  1. It’s odd. There could be several reasons: 1. They think they can make him into a RB 2. Want to make him a versatile piece of the offense 3. just need bodies for spring 4. they think he is a pain in the ass and are burying him on the depth chart to encourage a a transfer
  2. A guy that is probably 5'8"/5'9" and listed at 210 is actually kind of thick. If he got to ~220 that would not be a small RB, I am not sure he can get there. Rojo served as the power RB at 220-225 the last couple years at 6'2". Red is short, but he is not sub 200 pounds. To be honest, I am a bit mystified by this move. RB room has a plethora of 3rd down RBs and a dearth of guys that can go between the tackles. His HS film did show a tough runner. I have to imagine the coaches think that can translate to RB, because I really can not come up with another reason to make that move (unless the are some injuries/issues we are unaware of). It seems redundant, if the coaches are looking to make him another 3rd down type back with Wisner, Robinson, and Blue.
  3. here is the crazy thing, based on published weights Red would be the second heaviest RB in the room (Baxter heaviest)
  4. I am going to bet he is sub 5'10 and you put on 5-10 pounds and he could be a little bowling ball. Brooks is listed at 6'0 and 200 pounds, so its hard to say he is cut out for 3rd and 1. He has that upright style, though Marcus Allen had that and was somehow was one of the best short yardage runners ever (vision goes a long way). It is sad to say, but the only RB I would be confident in giving the ball to on 3rd and 1 is Baxter.
  5. Big fan of "in the end makes Rivals, 247, and Moreons3 look stupid"
  6. Oddly the "fly over" defense has been pretty stout vs the run (ISU's 3 DL/3Safety look). You have safeties coming down pretty fast and it is not easy for OL to pick them up. They are not used to that. If you remember Tom Herman used to pound his head into a wall vs ISU for 3Qs every year, only to go 5 wide in 4Q and find success vs the look. ISU has finished no worse than 4th vs the run in the Big 12 that last 5 years and 1st 3 times. Sark found success this year vs ISU and KSU using big sets and unbalanced lines to open up the run game.
  7. I would say “AND get pressure bringing 4 and dropping 7”, I believe that is what you meant. Getting pressure with 4 is probably the single biggest disaster to an offense. I have yet to see even the best QBs thrive in that situation
  8. To be fair, if their 6 (4-2 or 3-3) can control the LOS and stuff the run game, almost every offense is fucked. You would need NFL caliber QB to score a lot of points. I remember Strong employing 5 in the box and dating Kingsbury to run the ball. He didn’t and he lost
  9. I love the small private school stuff about Arch. Every Manning has played at that same small private HS. That is also the only HS I am aware of that has 2 #1 NFL draft picks and 2 Super Bowl winning QBs (Westlake has the rings, but not the #1 draft picks).

    TEXAS QB TALK

I think you are right, drops are not included. This is more a state of the disorganization of the Texas passing game.

PFF’s drop rate is highly suspect. They are quite nice to WRs in my opinion. Receiver’s fault is blown route, quit running, fell down, dropped ball etc. It isn’t just a judgement on the WR’s, but shows an overall dysfunction in the passing game.

    TEXAS QB TALK

You are over thinking this. The “wr fault” list is the nations top 10 in that category (or bottom 10, whoever you wan to think about). The other one is just the “catchable rate” of the QBs listed in the “wr fault” post
  13. I’ll start by saying you take Duece and recruit him hard. That said, the 2 sport thing is not optimal. He appears to be very serious about baseball. Will he have the focus and put the time in to maximize his abilities on the football field? That you don’t know. If not, he is still probably a solid flex guy and a good player. Just not the special player, that many think he will be.

    TEXAS QB TALK

I am going to catch negs for Ewers leading the nation in incompletions that were Wr’s fault?
  15. I caught the ON3 video with Wells and Bobby Burton. Wells relayed some comments from Micah Hudson, that I thought was worthy of sharing. Wells said he talked to Micah about meeting the new WR coach. I'll paraphrase "Seems like a genuine guy, he did not come in wearing a cowboy hat and boots". Doesnt sound like Micah was a Marion fan.
  16. Maybe the best part of Roberson’s video is how much different he is compared to Derek Williams. He covers ground and is a play maker with the ball in the air. Williams is a physical safety that will smack you (athletic and a playmaker also). One is a pure FS and one is a pure SS
  17. You are missing the best part. McDonald was a TCU legacy. They went all in on DBs and didn’t have room for him (supposedly). He blew up. Roberson got pissed about the additional DBs and now looks like Texas is the destination.
  18. Texas will certainly be at least a TD dog in that game, but I do think the cracks are starting to show in the Bama machine. Last year's Bama team was certainly more talented, than the projected 2023 team. That 2022 team underperformed, imagine saying Saban had the best QB in the country and didnt make the playoffs 3 years ago. Bama still has plenty of talent, so it will take awhile to see the dam break. It took years for the talent suck in Austin to show up for Mack. All that Does not mean Texas will win, but this should not be a 30 point ass whipping that most would have expected only 6 months ago.
  19. not anymore. Mack started Junior days and he had an edge for awhile. Rest of the CFB caught up to him.
  20. Looks massive compared to everyone else out there, not sure what you are seeing. He looks a couple inches taller than the other front court, but is twice as wide.
  21. He is the quintessential low floor/high ceiling recruit. I dont really care about competition. That is generally over-rated. He has excellent size and he has good movement skills. If you just fix his pad level, he will be a rotational player (though I probably said that about Broughton 4 years ago @Burt Macklin). Fix his pad level and teach him to use his hands and he has potential to be a star. The biggest risk is probably academic though. That said it is great lottery ticket.
  22. That is an interesting offer. He looks very raw, as expected, but he can move for a big man. Interesting clay for Bo to work with
