rational.
  19. Beck threw Bobo under the bus in the presser after the Ole Miss game. It was almost subtle, but message was delivered.
  20. they are talking about the 1st one, where Moore had to slow down and turn around to catch it (he dropped it). It was not a good throw, but good enough that it should have been caught. Ill call it effective.
  21. Kentucky has some real NFL talent on defense. That offense is bad. IF Texas defense can shut down the running game this week and next, these should be comfortable wins. I would not mind the offense getting a bit of a test before the A&M game (assuming still a comfortable win)
  22. Ill take the under on 30 for all 3 games. There will be at least one that the offense has issues with (likely UK or A&M). Ark coming off a bye. They quit vs Ole Miss, be interesting to see if Pittman got the team back. Kentucky coming off a bye and Murray St, so 3 week of prep for Texas OFEI: Texas 11, A&M 29,ARk 56, UK 69 DFEI: Texas 1, A&M 16, UK 43, Ark 51 Pts per Drive Offense: Texas 8, A&M 49, UK 107, Ark 70 Defense: Texas 1, A&M 39, UK 58, Ark 81
  23. Arkansas pass defense the last 2 games Date Opponent Surface Result Att Comp Pct. Yards Yards/Att TD Int Rating 10/26/24 @ Mississippi St. Grass W 58-25 31 22 71.0 309 10.0 2 2 163.09 11/02/24 10 Mississippi Turf L 31-63 34 28 82.4 562 16.5 7 0 289.13 77% comp, 13.4 yds/att, 9 TDs, and 2 ints.. Tied foe 14th in Sacks in the SEC with A&M (didnt expect that) for the season
  24. I watched the first half quickly. His best throws were to Moore in the endzone and the swing to Blue. 2 other throws stood out the 1st series throw to Helm and a later a crosser to Bolden. I definitely could have missed a couple. Outside of that it was all 1st read and checkdown throws. Sark was on point in this game. Quinn played very well, but this was one of the easier games he will have (SEC defenses!!)
  25. Quinn is going to have a high completion percentage. Texas runs so many screens and swing passes. Not complaining, I am guessing Texas had over 200 yards on them vs Florida (2 TDs (bond and Wisner) and explosive from Blue (great throw on that))
