  1. If you are talking about Michigan defense getting pressure on Quinn, I would expect that. If Texas gets out of that game without giving up a sack, that would be one hell of a good sign for the rest of the season. I would not bet on that.
  2. I am going to avoid that game. Big spread and the 1st game. I wouldnt be surprised if Texas won comfortably, but enough sloppiness to get the people's panties in a bunch here.
  3. The 1st 2 games are going to be a great barometer of who Texas is this season. Game 1: CSU will be pass happy, so we will get a decent look at the secondary development Game 2: We will get to see how the front 7 will look vs a power team. I know Michigan replaces a ton of OL, but pretty confident they will put out a legit OL. The right side of the Texas OL is going to tested. This maybe the best defense Texas plays all year.
  4. overall comment.. Their WRs are sneaky good (Key is threat also). The secondary is expected to be very good. You have an NFL player at every level on the defense. Their biggest issue is the revolving door at OC.
  5. They will have a legit defense. It is amazing how they always seem to have 4-5 NFL guys
  6. what if you offer better childcare services?
  7. Trying to use logic about a wedding, pregnancy, or new born with a woman is D.O.A. No use even attempting such a foolhardy mission.
  8. Dont remember the exact stats, but I do believe Texas was top 5 in pressures. Sacks and pressures are very important, but so is the ability of a defense to make a team 1 dimensional. That is something the defense did consistently last year and should have been very beneficial to the secondary. OF course it is really easy on secondary if Texas defense became the 85 Bears and stuffed the run and sacked the QB, but that is a big ask.
  9. Odd response. DL was salty last year. Wonder what he means by this
  10. I think it is more Nansen. Just my suspicion, but if PK has a hole in his coaching it is in the secondary. In his prior stops he has had very strong secondary coaches (Marcel Yates and Jimmy Lake). I think that allowed him to focus on the front. I dont think he has that luxury at Texas. I think Nansen may help bring the back end and the front together. I heard reports that he is very vocal in practice and interacts with all 3 levels of the defense. That has given me some confidence for this season. Might prove to be false confidence, we shall see
  11. I thought this guy was really interesting Joseph Mbatchou - Grayson - Defensive Line (on3.com) new to football. He has been playing hoops. The Florida Gators have had their eye on Loganville (GA) Grayson 2025 defensive lineman Joseph Mbatchou in recent weeks. The sleeper defensive lineman is currently in his first year of football, with only this past spring football season serving as his only experiencing playing the sport. At 6-foot-6, 285-pounds, there are a lot of traits the Gators have been high on, and after offering him this past weekend, Mbatchou was back in Gainesville again a few days later. Kid is getting SEC offers as spring film leaks out (South Carolina, Auburn, and Texas). He is from Cameroon. Athletic and raw kid with a lot of upside.
  12. Bobby went off on an NIL comment yesterday. Someone saying Texas needs to up their NIL game. He said you may not like how they allocate the NIL, but Texas is top 3 in NIL period. He mentioned retention is a bigger factor, then fans care to think about. He also used Tenn as an example. Apparently, they gave a top OT 1mm NIL deal to sign. He was pointing out that guy is a great recruit but may not play for 2 years. That is potentially 2 years, where you wasted a million dollars that could have gone to retention and portal acquisitions. Gerry said the flip side of that is they may be forced to play him too early, due to the big NIL guarantee. Just my uniformed opinion, but I think the #1 use is retention. You need to make sure you have a 2 deep first. #2 is recruits. There are lot of factors there. How deep is the position and how early can the recruit play? How big is the gap between the #1 kid on the board and the #2 and #3 kid. There are others with far more knowledge on the subject here that can probably go into greater detail, but this is much more like being a NFL GM where you have to make some tough decisions. Perhaps some of the more informed NIL guys can chime in with greater detail.
  13. Not really for the recruiting thread, but I think Sark bringing in Nansen was bigger than just bringing in a LB coach.
  14. For some reason I am more optimistic on the defense after hearing camp reports. I think Nansen is going to add a bunch. It’s going to be interesting to see if the WR corp is a collection of solid to good players or if there is a high round pick in that group (I think Wingo is that guy, but we may not see that until next year).
  15. I was talking about Quinn needing to step up in 1st halves of games. I am not sure how that is hard to comprehend. Your response was a singular game and one where Quinn started very slow and ended the highest rated player on the team according to PFF.
  16. I gave you the splits in passer rating, if you want to go into a tangent about a singular game feel free. You can check, but Quinn was way better in the 2nd half vs Washington. He struggled in the 1Q, but was one of the better offensive players in that game 1q- 154.4 rating 6TDs and 3 Ints (8.8 yards per) 2q- 139 rating 5TDs and 3 Ints (7.8) 3q- 161.6 rating 5TDs and 0 ints (8.8 per) 4q- 197.8 rating 6TDs and 0 ints (11.2 per) If you want to look at those numbers and say he struggles in 2Hs of games, I am not sure what to say. I guess you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink
  17. I tried to stop posts like this by saying overall, but I knew someone would bring up a singular game. I can’t imagine the thought process that thinks Blue and Baxter’s fumbles in the 3Q are on Ewers (he was the subject of my post), but maybe you just felt the need to bitch about Washington game
  18. One thing Ewers needs to work on is his starts. He had excellent 2h and 4Q numbers overall last season. 198 4Q rating. 146 1H rating vs 178 in 2H
  19. I hope that is true. If Texas puts up 6 TDs vs Michigan, it’s going to be an amazing year
  20. Yes. If you don’t think Texas will need 3 RBs vs Michigan and one suited to run between the tackles, I am not sure what to tell you
  21. Need him to get some experience in college in that game, because it is likely Texas will need him vs Michigan
  22. I think there are times, when recruiting analysts project a players NFL fit over their college football fit. Lot of NFL IOL played tackle at a high level in college. There is a reason the NFL pays dearly for true LTs (they are extremely rare)
  23. This is bit harsh. I took a quick look at this and our numbers are very different. I am guessing that is because you counted the scrambles and the sack as running plays, which is technically true, but misleading for looking at play calling. I had 1st Half at 22 called passes for 126 yards (including the scrambles) 5.72 per vs 13 for 80 (6.15).. Through 3Qd 24 passes plays for 131 yards (5.46 per) vs 16 for 109 (6.81 yards). I could have missed a play or 2, but I think it is fair to say Sark came out pass heavy vs Washington.
  24. Red Zone wasnt really an issue. Even including the last series, which wasnt traditional redzone (15 seconds from the 12 is not easy), Texas was 4-6 in the redone vs Washington
  25. good scouting. They were really prepared. One thing that kept Texas in the game in the 1st half (outside the muffed punt) was Ewers legs. He had 42 yards on 4 scrambles in the 1st half alone (36 if you net out the sack).
